[edit]Good day, dear Deb! Thank you for sending the article Mikhail Lomtadze to drafts. I’ll work on it’s improvements taking into confederation all your recommendations. Can you tell me, please; How I may send the article for reviewal (as there is no button for it) after edition? As I would like to bring the article back from deleted to mainspace . Deviloper (talk) 09:59, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Deb, I am a novice user of the English Wikipedia, I want to improve the rejected article for M. Lomtadze, but now I just have the improved version in my draft. While refining and improving the article, I reduced the text and the number and quality of links, and I’d like to get your professional opinion whether this version of the article may be published or not or there are any other comments about the article material, and I would also like to find out which points in the article need to be improved. YOU --- Thanks for your message. I don't normally restore promotional content. To help me decide, could you let me know whether there is a conflict of interest, as described in my message above? Deb (talk) 09:47, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
I am not asking you to restore it, I am wanting to get access to the page so that I can make a copy of it. Thank you Dhaddonpearson (talk) 10:29, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
Deb:
"This category lists administrators who have expressed willingness to provide the text of deleted articles, by adding themselves to this category, placing {{user recovery}} on their user page, or displaying the userbox shown below."
If this is something you are unwilling to do that is your choice I can ask elsewhere. Considering you deleted it I figured that it was reasonable to make this request of you.
Dhaddonpearson (talk) 10:59, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- Quite reasonable to ask, but I will only restore promotional material in exceptional circumstances. Deb (talk) 11:02, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hey Deb,
Hope you're doing great!
I've been trying to update a wikipedia page, but it has been deleted twice on the accounts of promotional activity. Can you kindly help me understand this, as I was not trying to promote anything, intentionally.
Also, please do let me know if it possible to keep the page after removing whatever you think is wrong there?

Speedy Deletion: Sam Adeyemi
[edit]Dear Deb,
Hatchens advised me to contact you on the above subject, because you actually executed the page deletion. I believe the page Sam Adeyemi meets Wikipedia's notability and verifiability requirements, and that the subject deserves a Wikipedia page, for these reasons:
1. He is one of the most notable citizens of Nigeria. 2. He is an author with many published works. 3. He is an international motivational speaker. 4. He is the founder and pastor of one of the most prominent Nigerian megachurches. 5. Many of his less prominent contemporaries already have Wikipedia pages. 6. Many sources were cited for the article, and many more are available. 7. I believe the Sam Adeyemi page deserves improvement, rather than deletion.
I was doing some research and was quite astounded to find no Wikipedia page on him, hence my decision to work on creating the page. Everything I wrote was based on publicly available information, from many sources. Apart the cited sources, many any others are available and can be provided. I am not connected with the subject in any way, and have no reason whatsoever to promote him or his ministry.
I believe having a Wikipedia page on the subject would be of encyclopedic value, and do hereby request re-creation of the page. Thank you. ProfParochus (talk) 04:39, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- ProfParochus To begin with, you should be aware that the article was nominated and deleted for being promotional, not for reasons of notability. Even in your "justification" for what you wrote, you have strayed into promotional wording.
- What evidence can you show for this person being "one of the most notable citizens of Nigeria"?
- There are many, many people who have "many published works" and are not the subject of Wikipedia articles. The quality and significance of those works is far more relevant than the quantity. Self-published works like Adeyemi's don't count towards notability.
- Motivational speakers are two a penny.
- Being pastor of a church you founded yourself is not evidence of notability. What evidence is there that this church is "one of the most prominent" in Nigeria?
- "Other stuff exists" is not an argument.
- Most of the sources were duplicated, and several were primary sources.
- You are entitled to your opinion. In fact, an article on this subject existed previously and was deleted by consensus, after a discussion. Some of those contributing felt that the subject "scraped by" the notability criteria. However, your article did not improve on the original, and was written in a fawning, laudatory manner. Phrases like "with the aim of helping people to realize their life's purpose by impartation of requisite knowledge to discover, develop, release and maximize their hidden potentials" and "with the vision to raise exceptional leaders and managers to transform the world" are not encyclopaedic and don't belong in Wikipedia.
Having read my responses, I hope you understand why the article you wrote was unacceptable. If you care to try again from scratch, please use draft space. Deb (talk) 08:16, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Deb Many thanks for taking the time to clearly explain what was unacceptable in the article's style and substance. I do understood, and have now accordingly written another draft in my sandbox. Please take a look and give your opinion about it.ProfParochus (talk) 14:46, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]I am writing to ask for your help in understanding why the article I submitted on Silicon Sensing was deleted. It is not marketing content. I am not being paid to submit this. Its very basic factual information. I am unsure how to sort this out and would appreciate advice? Thanks PHeleneCox (talk) 14:31, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure why I need to explain why I am trying again as long as the content is factual? However so you understand, last year I failed to upload a piece on this company - which is local to me. I was quite frustrated so set this to one side. I have some time now so thought I would try to get to grips with this again. If I understand correctly I need to link the content to third party verifiable sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by PHeleneCox (talk • contribs) 14:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
I very rarely write on Wikipedia and have never received any compensation or had any other benefit from it - not even for the recently deleted article about . The article is an almost verbatim translation from the German Wikipedia, where it has never been objected to. The software has relevance - thousands of accountants work with it every day, also in the USA. I don't find it overdone in promotional language, it has many references. How can I improve it so that it is accepted? Maybe remove the links to the xsuite website?Alex Kowalski (talk) 20:03, 30 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello Deb, I do not know Abimbola personally. I attended a virtual conference with her and Tina Wells. I found Tina's page and thought it would make sense to use a similar format for the other speaker based on the introduction received at Visa. Didn't seem like a promotion for anything or anyone (especially since it was the exact same format). Was it simply the link to the book or something else? Tovies (talk) 04:01, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Happy New Year @Deb:. This referenced entry was deleted early in December 2020: "Some people offered this scholarship have not accepted it, including Alimuddin Zumla, who declined the scholarship as a teenager to study medicine.[1]" What is your advice regarding including it?

