Daivajna again

[edit]

almost 90% of the community is smartha and affiliated to this matah under guaidance of shringeri shankaracharya as our aadi guru... rest 10% of population cud be vaishnavites following sonde matha.. there were conficts in daivajna community coz of this .. but till dat 100% daivajns in goa and maharashtra are smarthas.. but only few ppl from udupi,, south canara.. north cnara .. interiors of karnataka nad few familis in kerala are vasihnavites

abour jnaneshwari peetha

[edit]

yes i m a daivajna.. wot questions do u have abt it?

i have clearly mentioned in my article tht this peetha is religious head quarter of shankar daivajnas only . ie those who belong to smartha or shaivite sect.. and not the vaishnavite daivajnas who follow the udupi madhwa tradition ( follw vadiraja swami )

Pai (Chinese surname)

[edit]

Hello again Deepak. I created the page Pai (Chinese surname). I've included information about the Chinese surname in the Mongolia region, extrapolated from your 19 April 2007 edit in Pai (surname). Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on the web about Pai in Mongolia or the northeast of China; was hoping you have a citation? Request for help, please

[edit]

Greetings Deepak D'Souza ,

Could you kindly help me translate this article into the brilliant Konkani language? Please.

The "True Jesus Church" is an independent church that was established in Beijing, China in 1917. Today, there are approximately 1.5 million members in forty five countries and six continents. The church belongs to the Protestant branch of Christianity that emerged during the early twentieth century. Since 1932, the church was established in India. They aim to preach the gospel to all nations before the Second Coming of Jesus. The ten main doctrines and beliefs of the church are:

  1. Holy Spirit
  2. Baptism
  3. Feet Washing
  4. Holy Communion
  5. Sabbath Day
  6. Jesus Christ
  7. The Bible
  8. Salvation
  9. The church
  10. Final Judgement

Your help would be very Gratefully Appreciated, Thankyou very much. (Note: You can give me the Konkani translation in either the Devanagari, Kannada, or Roman script - For example, [1], [2] and [3]). --Jose77 (talk) 02:17, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Jack de Sequeira

[edit]

For a start, my firend, I don't have much time to tag articles either, I just do it for a few minutes at a time in my lunch break. I'm sorry if you feel I've tried to "shoot your article down" before it got on its feet but it is really rather small and limited. You seem to be relativley new to wikipedia, I myselve only edit for about six month. I can give you a piece of advice, given to me in a very simular situation, which I found extremly valuable, open your own sandbox, write the article there in your own leasure and when you think it has sufficent substance, copy it accross to its own, newly created page. From there you can then expand it bit by bit. I found this a very convinient way of editing without having to put out a to small article, it really made a lot of difference to me! I appologise for upsetting you and wish you all the best in whichever part of India you live, EA210269 (talk) 12:13, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article looks much better now but could use a reference or sources section, even if there is only non-English sources available.
I'm always happy to discuss any edits I made if somebody thinks there are wrong or counter-productive. I think however, you should in the future refrain from verbal personal attacks like the one you left on my talk page: Will you relax?? Chill buddy! What do you expect? That every new article should be a 100 page thesis or something?? It takes time to write an article , okay? Maybe you have all the time in the world to sit and tag articles. Not everybody does. We have WORK to do, get it?
I understand very well that you were unhappy about me tagging the article, I properbly would have felt the same, but personal attacks are unnecerssary. To imply, I' ve got nothing better to do then tag articles and that I'don't do any proper work is quite insulting and hurtful. You can find more about the subject of personal attacks under Wikipedia:No personal attacks. Please keep any discussion on a civil level in the future, wether its with me or any other editor. Other then this, keep up the good work, enjoy editing and I hope next time we meet on wikipedia it will be on friendlier terms. Regards, EA210269 (talk) 00:09, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I noticed you having been here longer then I thought, I read your contribution list wrong somehow. Consider putting the "Under construction" template on a new article, it will tell people your intending to expand the article. I've seen it on quite a few new ones. Or tag as an "India-stub", this will also work. Both ways I've seen used and it lets other editors now your intentions. Unfortunatly, when patroling new articles, you come by a lot of rubish and to filter out the good from the bad is time consuming, a tag like those makes it easier for the guys on "patrol". This way they know you are an expierienced editor, not some new kid writing about his/her lost love! Take care, EA210269 (talk) 11:54, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Situation