- Thank you for your deep dive and feedback @Deb:. The edit was indeed not made by a sock, but by @Stevenbradley2020: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rhodes_Scholarship&type=revision&diff=992571575&oldid=991761423.
- I have now found the undergraduate reference you are referring to[1]
- Given that one can start undergraduate studies as a teenager and also that one can apply for the scholarship before completing undergraduate studies https://www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk/media/45482/information-for-candidates-zambia.pdf the references citing him declining the Rhodes offer, at that stage of his life, are all consistent.
- Would this be ok? "Some offered this scholarship have declined it, including Alimuddin Zumla.[1][2]" Ear-phone (talk) 16:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your interest in the Year pages. You have done a lot of useful work. I see that you have reverted my edit on Mahlon Pitney, as not being sufficiently internationally notable. It's a coherent viewpoint and have no problem with it: but you should be aware that all I was doing was making the entry consistent with the entry that he has in Births (in 1858). So, I think that you should delete that entry, or at least move it to the US section of Year in Topic if you think it should more appropriately be there. More or less all of the edits that I make to historic Deaths pages are where the subject already has an entry in Births. Rcb1 (talk) 14:11, 27 January 2021 (UTC)rcb1
- I agree, it should come out of 1858. I'll see to that. Deb (talk) 14:17, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your newest edit. I have no problem with your view - I asked myself the question myself. But again I was only making it consistent with the births entry (in 1859). So if you want to delete this, I suggest you delete the births entry, or at least move it to Year in Topic, too.Rcb1 (talk) 12:42, 24 February 2021 (UTC)rcb1
- I don't have enough time to go back over all the old entries, it has already taken me years to get this far; however, I can ensure that no more are added. Deb (talk) 13:05, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Bonsai Empire
[edit]Why was the article Bonsai Empire deleted? "Reads like an ad"? Most of the visitors to Bonsai Empire do not purchase anything -- they go for information, mostly free. The quality videos now available are just an added feature of this educational site. Please reconsider.RJBaran (talk) 15:14, 3 February 2021 (UTC)RJBaran
- You seem to be suggesting that a website can't be advertised, whilst at the same point admitting that things are sold through the website or as a result of its recommendations. You've misunderstood the meaning of "advertising". Deb (talk) 15:16, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
How can any commercial site then have a Wikipedia article? BTW, while I have contributed a couple of articles to Bonsai Empire over the years, I have never received any renummeration from them. I have had to purchase the ebooks my articles were used in. I am a bonsai historian first published in 1991 -- pre-Internet -- and I have written about all aspects of the topic of bonsai. I have contributed to a number of bonsai-related articles on Wikipedia. RJBaran (talk) 15:22, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]hi, you recently deleted an article I was working on. it was my first article and I had spent many many hours creating it. 2021 in the UK
[edit]Not sure if you edit much on the 2021 in the United Kingdom page, but since you're from the UK I thought I'd let you know that earlier today I went on and updated the Deaths section to include missing deaths of people from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - adding people who were up until then missing from that page but were in the Deaths in January 2021 page, among others. Since that opened up more space for images of prominent recently deceased Brits, I went ahead and included many as well, rather than just one, oversized image like it was previously. I updated the overall style and format to bring it in line with the main 2021 page (and several other Year in Topic pages), such as using dates of birth instead of age. It took several hours to complete, only for another user to carpet remove everything I did shortly after, claiming that there was over-link (which if so, then.... why would he not do the same to other pages, including the main 2021 page?). If you are able to, it would be amazing if you were able to help back me up on that page in case attempts were made to mass revert again, and help consolidate the changes made to update the page. --Thescrubbythug (talk) 09:34, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Restoration of GeorgeNotFound (redirect)
[edit]Hi there! I noticed that you deleted the GeorgeNotFound page, which was a redirect to Dream (YouTuber). Unless the redirect had been edited without me noticing, the page was definitely pointing to an existing page. It was even cited in this Redirects for creation discussion, which eventually led to another redirect being created which targeted the same page as the deleted redirect. I did consider that you might have accidentally deleted the redirect since it had been linking (but not redirecting) to the deleted draft, Draft:GeorgeNotFound, as the redirect had the {{R with possibilities}} template with it. Because of that, and since the redirect was a related topic to the target page, would it be alright to restore the deleted redirect? It would have been impossible that the redirect pointed to the draft in the first place, as article namespace redirects are never supposed to point to drafts. Many thanks and have a nice day! Chlod (say hi!) 09:17, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Chlod, you're right. I didn't look carefully enough at that. Having said that, I don't see much justification for the redirect, since they are not the same person. Had the draft been approved, it would have gone into that space in any case. What am I missing? Deb (talk) 09:38, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- I'm fairly sure that redirects are allowed to point to related topics (or specifically "
Sub-topics or other topics which are described or listed within a wider article.
"), given that the target discusses a related topic — which is why the {{R to related topic}} template exists, and which is why the redirect created in the AFC (which is also a person) was permitted. The relation of the target page to the redirect is also established (or at least it can be since there are sources[1][2] which can establish such a relation). As such, I don't see much reason on why the redirect should have been deleted. Chlod (say hi!) 09:56, 13 February 2021 (UTC) - Chlod It only happened because the delete process for the draft pointed me to the "article", which I saw was a redirect, but didn't look closely enough at what it was redirecting to. So yes, the cancellation was for an incorrect reason. But no other articles link to the title, so where is its value as a redirect? Deb (talk) 10:13, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
- Per WP:R#KEEP, redirects are usually preserved in order to aid future editors when writing articles and would
[make] the creation of duplicate articles less likely
. Under that same point, it discusses thatredirects with no incoming links are not candidates for deletion
. Prior to deletion, the redirect had the {{R with possibilities}} template – an indication that an article could be created in the future. Although the draft for the article was deleted, it wasn't deleted due to a lack of notability, but due to G11 (promotional content), which means that the subject still has a possibility of creation. Considering that the subject is likely to be notable some time in the future (since they are closely related to a notable subject, and is receiving media attention themselves), keeping the redirect would be beneficial for links in future articles on related topics (whenever they may be created) or for the promotion of the creation of an article, essentially graduating the redirect into a fully-fledged article. Even if the redirect didn't have incoming internal links, it could have still been linked to on other pages or could have been searched for (e.g. through https://wikipedia.org, which resolves redirects). For those reasons, its value as a redirect might not be visible now, but may be in the long-term. Chlod (say hi!) 10:35, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I got a message saying that a few years ago you moved the page 2009 Damallsvenskan to Draft:2009 Damallsvenskan. I could not see this page, so I drafted a new version, using the Swedish Football Association's site as source: Draft:2009 Damallsvenskan. Is it possible to merge the 2 versions?
I got to work on this page because I have a red link to it on a page I'm working on, Manon Melis, which is currently at WP:GAN. Ideally I woul like to remove the red link. Thanks, Edwininlondon (talk) 22:36, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Clayton Howe's Entertainmentx
[edit]Deb,
Clayton Howe's Entertainmentx is a podcast that has been around for over three years. He has had, on his show, many guests that do in fact have their own wikipedia pages. I created the page "Clayton Howe's Entertainmentx" has a reference for those interested in continuing their education and connecting the dots of existing wikipedia pages regarding the show. I am confused as to why this page was "Speedy deleted" when "The Joe Rogan" podcast and Anna faris "unqualified" podcast both have pages similar to "Clayton Howe's Entertainmentx" which was deleted. Additionally, I would like to recover my hard work on the page. Please advise.

Deletion: Vidya Rattan Sharma
[edit]Dear Deb,
Hope you are doing great. This is regarding the deletion of page Vidya Rattan Sharma. I believe the page meets Wikipedia's notability and verifiability requirements, and that the subject deserves a Wikipedia page. The article was tagged for deletion for two reasons, at first it read more like an advertisement and secondly, it seemed like a resume.
I have redrafted the article & before publishing it, I would like to take your suggestion on it. Please check the draft here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Vidya_Rattan_Sharma
I believe having a Wikipedia page on the subject would be of encyclopedic value and do hereby request re-creation of the page. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rohitnwi (talk • contribs) 06:59, 17 February 2021 (UTC)
- I can't see any improvement on the previous version. What is your connection with the subject of the article? Deb (talk) 12:09, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- I am nowhere connected to the person. However, I use to improve & create articles related to the industry. Some changes that I have done are removing the content that looked promotional & adding references to high authority independent news sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rohitnwi (talk • contribs) 06:02, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

- "He was always a scholar in studies and was also the captain of Hockey team in his school and university in India." This is puffery; it's not relevant to the article and is not referenced.

DbVisualizer
[edit]Hi Deb,
I wrote an article here, based on the Swedish article about Dbvisualizer. You flagged it as advertisement so I would just like some pointers on what to change to make it less so because that was never my intention. I love IT and technology and I do wanna point out what made something be where it is today but of course, it shouldn't be a "selling" article. I don't want that either.
Thank you in advance!

- Spent a while looking for the "article" - turns out it was just a draft. The original article was deleted twice before I even saw it. The fact that an article exists in another Wikipedia doesn't, of course, mean that it is going to be automatically accepted here. I'm willing to restore the draft, on condition that you can assume me you have no outside connection with the subject of the article. Deb (talk) 12:08, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Deb, I am indeed an IT-professional, but in another field. I work in IT-security and spend my days (and sometimes nights) monitoring traffic to the networks of banks and other major customers, looking for security threats in real-time. I do not work with databases, which is was DbVisualizer is about. But as a fellow Swede, I am aware of the popularity of the software, hence the original article in Swedish.
- I know that precedent is not a big thing with Wikipedians, so automatic acceptance was not expected. But I assume the underpinning principles are the same for all language versions of Wikipedia. Please get back to me regarding what should be modified or deleted for the text to be accepted and not flagged as advertisement.Hagelin-Linder (talk) 09:53, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

[edit]I really don't get this, how can one person make a decision to delete an article? And why is there no time to discuss the issue (s)? There are many articles about politicians and I followed a template and style used by an existing published one. I have used, what seems to me, to be neutral language. I have provided references from many different sources. I have done research on the person. The city of London is approaching 500,000 people so it seems a councillor here may have some importance. KenDavison3 (talk) 23:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- KenDavison3 In response to your questions:
- Only administrators can delete an article, and we do so in accordance with the Wikipedia guidelines.
- Had you not moved the article out of draft without waiting for a review, you would have received constructive comments from more experienced contributors as to was wrong with it.
- Please read the criteria for inclusion of local politicians. Most of your references were to primary sources.
- You are of course free to request a deletion review, or to start again from scratch, but I would recommend you do so in draft space. Deb (talk) 10:43, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
This is my first attempt to publish an article. I realized from the start that getting a person published was a challenge thus I spent over a year in draft mode trying to be sure that I was providing a good candidate for publishing. I have read various rules but it seems impossible to follow them all and clearly some decisions are opinions made by one or two people. I'm am trying to learn but we all make mistakes while learning. (it appears I'm good at learning by mistake). I went looking for how to publish the article and it told me to move it, nothing was mentioned about having it reviewed. I would appreciate if you could move this back into my draft area so that I can get it reviewed. The Notability requirements are subjective so I have no real way of determining if this particular person is notable. For example the City of Toronto seems to have 25 notable councillor, many of which seem to have done less than Arielle has. City of Windsor also has councillors which are notable.
You point out that most of my references are to primary sources. This is good isn't it?
Thanks KenDavison3 (talk) 16:32, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- KenDavison3, Here are some pointers. As far as I can see, apart from a few edits under your old name in 2010-2011, the draft of this article was your first contribution on Wikipedia. Guidelines change over the years, and new editors normally practise a bit with small changes to other articles before trying to create one from scratch. If you had done that, it would have helped you get to grips with the basics. Now tell me if I'm wrong about what happened next.
- When you first created the draft, this message appeared at the top of the page:
Does that look familiar? It tells you that you have six months to work on the article. It also tells you how to submit it for review.
- At your first attempt, the draft was deleted as a copyright infringement. You recreated it in draft.
- After you had neither improved it nor submitted it for review in six months, your draft got deleted, in accordance with procedure, and you requested that it be restored.
- It was restored, you worked on it a bit more and then decided, despite your previous experiences, that it was ready to publish. Is it really so surprising that it then got deleted again?
- You write: "most of my references are to primary sources. This is good isn't it?" No, it's not. References to primary sources are allowed, but they don't help to establish notability because they are not independent. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources.
- You ask "I would appreciate if you could move this back into my draft area so that I can get it reviewed." I understand that, but it's not your draft area; it's an area where other people could have helped you with your article. I'll do this, this one time, but I can't guarantee that the draft won't be deleted again, for the same reasons, by someone else. So as soon as it's restored, you'll need to start work on fixing it. It will be here. Deb (talk) 17:10, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Deleted article under false pretenses
[edit]Hello Deb, you recently deleted an article I had written about a local advertising agency. The reason I had written the article is to provide educational information on the company and to differentiate it from a different company with the same name (DM Digital UK). The other DM Digital article has caused a lot of confusion for the agency and I was trying to set the record straight by creating a public, well-informed article surrounding the company. Aleem Zafar
[edit]Hi,
I think you removed everything from the page Aleem Zafar. So here's my two cents on this, apparently what I've noticed everyone over here who rejects or accepts it has a different mindset of criteria to accept or reject the article. For one it might be promising and for others its more like not relevant at all. I've been editing the changes as required and told by the people before. I think this topic is extremely subjective, I've mentioned this before as well that all the sources I provided here are the best news sources from the country the artist belongs from. I've made my research as well, also I think there was a page by this name previously as well. Now you mentioned copyright issue, I doubt that it's a copyright issue. An artist biography on any website is publicly available and can be used anywhere until stated by the person that it should not be used elsewhere, now to add on if anyone rewrites something from references he or she will have to take the persons permission for copyright issue and I assume wiki does not allow this as well due to the fact that the article should be independent and from my research the content written here was firstly written on wikipedia then it was copied elsewhere because a lot of other websites have an old copy of the older wiki article this guy had. Now no matter what with this reason you cannot put a biography in your own special words when all the words used are literally the only ones you can used.
Removing everything was a bit harsh of a reaction I would say & I've no connection to the account you've mentioned earlier yet I can see that person made edits to this article as well. This article was definitely not the one's like you can say has 0 relevance, the guy has worked with several Bollywood actors from what I can see and you can see as well, has his music on different platforms. It's always better to atleast suggest something instead of just deleting it all along.
Thank you, everything I wrote above is with all due respect :) cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiranin69 (talk • contribs) 11:49, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion: SaberZ
[edit]Good night Deb,
I started my page a few years ago and it got deleted due to promotional activity last year. I tried to recover it but apparently the person i was discussing with simply ignored me, so i created it again today, removing anything that could be seen as promotion, but you've deleted it again, even though there's nothing promotional on the page.
Please, could you kindly help me understand what's wrong or what information is promotional? Maybe i just missed something. I already explained that any promotional activity on the page was totally unintentional, and i obviously do not wish to use wikipedia for advertising.
By removing whatever promotional activity left on the page (which i highly doubt there's any), is it possible to please get it back? 🥺
Thank you 😊