[edit]

Hi Deepak D'Souza. :) I'm not an administrator, but I could try to help and talk with the user if you'd like. At this point, it seems that another person in the mix, such as myself, might not help the situation, but if clarity is ever needed, I wouldn't mind trying to explain and straighten out any confusion Enigmatic1986 may have. Cheers! --JamieS93 11:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I personally see nothing innately wrong with him creating a new account if he wants to, or getting the current one deleted, as long as this is done appropriately. Once a new username is created, the previous one should not be used any longer, and the new account ought not to be used for any sort of abusive or remotely sock-puppetry purposes, of course. However, I am assuming that he has good intentions, especially if he suggested to start over or get a new username for the purpose of simply "starting fresh" or forgetting history. I don't think there would be any policy violation if he wanted to create a new account, or get his previous contributions removed. I'd suggest that he ask an administrator about the situation regarding getting his user account deleted, and also creating a new one if he wants to a new name to contribute under. --JamieS93 16:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on your comments

About the comments you have made: here and here, let me quote it for you:"Response to D'Pak D'Souza's accusation". its funny that you have mangled my name to find "Pak" in it. Not a new thing since I have heard it before. Doesn't irritate me if that is what you intended, nor does it amuse me.

But is it really a coincidence that you and the anonymous user (whom you claim is not you sockpupet) both tend to respond in the same teasing manner[1]?--Deepak D'Souza (talk • contribs) 10:30, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Now, Deepak D'Souza, I am not responding in a "teasing" manner as you like to put it. "D'Pak" was simply a spelling mistake, probably because your last name is spelled that way. But if it did not bother you, then you probably wouldn't have mentioned it. Be aware that Wikipedia is here to help build valid research articles, not for these name games that you are trying to play. Please try and be constructive here.Eios1234 (talk) 16:50, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Eios1234[reply]
Response to: Er! Excuse me , your slip is showing!
Truthfully, I am not sure what you are getting after here friend.
I do not know User:Enigmatic1986, but I do feel that he should be aware of the constant harassment that I am getting from you as well, regardless of his situation. If he was aware of your actions with me, he may not want to seek help from someone "helps" like you.
In terms of the warning that User:68.110.238.158 left you, I saw this when I went to your talk page before warning User:Enigmatic1986 of your harassment. In terms of knowing what user User:68.110.238.158 is thinking, thats preposterous. I simply stated that another had accused you of it because when I responded to comments made by you [[4]], I saw that another user had recommended that you stop making those edits shown here [[5]]. Apparently that user User:68.110.238.158 is having the same problems with you that I am having. I do not know if that is a coincidence, but it is something that I saw when I was writing on your page and not so ironically, it was a recent item so it was right in my face when I loaded your page, it would be kind of hard not to read friend. In terms of you warning other users about 3RR warnings, it seems that you are using Wikipedia to play some games with other users. You really need to take it easy and you really need to stop following me around. Hopefully the admins will realize the amount of harassment and games you like to play.
In terms of the other user, User:68.110.238.158, I am concerned that is why I have asked if there is a way to find my IP address to make sure no one is using my browser history. If I am being followed then that means it is you and another user who are using the same tactics on me. Eios1234 (talk) 04:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Eios1234[reply]

'Formerly known as Bombay'

[edit]

Mumbai is known as Bombay in English speaking countries. Much like Beijing is Peking, or indeed Roma is Rome, Paris (Par-ee) is Paris (Par-ris) or Munchen is Munich.

To suggest that it is 'formerly known as Bombay' is incorrect, and this is giving inaccurate information on the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.210.132.148 (talk) 09:31, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I normally do not feel obliged to respond to anon editors. But your understanding of Mumbai-Bombay seems wierd. Maybe you were born after 1996 so let me tell you the Mumbai was known as Bombay in English till then. That was the name used on all nameboards , government offices , letters etc. After Mumbai became the official name(in English) it is now incorrect to use Bombay in official correspondence. Personal correspondence is another matter altogether. In case you have any doubts watch the weather forcasts/reports on BBC and CNN. They use Mumbai , not Bombay. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 04:33, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am born long before 1996. I am well aware what the BBC call it, but this does not make it correct. English speakers resident in India refer to it as Bombay, as evidenced on sites such as the following: http://bombayhighcourt.nic.in/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.210.132.148 (talk) 17:54, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh! I am really getting tired of you. Lets make one point very clear: Bombay was reanmed to Mumbai. Get it? Which means for all official purposes you are supposed to use Mumbai for official communication. What people call the city in their personal communication is nobody's business. I call it Bomboi in my native tongue. The govnt cannot hang me for it. But if i write it as Bombay in official communication(in English) it is incorrect. Please see formerly in the dictionary or something. The Europeans can pronounce it any way they like. That is not our business. The statement simply states that Mumbai was previously known as Bombay. The fact that the highcourt, or the stock exchange or IIT or some private company called Bombay Dyeing continues to use the old name does not affect tis official status. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 04:31, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both names have separate lineage and continue to co-exist, depending on what part of the world you are in. I will not revert your edits, as you shall only revert them back. The Wikipedia entry for Mumbai/Bombay shall therefore remain inaccurate and misleading to anybody using it.