Yes, i have - a couple of times, and i still don't know what's wrong since i removed everything but two sentences in the introduction.
About my username, it's just the username i use for any website or social media. Is it relevant? (Asking because wikipedia doesn't ask you to create a specific form of username)
Edit: Well, i think i forgot to remove the external links from the draft. I had a backup copy of it and the only thing i removed was the promo part in the introduction/biography before creating the draft again, and i totally forgot about that section since it's at the bottom of it. Creation of new page for Briggs Equipment UK
[edit]Hi Deb,
Hope you are well?
In January 2021, you marked a draft for Briggs Equipment UK for speedy deletion as it was written in a promotional style. After reading through your feedback and the Wikipedia article guidelines, I have redrafted the copy text ready for it to be submitted.
However, on the article wizard tool there is a prompt to contact yourself before proceeding with the submission, so I would be grateful if you could confirm the correct process for resubmitting this page?
Many thanks for your assistance. TP1992BriggsEquipment (talk) 22:40, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Esmaa Mohamoud article
[edit]Hi Deb. I see you tagged the Esmaa Mohamoud article with the orphan, advert, and citations tags. It looks pretty well cited to me, and I don't read it as an advertisement. I removed the orphan tag as it has been linked in 4 articles. Would you object if I remove the other 2 tags? Could you say why you added those? Thanks. (I put this note on the article's talk page, but it looks as if you may not be responding to messages sent to your user ID. Sorry if this is repetitive. --Unionpearl (talk) 00:18, 10 March 2021 (UTC) Unionpearl It's hard for me to remember what I did yesterday, let alone two years ago. However, reading it over again, I can see why I tagged it for promotional language. It still reads as if it was written by the subject's PR team. Deb (talk) 09:35, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
Peter Gries page
[edit]Apologies, Deb, that I was unaware of the COI issue on the webpage about me that my former employer created years ago that I recently updated. It was out of date. It looks like the issues are "cleanup" and "neutral point of view." I can remove most of the lengthy "articles" section to keep things more concise/clean and reduce any appearance of promotion. Anything else you would like? Petergries88 (talk) 10:16, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]The point of Wikipedia is to provide information lmao this site is useless without google so don't use that as a reason for why my page is irrelevant. based opinions
[edit]ok first off an encyclopedia provides information for people to look people, things, words up which WITHOUT GOOGLE wouldn't be happening. please don't play the admin card either dude I am trying to tell you that your argument is non based and there is no reasoning behind it. Also the Wikapedia guidelines state that Wikipedia is written largely by amateurs. Those with expert credentials are given no additional weight. Wikipedia is also not subject to any peer review for scientific, medical, or engineering articles. One advantage of having amateurs write in Wikipedia is that they have more free time on their hands to make rapid changes in response to current events. The wider the general public interest in a topic, the more likely it is to attract contributions from non-specialists. stating that i do not have to listen to you say that this is "advertisement" or "irrelevant". Speedy Deletion:Chinese Rainbow Network
[edit]Hi Deb, The Chinese Rainbow Network I created was marked Speedy Deletion because I added a few external links for the said organization in good intention of providing useful information to the readers, also it was my fault that I wasn't completely finished the article when I first created. Since it was marked as Speedy deletion, I already removed the external link section to avoid the impression of promotion (it's not), and I added extended contents about the organization's history. Yet, it was deleted right the way. I am here petition for the recovery of the article, if you disagree, can you get me a copy of the deleted contents? Thanks. YNOT at the Movies (talk) 20:40, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
The fact that this article was put on Speedy deleted reflects the systematic bias from the Wiki editors. The definition on notability is defined from the perspective of white/English-speaking perspective. If an article addresses a non-English speaking organization but little known to the group of editors, then despite the fact that this organization has a tremendous impact on a large population way more than a local gay men's choir, it will be put on speedy deletion list. The large amount notable evidences for my article's subject isn't on mainstream media (although I didn't have time to locate the link from WSJ's coverage of this organization I wrote about a few years back), I doubt any of those wiki editors have ever come across when they put this under speedy deletion, and it's not as easy as you can cite with an url or a book in this social media age (which is why I didn't include them at the first place). I have no conflict of interest in writing this article and honestly I have been reluctant to spend time to protest the systemic bias from the wiki editors. I think my keeping silent will continue to prolong this trend. It's totally unacceptable! But to be on the record, I want my protest to be heard. YNOT at the Movies (talk)
- Ynotswim, We're all aware of this as a potential problem, but your protest would have more meaning if you had made the effort to find some sources to support your contention that this organisation had some notability. We have the guidelines in order to reduce the danger of bias, and the fact that you "didn't have time" to go and find sources, as other people do, suggests that it wasn't that important to you, which effectively nullifies your argument. Deb (talk) 20:08, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- Deb, When I said I didn't have the time perhaps I chose the wrong word which might be misleading. What I really wanted to say was that I found the subject has great merit to have an entry for people who seek information about it, but I didn't have the time at the moment of writing up the article to dig out the so called mainstream media coverage to fit the notability test, because I am just like any volunteer on Wikipedia by doing this at spare time. It's also because it's way harder for an organization whose mainly actives are on a non-English speaking platform but operate in the US and beyond that doesn't have the traditional "coverage" as newspapers or TV coverage that can be easily cited (I do remember there was a WSJ profile story, but I didn't have their subscription in order to access their archives to come up a citation). Here is an example, you have to have an account in order to access contents on 微信公众平台, yet almost every Chinese speaking individual (that's more than a billion people) has one, but I cannot easily link to any coverage to contents on it. I protest the systematic racial bias is because the root of the problem is the so-called rules for creating a new article against writing entries about organizations like this. It makes the writers much harder to create an article that overs a non-white non-English speaking subject and it's much easier for the editors to delete one. It does have dire consequences - it prevents people like myself from creating entries for years so I don't have to spending time to argue why an entry should not be deleted. Your comment implying me didn't try harder is similar to the tactics in voter suppression which set up rules to make it harder for minorities to vote and blaming them not trying hard to prove themselves who can vote. It's time to make some changes! It's 2021 already! YNOT at the Movies (talk)
- I don't understand what you mean by "I cannot easily link to any coverage to contents on it". Deb (talk) 17:15, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- BTW, "systemic" and "systematic" are two different things. Deb (talk) 17:21, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Deb, That's because you view contents on a phone's app, instead of a URL you can cite. If the article I wrote were not marked as Speedy Deletion, I would have more time to get the other citations needed to meet the "notability" requirement. But, no, it's gone less than 24 hours before I could even save a copy of the contents I wrote because I didn't expect it would have such a fate. If each CRN's post can reach tens of thousands of Chinese-speaking LGBT individuals, if it have dispersed scholarship to LGBT students for years, and if it organized numerous webinars to support the Chinese LGBT community, and you tell me that this organization is not fit for Wikipedia's notability test than any of these organizations?! It clearly reflects the systematic racism on Wikipedia. It's time to stop the racism on Wikipedia and stop Asian hate in the society! YNOT at the Movies (talk)
- Next time, use the draft facility to create a new article and you will get constructive criticism from more experienced contributors and are less likely to get your article deleted. Drafts don't get deleted for lack of notability, only for advertising. Deb (talk) 18:33, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
- Deb, That's precisely my point that the speedy deletion is completely based on one editor's biased judgement as advertising then the article is immediately removed by another editor without even reading it, or perhaps read it but with also biased opinions. The message you sent to me only made me believe that the real reason for the deletion is due to notability because it's not an advertising by any means. I do not advise for anything or anybody, and I only contribute to wikipedia on my spare time for the good to the general public to access information. Yet, I am constantly frustrated by the arrogant attitude from the racially biased Wikipedia editors. Why not send that article back to draft stage and add more constructive comments as you suggested? Instead, it's deleted immediately. YNOT at the Movies (talk)
- Why not start it in draft space? And why do you think that it's "completely based on one editor's biased judgement"? No one places those tags or carries out the deletion without reading the article, so it was based on the judgement of at least two people in this case. The bias is all on your side because you want to believe that you wrote a good article. But the truth is that you didn't. If you want to contest it you can always go to a deletion review where other editors can give their opinions as well. Deb (talk) 08:19, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I had written to you some weeks ago regarding a page that you deleted. [edit]Hi Deb, thank you for your comment. I displayed the COI as a sign of good practice, but I feel you undid my work without reading the page? You claim my sources are internal, they are all external and from press articles. You claimed it was promotional, when in reality what I did was eliminate bias from the original page in spanish, that was immediately approved when I did so, and then translated the unbiased version. My COI is minimal, I work for another company and temporarily I'm checking on other companies from my city to make sure that there is a version of their pages in english when they are international. The only "promotion" here is trying to make as much information from this area of northern Spain available. Please, I need to find my article again so I can fix it. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pupypau (talk • contribs) 11:58, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Pupypau, please read the guidelines on advertising to which I referred you. Don't try to create new articles until you have some experience. Deb (talk) 12:06, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Debt, I had already read them since I've spent since November working on my first article. It's been deleted without meeting the speedy deletion criteria. Since you deleted it, I can't even check to see if I find what you are talking about. If it meets the criteria in other wikipedia languages, why you decided it doesn't in english? the page talked about: What kind of company it is. It's history. The type of products they managed since it's an huge industry and telecom doesn’t mean anything anymore. The technology it uses. The associations it participates in. I've spent months learning about the telecom industry and reviewed similar international companies and worte the article in the same fashion. Could I at least recover the text to review it? It has the companies history, since it is history it cannot be biased and now I have no way to access it... Thanks,.
- Pupypau, if you keep insisting that you, with your very limited experience, know better than an administrator, I don't see why I should engage with you any further. Deb (talk) 12:51, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Dear deb, I'm not fighting to see who knows more, this is not personal. I'm asking for my text back to review it. You are listed on the page of moderators that are willing to give deleted articles info to users, furthermore, in the deletion policy it's stated that I can request access to a copy of my deleted article:
- "Any user with a genuine reason to view a copy of a deleted page may request a temporary review (or simply ask an administrator to supply a copy of the page). Note that these requests are likely to be denied if the content has been deleted on legal grounds (such as defamation or copyright violation), or if no good reason is given for the request."
My genuine reason is I don't have a copy of the page, and it is of my creation, not an edit from another user and that has factual information that I'd like to recover in order to be able to review the article and learn so I can participate in the future.
- I don't restore promotional content. And please, please get into the habit of signing your posts. Deb (talk) 13:05, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Dear Deb, the content was not promotional. The speedy deletion criteria also states that it has to be on the grounds of "Unambiguous advertising or promotion material". I don’t see how can you claim that about a company's history, the organizations it participates in and so on... I accept that I have to review my text and learn, in order to be able to perfectly meet the wikipedia guidelines as much as it's possible, but I don't accept the claim that my article was "promotional" because that is simply not true: According to wikipedia: "Promotion (marketing), one of the four marketing mix elements, comprising any type of marketing communication used to inform or persuade target audiences of the relative merits of a product, service, brand or issue" The page you deleted didn't mention product or service attributes, in fact, I had deleted all qualifying adjectives from the spanish draft. My claim, I insist, is not personal. I made a thorough work and I want to be able to review and improve it.
- Pupypau, Another experienced user warned you that the page was promotional and advised you to confine yourself to Spanish wikipedia because of your poor English. I will not be answering any further comments you may add to my Talk page. Deb (talk) 13:28, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Debt, english is my first language, that experienced user was referring to my own request of deleting a draft that was made by mistake so she was replying to my own personal request and my own deletion tag. Please stop trying to discredit me because not "experienced in wikipedia" means nothing in the real world and means nothing regarding my english or my bias. I will now proceed to report your abuse of power and your rude replies to several users, I guess being experienced on wikipedia doesn't mean being professional.
Good faith and newcomers
Main page: Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers
It is important to be patient with newcomers, who will be unfamiliar with Wikipedia's culture and rules, but may nonetheless turn out to be valuable contributors.
"A newcomer's behavior probably seems appropriate to them, and a problem in that regard usually indicates unawareness or misunderstanding of Wikipedian culture. It is not uncommon for a newcomer to believe that an unfamiliar policy should be changed to match their notion of how things should function, especially if they notice that there is already some level of disagreement over the policy in question. Similarly, many newcomers want to have their contributions to articles accepted without question, especially those which pertain to subjects on which they have extensive knowledge. Behaviors arising from these perspectives, while possibly misguided, are usually not malicious and should not be treated as such. Many new users who lack an intuitive grasp of Wikipedia customs are gradually brought around, once the logic behind these customs becomes clearer to them." "Thus, any edit that is not deliberately unconstructive was not in "bad faith", even if it turns out to be unconstructive. The following things are not "bad faith":
Honest mistakes Errors Poor judgement or lapse in judgement Misunderstanding of Wikipedia policy Misunderstanding another editor's comments Getting too emotionally involved in an article or discussion A typo or misspelling, even if it changes the meaning of the sentence Incredibly poor grammar"
"Keeping that in mind may help you avoid becoming a "biter". To avoid being accused of biting, try to:
Don't Remove, Improve. If something doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards, try to fix the problem rather than just remove what's broken. (Nothing stops new contributors from coming back like having all their hard work end up in the bit bucket.) Avoid intensifiers in commentary (e.g., exclamation points and words like terrible, dumb, stupid, bad, etc.). Moderate your approach and wording. Always explain reverts in the edit summary, and use plain English rather than cryptic abbreviations. Avoid sarcasm in edit summaries and on talk pages, especially when reverting. Strive to respond in a measured manner. Wait, i.e. calm down first. Be gracious. Acknowledge differing principles and be willing to reach a consensus. Take responsibility for resolving conflicts. Reciprocate where necessary. Listen actively. Avoid excessive Wikipedia jargon. When linking to policies or guidelines, do so in whole phrases, not wiki shorthand. Avoid deleting newly created articles, as inexperienced authors might still be working on them or trying to figure something out. Even the most well written and helpful deletion template message may seem frightening or unwelcome to new users. Consider writing a personalised message. Don't fill the page with maintenance templates or join a pile of people pointing out problems. Having multiple people tell you that you did something wrong is unfriendly and off-putting, even when each individual comment is gently phrased and kindly intended. Avoid nominating user talk pages for deletion. Standard welcome or warning messages are both cordial and correcting. Consider using these templates for welcoming, or the first two here for warning."
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
Year articles
[edit]Hi! Excuse me, I was wondering if events had a similar criteria to those of people, if not the same, for inclusion in year articles. Best regards! --NoonIcarus (talk) 20:30, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

- @Celestina007: Sorry for the late response, hi! Many thanks for the response. My question is related to the format of year specific articles. From what I gather, a convention for including people in them is to check if the article has reliable sources as references, if the person already in the relevant Year in Topic articles and in how many languages does the person have an article. I was wondering if a similar criteria applied for events, or if there were important differences. --NoonIcarus (talk) 11:37, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Deb, I need your help since it its my first time :)
[edit]Hi Deb, I recently open a new company page- Identi medical. I tried to write it as informative as I know, and after I've finished, I sent it to preview to get feedback from you guys (As the instructress guide me). But sadly today I received a note from you saying it's an advertisement. So first I apologized but it wasn't my intention at all!. I see all the time pages on Wiki describing different types of companies, I want to do the same. If there are sentences that may look like an advertisement, I'll remove them, but please don't cancel the entire page, how can I avoid writing certain facts (which I know are true) that you consider advertisement if I can tell the difference? When I submitted the draft to review, I thought I will get comments and be able to make the requested adjustments. I read all the guidelines you have, but it's hard to understand all the rules without any assistance on a live example. Please advise me. (Orlorl (talk) 13:59, 30 March 2021 (UTC)) orlorl

[edit]/* Later life */ correction to the erroneous claim that Angela Myers was Terry Thomas' sister-in-law.
[edit]I see that you have undone my correction to the article on Norman Josiffe. The sister-in-law information is completely erroneous. Norman V. Josiffe/Scott was married to Angela Mary Susan Myers, she had one sister, Maria Louise Myers, who was not married to Terry Thomas. Terry was married in 1938 to Ida F. Patlansky/Stern and in 1963 to Anne E. Cunningham. The suggestion that he was Norman's brother-in-law comes from the author of 'A Very English Scandal' who suggested that Terry-Thomas' wife was 'Belinda Myers', sister of 'Sue' (Angela Mary Susan Myers) wife of Norman Scott. Author John Preston's information about this is incorrect. Norman Scott is not referenced in Terry Thomas' biographies, so the information given in the wikipedia article for Norman Josiffe comes from a novel and a tv adaptation (that includes the information on Wikipedia about the speech given by Norman's father-in-law at the wedding) rather than reputable sources. Surely this does not meet any Wikipedia criteria for acceptable sources; can we please edit the article to give reliable information.

User:JamesLucas
[edit]Deb, I appreciate all the good works you've done on the months project over more than a decade, and your recent discussion with JamesLucas on his revisions of the format of these pages. It appears that he has a history of this what I would call revision for the sake of revision; I posted this note on his page:
- Mr. Lucas, I am joining User:Deb in asking that you not do further revisions of the formatting of the "Months of the 20th century" articles that our project participants have been using for more than 10 years when researching and writing . I'm gathering from the discussion in Template talk:Same date that this may have been an extension of removing blue links from the headings, although the substitute you've proposed ("For the same date in other years, see ______" ) after every date is more distracting than having a blue link within the title of the heading. I'm gathering that you're doing this based on the MOS:HEADINGS statement that headings within an article should not include blue links, although I would note that it's a recommendation rather than a mandate. There are literally hundreds of articles in the "Months of the 20th century" project, added to and maintained by a group of people who are dedicated to citing to reliable and verifiable sources, and who regularly patrol the pages for unverifiable additions. Certainly, we would appreciate having you as part of the project in adding information. However, I think I speak for all of us in saying that the revision of the format of each article is unnecessary and that we would prefer that you concentrate on a different project." I think that those of us who have invested a lot of time in creating, updating and maintaining these pages should probably form a group of our own and come to a statement about the format of these pages. If there are any regulars that you know who might be interested, please let me know. Thanks. Mandsford 18:06, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Retaliation for tagging articles for AfD
[edit]Deb, as an experienced user I'd like your advise on how to move forward with slanderous accusations of blackmail against my name. I remember there being a policy that any accusations should be cemented with ironclad proof otherwise be struck but I cannot quite find the policy. Please do advise the proper channel where I can bring this issue to proper attention. Thank you in advance! Nearlyevil665 (talk) 08:21, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- I've added my comments to your response. However, I'm not sure that striking the accusations is the right way to go, as they could be useful evidence if this user returns under another guise. I tend to keep any abuse and false accusations made against me for future reference. Deb (talk) 08:31, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess I was not clear enough. I didn't suggest outright removal, but simply striking through the accusations made as to make it clear for an external observer the claim was unsubstantiated. This is the first time I'm being slandered so I might be taking it to personally. I assume this sort of things naturally come with being active at AfDs. Thanks anyhow! Grand Rounds, Inc. Deleted Page
[edit]Hi Deb -
I'm reaching out because you deleted the Grand Rounds, Inc. Wikipedia page. I updated it earlier in the week to include the company's recent merger with Doctor on Demand which was cited in CNBC and other reputable publications. Can you reinstate the page? I'm not sure what the marketing language or conflict of interest was. I do work with Grand Rounds and can disclose that properly (I didn't know I needed to!), but I made sure that the page didn't have marketing language.
Can you help? The page has been live for many years.