PS. You might want to check out the wiki entry on Beijing. This rightfully notes that the city is known in English as 'Peking' (although the BBC and much of the Western media also find it fashionable to call it Beijing), which is the correct example that this should follow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.210.132.148 (talk) 19:34, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We come across many edits to the Bombay part. Some want to deny that it was ever known as Bombay. Others want to deny that it is now officially Mumbai. What side of the fence you sit on depends on your views on the renaming. In Wikipedia , we do not take sides, but insist on facts. All such edits which have personal views are removed. If you feel that you have a valid argument, you should have discussed it on the article's talk page, instead of taking it in a 1-on-1 with me. In fact you should have done that in the first place. Just check the Mumbai article talk page. and also the history. You will find many renamings. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 04:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not to mention making rude comments like "yawn" at the same time. And I can delete your talk on my page, cause you are being rude. Ninadhardikar (talk) 05:02, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As i asked earliar, what are you trying to achieve by posting the same message on my talk page almost 15 times now ? As per the guidelines I can delete the content on my talk page, so I do not know why are you warning me against it.

I have already made it clear that I have read your message, and I do not agree with you. And you do not agree with me either. So what's the point of continually posting messages on my talk page? Ninadhardikar (talk) 14:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Deepak D'Souza. User:Ninadhardikar asked for editor assistance in a posting here. There seems to be some uncertainty about whether one is permitted to remove other users' comments on one's own talk page. The very short answer is, yes (although archiving the comments is preferred). See this link to the relevant guideline. Accordingly Ninadhardikar is entitled to remove your comments from his user talk page, and you should stop adding them back. I hope this clears up any confusion on the point. Thank you! JohnInDC (talk) 14:38, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

regarding unblock

[edit]

I consider it a trial run. It's a lot easier to hold named accounts accountable, and since they have more of a stake in editing it's easier to show what's right and working and what's wrong and not working. Option #2 would be to let a rather legitimate complaint (albeit expressed entirely poorly) sit hanging around on an IPs talk. <shrug> That doesn't seem fair. my response

[edit]

I would rather obviously have a discussion of content on the AFD rather than hypothesizing about motives. In editing Sri Lanka pages, I see numerous jingoists and bellicose young men turning wikipedia into a soapbox and spending hours upon days deconstructing each other's motives. My perusing of certain incidents was merely aimed to show that all of us in one way are POV-pushers, and that a short look at the context made it look like it took two (user:bakasuprman and you) to tango and that none are totally pure in terms of edits. But I think you were right, I appeared to be defending certain users which I really could care less about. The content on the page was not misrepresented, otherwise I would have looked at the statement much differently. Sorry if I insulted you, I will of course work on not coming across as pugnacious in the future. This case is one that inspired study among researchers of communal conflict in S. Asia and is one that I spent much time examining.21:33, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you! Your kind words are greatly appreciated. Yeah, the darn software problem! :) Though we haven't worked closely before, I look forward to any opportunity in the future. Best regards, Mspraveen (talk) 14:10, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting comments from talk page

[edit]