Deletion of sandboxed page Fluxim AG
[edit]Hi You tagged my sandboxed page for rapid deletion and it has subsequently been deleted. My mistake, I assumed the sandbox was my space for working things out before publishing. I wanted to post an article about our company as I had seen the very same from competitors in our field. Could you explain why this article is allowed on Wikipedia Zurich Instruments as this is the template I used? Darren at Fluxim AG (talk) 14:50, 8 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Darren at Fluxim AG. You're right in thinking the sandbox is a space for working on your own articles, but promotional content is not allowed anywhere on Wikipedia. Your user name makes it clear that you have a conflict of interest about which you haven't yet made the required declaration. Thanks for pointing me to the Zurich Instruments article, which was created a very long time ago but has obviously been edited more recently by someone connected with that company - I will be looking into that. However, two wrongs don't make a right, so you will still need to abide strictly by the guidelines if you attempt to recreate the article. I suggest you use draft space for that purpose. - Sorry, 10MB, but I don't restore promotional content (and your talk page is the wrong place anyway). In any case, the article consists mainly of a list of names with inadequate referencing so it would be better for you to start again - in draft space, please. Also, don't forget to disclose your conflict of interest as previously requested. Deb (talk) 07:49, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]At Draft:Berkeley Institute International do you know some changes I could make to make it read better?
I was trying for neutrality not advertisement which is why I wrote "purported to" but maybe I should go further and look for criticism and stuff?
I'm wondering if since the BII seems rather new if perhaps it would just make more sense to have an article about Kenneth Matsumura and list the names of the organizations he's run.
Given the change in name it's actually kinda suspicious and anyone seeking some alleged cutting-edge cancer treatment (likely expensive) would probably benefit from knowing past history like suing Arnold and past organization name. WakandaQT (talk) 00:41, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Please guide me/us for how to recover the pages about Sandeep Sander and SanderMap
[edit]Hi Deb, I am Sandeep Sander, CEO of SanderMap. First of all I have to express my deep respect for Wikipedia. Great concept and I am very proud of being involved. It also means a lot to other people that i am listed - a kind of recognition of my contributions to a better world and many people. You have yesterday deleted both pages with reference to "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion". I am not a Wikipedia expert - I got listed and SanderMap got listed in relation to my contributions to "Innovation for Jobs" (I4J). I4J is a team of volunteers with high ambitions to "contribute to a better World". I am honoured to be invited and I am the only person from Denmark in the group. I4J is headed by Vint Cerf (co-inventor of the internet), and among the other members are Esther Wojcicki (Silicon Valleys Grandmother, who supported the start of Google and the mother of Susan W, CEO of Youtube), Astro Teller (Captain of Moonshots, Alphabet X/Google X), Steve Jurveston (Hotmail, SpaceX, Tesla) and others who have made impact. My humble contributions are around Employability and LifeLong Learning and strategy & management development. Among those who have listen to my messages are Prime Minister Modi, India (he invited me to a conference already in 2013) and Henrik Dam Kristensen, Chairman of the Parliament in Denmark.
I/we hope these examples are sufficient to enable us to guide me to what to change, in order to comply with Wikipedia rules and regulations? Should I (and/or others) make a recovery request and then change? Do you recommend I involve others? Who? I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your constructive contributions to me. Life is not easy at present. I do not know what time zone you are in (I am in Copenhagen), but feel free to respond to my email sandeep@sander.dk or here I look very much forward to hearing from you Best regards Sandeep SandeepSander 10:26, 14 April 2021 (UTC) ≈≈≈≈ SandeepSander 10:26, 14 April 2021 (UTC) The photo shows HE Ambassador Freddy Svane, Ambassador for Denmark to India, and me in New Delhi last week. Re: John Michael Fuerzas Jalaron (Writer) deleted page
[edit]This is me, John Michael Jalaron aka Deigthon Jeighps. I am not writing this letter to appeal for the speedy deletion of my wiki page since I fully understood the determining factors responsible for the said action. This is merely to explain myself.
I must admit the abrupt deletion of the said article/page caught me off-guard and initially made me feel bad, considering that article was not intended to promote, market or advertise myself as a writer although to wikipedia standards that was likely the case hence the deletion.
I only wanted to retrieve a copy of that article so I can use it for my own reference. The problem with your so-called speedy deletion is, it doesn't acknowledge efforts from the writer and completely omit the article out of wiki system with no means of retrieving it even if you own the article or wrote it. I couldn't even find a trace or history of it on my page where it used to be. YOU PROCEEDED TO DELETE THE ARTICLE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTIFICATION. AND THAT IS RATHER SAD AND OFFENSIVE.
I am requesting for a copy of that page and hoping to get a response as soon as possible.
- This is you, the author and subject of the article, which you created in draft and never submitted for review. None of your versions of the article will be restored, because you have a major conflict of interest. Your purpose in editing was solely to write about yourself and you have not attempted to create or edit any article about any other subject. You do not "own" the article; no one does. Calling other people names won't help. If you meet the Wikipedia notability criteria, you can request an article about yourself here: Wikipedia:Requested_articles#Biography Deb (talk) 07:54, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion: Alexis de Bernede and Darmo Art
[edit]Hi Deb, I have read all criteria on speedy deletion and specifically I have read G11(unambiguous advertising or promotion), which the two articles deleted were tagged for. I saw the speedy deletion request tags by a user and I went through the articles so I could work on it. The articles didn't violate G11 in any way. The articles were deleted by you before i could contest the tags. These pages is not a blatant promotion of the subjects. All claims are backed by references from independent sources. Any reference not independent is a link to an exhibition that has already been referenced. I didn't violate any copyright. And the contents are sufficient for a Wikipedia page. Please, help me look into this. I know you put in a lot of work as a Wikipedia Admin, I also try to do so as a Wikipedia editor. Thanks, Deb. Pete Is Black (talk) 19:06, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Alexis de Bernede: First, I wrote about how he is raised by a specialist in art. Well, an article by Beaux Art magazine about him and his company talked about how he was raised by an art specialist and a press agent(did not specify the gender). Link (https://www.beauxarts.com/grand-format/ces-galeristes-nouvelle-generation-qui-nont-pas-de-galeries/?fbclid=IwAR0WkyDquj8f8hDHYl9Bv5R9iD7GJC0g1-0zVIc-mzuHAg-fNa2c-enWubY). Beaux Art, like lots of publications and magazines is paywalled so you might not be able to read it. I can do something about that if you want me to. I wrote about his company and the 2nd article deleted, Darmo Art, being a fast-rising company. Well, it appears so. It started in 2017 and it has done exhibitions in legendary galleries according to publications from independent sources - something not usual in the world of art. However, this part could arguable seem offpoint and I'd be willing to change that. I wrote about two successful exhibitions with Salvatore Ferragamo. Well, I backed that up and from the article, it was said that Salvatore Ferragamo wanted to work with them again because of the first one being successful. Luxury Touch is an independent source, I looked that up. https://luxury-touch.com/darmo-art-x-salvatore-ferragamo-lart-de-pauline-dandigne/
These are areas that probably caused the Editor, who tagged my post for deletion, to do that. But these are not promotional. They are facts. Verified facts Pete Is Black (talk) 21:12, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
Darmo Art: As regards Darmo Art, I don't even understand why the page got tagged for Deletion based on G11. Perhaps, because I repeated a reference twice. I repeated only 1 reference twice. Out of 8 references, I repeated only one twice. I had ten references in total. Deb, The pages don't deserve outright deletion. Pete Is Black (talk) 21:19, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Draft:Ulf Büntgen
[edit]Hello Deb,
You have deleted the page Draft:Ulf Büntgen. I kindly ask you to actually read the page and then reconsider.
Please revisit the article to see that it is NOT a promotional page. There is NO ADVERTISING of any sort. The content of the article is in the same format as the articles featuring colleagues that Ulf Büntgen works closely with (i.e. Clive Oppenheimer, Christine Lane, Jan Esper, etc).
The only difference I can see is that I was honest in stating that I am Ulf Büntgen's wife and that this is my first article. I have nevertheless studied the Wikipedia guidelines closely over the past days before writing this article. "Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective" - and this is what I have done, even though we are related.
So please: have another look and reconsider. At the very least I would like to retrieve the deleted material for future reference.
Thank you! Chribue (talk) 15:01, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
May I please have the content of the deleted article to practice on in my Sandbox? It would be a shame to start from scratch. Thank you! --Chribue (talk) 17:14, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Again: thank you very much for your concise clarifications! I can now see that you delved into the subject and took the time to do some research on Ulf's work. Yes, we will work on the LALIA article. He was indeed the discoverer of this phenomenon, as you can see by the fact that his name is the first one in the list of names of the main publication; meaning he is the lead author. But I realize that this is not enough to clarify that he is the main person. I will take your advice for sure! I was just wondering if the article can be restored to my sandbox so I don't have to start from scratch? Thanks again for your help and input!--Chribue (talk) 17:56, 16 April 2021 (UTC) Chribue (talk) 18:48, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Deb, after the speedy deletion of the article "Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo" I am very grateful for your action of passing it to the draft format: to give me the opportunity to reform it. After having read it in a rigorous way, the article can be promotional. So I will try in the draft to be very demanding and remove all this information. My job is to try to make compatible the rigorous information of the facts complying with Wikipedia rules, that's why I advise several companies, and so it appears in my user page, but I will also include this information in the talk article. Hi. You moved this article to draftspace yesterday. The editor promptly recreated it in mainspace, rather than working on the draft. The new article does not have anywhere near the promotional tone of the prior one. As per WP:DRAFTIFY, if there is an objection to draftifying, then the article should be in mainspace and adjudicated there. However, should I tag the draft for deletion? There's also the unusual circumstance that this rather new editor has changed his username through a page move rather than going through Wikipedia:Changing username#Venues. Finally, there also is the issue of potential UPE, since the photo in the article was taken by editor. Thoughts?Onel5969 TT me 13:27, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

I hope you are doing well. Please let me know how I can improve the Wikipedia page on Xaare. Kindly recover the deleted page and please have it moved to drafts so that I can use a neutral tone and make changes to it that will make it eligible for encyclopedic content.

why was my article on Mobolaji Ayorinde Deleted
[edit]The said biography was carefully reviewed by top reviewers and I took the time and effort to follow all their suggestions and corrections. On no account was any advertising content published except you just decided to misinterpreted what you saw or you just have a negative opinion of people in that category. You didn't even state your evidence just deleted a biography I spent weeks researching on for what! you don't just go ahead deleting peoples effort and hard work. Many wiki reviewer sent me suggested edits on things they feel I should edit and many of them edited some parts for me and even helped me categorize it. You could have sent me a mail or message to help correct it not just suggest deletion for something you considered ccs you were in a bad mood! I want my article back cos I know it is legit! and not vandalism. If you had a problem with it you could have helped me edit it not create unnecessary stress for me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mysticmindz (talk • contribs) 09:19, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

EssentiallySports page deleted
[edit]Hi,
Can you please let me know the specific reason for deleting my submission of the "EssentiallySports" page? I created the EssentiallySports page as a reader and I regularly read news from this website across many sports on Google news for many years. I believe the community will find this information useful as they are a notable publisher. It is also a major sports news website and the page contained all the reference links that I could find.
- As explained previously, it has been deleted because it was written in the form of an advertisement. This is not allowed, even for notable companies. Deb (talk) 11:07, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
I appreciate the prompt clarification. I now understand the content was perceived as advertorial (as mentioned in sections CSD G11 and CSD A7). However, as a Wikipedia contributor for sports-related content, that wasn't my intention. I will reorganize the content such that it reads objective and factual. Please let me know if there are any specific suggestions you have on the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hpjastes1995 (talk • contribs) 11:18, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- I recommend you create the revised article in draft space and submit for review. Don't move it straight into article space. Deb (talk) 11:20, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your suggestion. I will do the needful.
Deleting AD Maddox
[edit]Greetings, A.D. Maddox requested the periods be removed from her name. Is that why it was deleted? I would like to contest the deletion. All I did was add more articles she's been published in and link to companies that use her artwork in their products. Is that a problem? I don't' have a clear idea of what was done incorrectly. Thanks in advance for clarifying. Yodielay (talk) 18:16, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Are you saying you know the subject and she asked you to amend the article about her? That is a conflict of interest. But it was deleted because it was promotionally worded, not because it had been moved. Deb (talk) 18:20, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
How do we get the page restored, that was there for five years? Can you simply revert to the older page? She needed her location and photos updated. If I were to change my status to a paid contributor could I still make edits? Yodielay (talk) 21:35, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]@Deb: Hallo. I created a new article IThemba LABS by translating from the Afrikaans language version. The proper title should have been iThemba LABS i.e. an initial non-capitalised letter. How can I fix this? Ear-phone (talk) 06:54, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
recover the draft about montik ivan
[edit]I took a closer look at the article writing guidelines. It happened out of inexperience. Can you recover the draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Montik,_Ivan) and let me rework the piece?
I can also now indicate the encyclopedic significance of the materials and maintain the neutral tone of the article. Coldmanviktor (talk) 12:22, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
Is it seriously free ?
[edit]I have added a business I was searching for it online so I found a list of similar business on Wikipedia and I thought I should add it, somehow Wikipedia listing was making me curies so I have tried, it was removed and saying the content was kind of advertisement, I did not use any marketing word but when I saw Wikipedia's notification, it says because of the external link.
Now I don't know how to present a screenshot showing business profiles with their website, please do not confuse people, and whatever is your policy ask for it, do not just put 10 pages of nonsense complicated words and when you see another profile of the big company with all social links and websites, it seems like racism on small or new companies, do not have you any external link in whole Wikipedia? if I person is creating a profile of an ice cream shop he will write 2 lines and then a website founded date and founders etc, So this is what I have done.
What bothers you? Wikipedia is not a blog it's a huge platform so simply upload a format for companies to fill and make their profile and make people's life easy or else do not just talk nonsense when you cant take a small step then what a user should do? MSC in Wikipedia? Google, Facebook, Instagram or any big platform gives a simple process of being verified or you enjoy people get into complicated Wikipedia do not know how to register and you keep deleting their content Let me tell you how to be sensible, making people read your 10 page of terms is harder than creating a form for business and give them options you want as per your policy, If you also forgot your policy then let me paste the link you guys paste it here to us, Its disgusting — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moosakk1985 (talk • contribs) 23:41, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
- Who are you?
- Why do you think I run Wikipedia?
- Why do you think Wikipedia is here for you to advertise yourself?

About Deletion of page CONSEQUENCE KARMA
[edit]Please let me know how can I make a page with no objections which consequently led to its deletion... I tried to make the page as un-biased as possible... The guidelines provided by Wikipedia are so complexly written that a simple person like me is unable to follow them I guess... I made this page by checking out some other pages of similar topics and wrote the things as much similar to them as possible. Still it was deleted.
Please give me an example, and I'll follow that to the point to make the article Wikipedia would allow putting on.

Draft Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Deleted
[edit]Hi Deb,
Thank you for moving the Phenix Center for Economic and Informatics Studies article back into draft space - I am a relatively inexperienced Wiki editor and did not realize that the tone of the article was promotional rather than encyclopedic. I have read the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view guidelines, which have provided me with some clarification as you suggested on my talk page but I still am confused. As I understand it, as I have no COI to declare, my next step would be to edit the article to remove any external links that are affiliated with the organization and promotional language, and then publish it for review.
However, with regards to external links, many of the articles that are published in English mention PCEIS' research in detail and the organization briefly (for a line or two), while the articles in Arabic are more in-depth. Should I use the Arabic references on the English wiki page? Or would it be preferable to create this article in ar.wikipedia.org rather than the English wiki?
I'm not sure if you would know the answer to these questions, but your help is appreciated. Thanks for the work you do for Wikipedia!

Speedy Deletion Tag of Emerging Markets Institute (EMI)
[edit]Hi Deb,
We appreciate your comments. Could you please provide suggestions on how to make it more objective, rather than outright deleting the page? That way we can add the improvements to the page. Moreover, we don't believe this page is promotional. There is no advertising in here. This page does not differ from that of similar institutes that have been approved (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornell_Institute_for_Public_Affairs) or even broader universities such as this one (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Curtis_Johnson_Graduate_School_of_Management). If you see a difference between our pages and these ones, let us know what we can do to improve it, rather than once again, outright deleting our page. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Editor1141528 (talk • contribs) 10:38, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
IAG Research Request for Feedback
[edit]Hi Deb. I saw that you speedily deleted the IAG Research page right after WikiAviator approved it. I have a COI as I’ve indicated on my page and in the Talk page for IAG Research, and I was very careful to write a neutral account of the company. I don’t think it was promotional at all (in fact, there is nothing to promote; this company was sold many years ago to Nielsen) and I went through every line with previous editors to ensure each line was neutral.
On my draft, an editor named Theroadislong only called out one line in the draft that sounded promotional--“"leading provider of advertising effectiveness rating"--which I updated. See my Talk page for those details. I have since cleaned up that line and the draft was completely neutral and non-promotional.
If you think it needs more work, please let me know and I’ll return it to a draft and keep working on it. I have sources and I’m trying to be as neutral as possible despite my COI and I’m happy to keep working on it. I don’t think this page was at all “unambiguously” promotional.
I’m very happy to get the feedback of other editors. I will put the draft back up on my Sandbox so everyone can review it.
Thank you,
Alan (Alan D. Gould (talk) 19:25, 4 May 2021 (UTC))
Modifying my User Page
[edit]Hello, I've just noticed that you modified my User Page (deleting a sentence linking to my public professional Twitter profile). Why did you do this? Cjslaby (talk) 00:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Wikipedia guidelines for user pages specifically allow for the inclusion of "limited autobiographical content," which is exactly what my user page consisted of. As well as a link to my Twitter account, which is also perfectly acceptable based on the guidelines. I am not "promoting" myself. I am describing who I am and the "fields [I] have knowledge in," as Wikipedia itself outlines. I can't believe someone would first modify and then delete someone else's entire user page simply for them giving a brief bio of who they are! Especially when that has direct relevance to my activities on Wikipedia. To modify and then delete (!) a user's page like this seems particularly inappropriate. Cjslaby (talk) 13:55, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Please don't try and instruct me in what user pages allow. "Limited autobiographical content" does not include self-promotion, which is what you were doing. No one here needs to know your "public professional Twitter profile". Deb (talk) 14:01, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Deb, as someone who worked with this user a couple times and believes they're working in good faith, I'm curious why their link to twitter was considered self promotion? It obviously happens all the time, so was it just the fact that they called it a professional account? That seems like a wording question that could have been fixed without G11'ing the page. Alyo (chat·edits) 14:12, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