Please don't remove my comments from Talk:Christianity_in_India Thank you. 67.169.0.250 (talk) 08:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC) Learn to respect talk page guidelines, and stop treating wikipedia as a forum. Then I wont delete your comments. Why dont you create an account? --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 08:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let's see: first you attack my opposing point of view as "nonsense" and then you "accuse" me of being a sock, and after that you continue to delete my perfectly legitimate comments. From what I can see you are already violating WP:NPA, WP:CIV, and WP:CON. 67.169.0.250 (talk) 02:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you have a problem with my conduct please feel free to post on Admin noticeboard, because I certainly may do so. As for creating an account, can you point out which wikipedia policy requires creation of an account. 67.169.0.250 (talk) 02:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you use terms like "martians" to represent a relegiuons community. You were trivializing a debate and treating it as a forum. The factual accuracy of your points is a totally different matter alotgether. I am perfectly within my rights to delete such nonsense. I didnt say that you have to creaqte an account, but that it is better to create an account because in case multiple ips it is difficult to track which user edited what. You cn certainly take the Isuue to the ANI. I wont delete your comment this time but i will strike it off for the same reason I did before. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 18:47, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mr.D'souza , You were not "perfect" in deleting talkpage. Why dont you let WP commuity decide the significance of those discussions. -Bharatveer (talk) 05:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As per WP rules, I am not required to do either of your "instructions". I again request you not to delete talk page discussion.-Bharatveer (talk) 11:27, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you dont want me to post here, first stop posting on mine without any reason. -Bharatveer (talk) 11:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your last post in my talk page says much about. SO you delete discussion from talk page because you FEEL it is irrelevant and you will post in my talk page because you FEEL you are right. Buddy , keep those feelings to yourself. Don't delete any discussions from talk page. -Bharatveer (talk) 11:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dsouza, I think you need to cool down yourself first. Remember that you started this pointless discussion on talkpage. Remember that you started the "pestering" accusation. Remember that I had just asked you to stop deleting discussion from talkpage. I again request you to reconsider deleting discussion in article talk page.-Bharatveer (talk) 05:19, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you consider this personal message as a "personal message"; then there is seriously wrong with your perceptive skills. There is no point in any further discussion, I will delete any further message coming from you on this topic-Bharatveer (talk) 06:25, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Deepak this is Bluestar from incubator.

Thanks for your complements!

As you know, we have requested for Tulu edition of Wikipedia. Can you please vote here in favour of Tulu Wikipedia?

Thanks in advance, ---VinodSBangera (talk) 12:19, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot Deepak, for voting in favour of Tulu Wikipedia. Let me know if you need any such support stuff for the Konkani Wikipedia. Konakani test project is going on great. It has so many active contributors and Konkani Wiki will be a reality soon! My wishes with you. Keep going.... :) --VinodSBangera (talk) 12:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

I've blocked you for 12 hours for disruptive editing at User talk:Bharatveer. Editors have every right to remove comments from their own talk page whenever they like, as I'm sure you know. Your reverting smacked of WP:POINT. Moreschi (talk) 21:46, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Deepak. Mangalore is a Featured article candidate again (Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Mangalore). It would be very helpful if you decide whether Mangalore deserves to be featured on Wikipedia or not. You can do that either by Supporting/Opposing the Article. Hope to see your decision at the FAC. Your comments are very much required. Thanks, KensplanetTalkE-mailContributions 13:11, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all and thanks for your kind words. Kensplanet (talk) 08:50, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Review Request

[edit]

Hello, Deepak. Can you give me a short review of the Mangalorean Catholics article, in a sense that can you tell me do I need to add something more or any other suggestions on the content. Since you may have a good knowledge about the topic. I'm planning to make it a Good article and later on a Featured Article. There's no hurry. Take your own time. Thanks, Kensplanet (talk) 13:54, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Guidance Barnstar
I, Kensplanet award Deepak D'Souza this Guidance Barnstar for his excellent guidance and comments related to Mangalorean and Konkani related articles. Keep it up !!! KensplanetTalkE-mailContributions 17:38, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to clean it up, please visit when you have time Taprobanus (talk) 12:16, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Keep a watch on it please and any help in cleaning up is appreciated. I want to make at minimum a good article. Taprobanus (talk) 13:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for changing the title. Wouldnt it be more appropriate to call it Discrimination against Bihari immigrants in India? Docku:“what up?” 14:05, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have added synthesis tag in the article, Discrimination faced by the Bihari community in India. Could you please comment on that so that the article can be improved. I would also suggest you to go through the references on the basis of which the article have been written. Manoj nav (talk) 10:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes , I do want the photo of the cover of A description in Konkani.Sanfy

You have reverted this again, with not the best of reasons. First of all, if another article has problems as well, it is no reason to let this continue in this article too. Furthermore, religion is much more controversial than nationality in most cases, making it a much more serious WP:BLP violation. I'll bring this article to the attention of the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard to get a third opinion on this. Fram (talk) 14:35, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Check source before you revert. Don't rely on second hand info

I do not consider it necessary to respond to sockpuppeteers. I will revert your edits . --Deepak D'Souza 06:17, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot revert because page 319 of the book clearly mentions what the article says.

Heavy vandalism

[edit]

There is a heavy vandalism currently on the Mangalorean Catholics page. Should we request a page protection. KensplanetTalkContributions 09:25, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

101% Sure. It's our same good freind. At 9:45, he was blocked. At 9:56, this edit was made. KensplanetTalkContributions 10:16, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. Sanfy has been blocked. This will teach him a lesson that Wiki has no place for jokes. KensplanetTalkContributions 13:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Deepak. Could you tell me the images here on this page http://books.google.com/books?id=8WNEcgMr11kC&printsec=frontcover#PPA517,M1 are in the public domain. The book was first published in 1914. Although this one is a reprint, but the images were clicked around 1880's. Are they in The PD.? Re. Your comments on my edits at Invasion of Goa

[edit]

Deepak, there's no personal attack whatsoever in my edit summary, please do not reduce to insignificance the notion of "personal attack", which is something serious and which hasn't even a remote resemblance to my sentence. What you classify as a "discussion" on that talk page, I usually classify as a classic display of trolling. There are no Wikipedia conventions establishing the usage of diacritics, just a long established practice to use them whenever they are the only difference between the local form of a name, and its respective English form. Using far-fetched calls for references for something easily proven as the Portuguese name "Mormugão", used at the time of the events described in the article, is not only grossly unreasonable as it also brings a waste of time and patience to anyone with an intent to embrace a constructive discussion. Hence, nobody taking your points seriously and abandoning the discussion. Regards, Húsönd 22:18, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invasion of Goa

[edit]

Hi. I noticed some recent edit-warring there and subsequently the article was protected. I wonder if you would be willing to hold off on the matter of diacritics in place names while a proper discussion takes place on the talk page? If so, I could unprotect the page. Thanks for your consideration. --John (talk) 04:28, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi John,
I was about to reply on Ragib's talk page when your message came in. I don't mind if you unprotect the page. Anyway the page block was meant to bring the editing parties to discuss, and it has failed because my co-editors have still chosen not to discuss about the topic and chose to discuss about me instead. I waited for two weeks from my last comment knowing that Tigerassault edits only once a week. But there was no response from him or from Husond. Im in two minds about accepting Ragib's suggestion for an RfC. Yes because it seems to be the next logical step. No because the main parties are not interested in discussing any more. When they pointed to Wikipedia naming conventions I demonstrated that their premise was incorrect and waited for two weeks. With no response and feeling justified according to WP:naming conventions I went ahead and made the edits. This issue has dragged for two months already. You can look at the history and see that after the last edit war I did not revert until the discussion was in progress. I only reverted back to my edits because Husond did not discuss. I promise, no more edits or reverts untill the issue is resolved. --Deepak D'Souza 04:49, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your speedy and positive response. I suggest more discussion in talk; but if Wikipedia naming policy suggests something then we should follow it unless there is good reason not to. I have suggested a compromise at the article talk that maybe everybody could live with. Best wishes, --John (talk) 06:03, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would appreciate your assistance at Talk:Invasion of Goa. We need a list in talk of the place names which need to be translated. Thanks in advance if you are able to help. --John (talk) 15:52, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Government of Goa

[edit]

Hi, Deepak, I started have the Government of Goa, but the problem is that I have only 2 references regarding the article. They are PDFs and they are 1 2. Please actively participate.SanfyTalk.

I hope you are around

[edit]

I started a thread related to the unbalanced Akbar article at WP:ANI#Abusive single purpose account. You mentioned that you checked a few of the references and found them to involve synthesis. I'm wondering if these were introduced by More random musing, and in general I would like your opinion on the whole affair. Chedorlaomer (talk) 00:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to keep the trash out, but I think a quick glance at the article history (including your most recent edits) reveals the main obstacle to that article's progress. Chedorlaomer (talk) 07:20, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your edit to akbar page in the section "impression of Hindus" is claiming some fake reference has been used. Please clarify which one do you find fake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by More random musing (talkcontribs) 13:29, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