- I’m not promoting or advertising myself by linking to my Twitter account. My Twitter account is my primary account on the internet and thus it serves as a sort of homepage. I do not have a personal website, otherwise I would link to that. My Twitter account is not commercial. Nor do I gain anything professionally or commercially by listing my bio and linking to my Twitter account on Wikipedia (and what's more, apparently I get headaches like this). Also, not only am I allowed to describe who I am (especially as it relates to being on Wikipedia), I think it makes sense to do so. I think it’s good and important for people on the internet to be transparent and honest about who they are and, for example, what qualifications or other background they might have for engaging in particular activities (like editing specific Wikipedia pages). I am allowed to do this based on the rules and guidelines of Wikipedia and so I shall. Cjslaby (talk) 14:31, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- No, you are not allowed to. If you want people to contact you privately, they can do so via the Wikipedia e-mail facility. There is nothing to stop you telling people who you are, but it was very clear from your wording that you were trying to promote yourself and this won't be allowed. Deb (talk) 14:36, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

- Yes, I am. It has nothing to do with people contacting me; in fact I can assure you that I did not link my Twitter there so that it would be a way for people to contact me. I listed it because it it my primary home on the internet and it gives more information and more of a sense of who I am. You say there is nothing to stop me telling people who I am, but that's not quite true, as you just deleted me entire user page, so in fact you are here trying to stop me from simply telling people who I am. I have no idea what you mean about the wording. I think I said something like "You can also find him on Twitter @CJSlaby." As I just said above, I gain nothing, either professionally or commercially, from including a link to my Twitter account on my Wikipedia user page. I am not "promoting" myself, I am simply being open, honest, and transparent about who I am. This is about linking to a Twitter account on a Wikipedia bio page. I can't believe the things that people get riled up on here about. This site apparently runs on consensus and its own rules and guidelines, which I can read as well as you. I am allowed to describe myself in my bio, as well as link to an innocuous Twitter account. I believe it was inappropriate of you to first modify and then delete my entire user page. Please desist in these rude, disruptive, and inappropriate activities. Cjslaby (talk) 14:48, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- "You say there is nothing to stop me telling people who I am, but that's not quite true, as you just deleted me entire user page." This is a misrepresentation. You initially objected to me making a minor change to your user page to remove the Twitter details ("my public professional Twitter profile"), leaving the rest intact. This strongly suggests that you want people to check out your Twitter account for reasons that can have nothing to do with the encyclopedia. I advise you to bear in mind that no one here cares whether you are a professional historian, the President of the United States or a primary school pupil; everyone has an equal right to edit and no one is exempted from following the guidelines. Deb (talk) 15:02, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

- "This strongly suggests that you 'want' people to check out your Twitter account for reasons that can have nothing to do with the encyclopedia." You're not in a position to make such a claim, and I'm here telling you that that was not my intent or purpose; and in fact that the opposite is true: that I linked to my Twitter account specifically because it was and is relevant to my activities here in the sense that it explains who I am, what I'm interested in, and why; and as I've now said multiple times, it's my home base on the internet and so I think it's perfectly appropriate and within Wikipedia's guidelines to link to it. I, too, agree that everyone does and should have a right to edit and everyone should be held to the guidelines. Those guidelines very clearly state that people are specifically allowed to note the "fields [they] have knowledge in." If you continued to have an issue with me, on my own user page, linking to my Twitter account you did not have to delete my entire user page. In fact, I'm still quite amazed that that's what you did. You should not have deleted my entire user page simply because you saw my linking to my Twitter account as some sort of self-promotion (for what, I still don't even understand). What shameful behavior this is. Do you actually want people to join and participate in editing Wikipedia or do you just want to push them away like this? Cjslaby (talk) 15:19, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
I really don't see how we can unambiguously read this amount of intention into what was 1-2 lines on a userpage, but again, going back to the original edit: what was wrong with Cjslaby linking to their Twitter profile? This happens all the time, and without further communication I would also revert an editor's removal of information I had placed on my talk (typo:user) page. I don't know how we can read his undoing of that edit as evidence of malicious intent? Twitter accounts are commonly posted on user pages so unless the issue is specifically in the wording of the text that linked to the twitter profile, I don't understand what the issue is. Alyo (chat·edits) 15:28, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Alyo - Did I at any time use the word "malicious"? New users are generally discouraged from including any external links that are potentially promotional, and that's what this was. You may or may not see it as I do, but maybe you're not spending half your day getting rid of spam. Deb (talk) 15:42, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- "New users are generally discouraged from including any external links that are potentially promotional" ... can you point to any policy or guidelines on this, Deb? "maybe you're not spending half your day getting rid of spam" ... or, maybe you're seeing spam where it does not exist and should take a break? --Tagishsimon (talk) 15:49, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)I wasn't intending to imply that you did, but you're evidently reading negative/anti-policy/spam intentions ("you want people to check out your Twitter account for reasons that can have nothing to do with the encyclopedia") in CJS's action--on what I would consider very ambiguous grounds. Read malicious intent as "promotional intent" then. No, I don't spend half my day getting rid of spam, but I don't see how that's relevant here if my point is that CJS was following the userpage policies. "Generally discouraged" is not the same as G11. Can I ask you to restore his userpage and we can discuss specific language you disagree with? Alyo (chat·edits) 15:59, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Certainly not. Have you looked at his Twitter feed? Deb (talk) 17:47, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- How on earth is that relevant? With all due respect, you are simply avoiding a very basic question: what policy did CJS violate that justified deleting their entire userpage without further communication? There was no obvious spamming in their edits, the language on the userpage was innocuous, the twitter page itself is not unambiguous promotion. If CJS creates a new userpage that contains the exact same information in the form of four userboxes--all of which (Twitter link, historian, PhD candidate, etc) already exist--are you going to delete that too? Alyo (chat·edits) 21:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
- Certainly not. Have you looked at his Twitter feed? Deb (talk) 17:47, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hey Deb,
I hope you're doing well. You recently move my article James Colistro to the Drafts. I have asked for help and didn't really get much, but someone told me it sounds promotional. I really have no idea what part is promotional, although I removed a few phrases accordingly. Unfortunately, there aren't many references available. But he is a notable person. He has worked in many significant roles. Please review my Draft again and share your opinion.

About COI on Draft:Consequence_Karma
[edit]Dear Madam/Sir, I have tried to put every bit and piece to be un-biased. Please do let me know if there is any problem with the article. I will remove that or change that accordingly. Also! Since you keep insisting on COI on this "Draft:Consequence_Karma", then please let me know what should I put as I have written that I DO KNOW OF THE WRITER-DIRECTOR BUT NOT PERSONALLY. Please help out. As this is my first article. I do need any help I can get. Also! I am planning to write about some more films which are on OTT platforms, as they do not get much exposure as they deserve, in the future but that will totally depend upon how my experience goes with this one. I hope for the best. Thanks ShaanFatima (talk) 13:34, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
- ShaanFatima What did you mean when you said that you were creating the article "to help a friend"? You haven't explained this yet, and we can't move on until you explain. Who is the friend and why did you need to create the article on their behalf? Deb (talk) 13:47, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
- Deb I don't even remember when I said it. Honestly! I am doing it as it comes along. I have no experience whatsoever in this. And whenever or wherever I said it, I don't even have an idea of that. It ["to help a friend"] must have been put by mistake wherever it has been put. If I knew where it was, I could have removed it to done something about it. There is a simple solution to the situation according to me and that is, you please read the article, its not even long, and see if it is legit. Or at least let me know what should be changed to make it legit. Isn't it the whole purpose of the review exercise. You review and put up what is legit. This film is a low budget film. I get it. But! It is there on the internet, on some OTT platforms, and all the information about it is true as far as the sources tell. Isn't this the purpose of Wikipedia. To give legit information about things. No matter how big or small in budget they are. At least I think that is. So please let me know what should be done to make whatever you think to put a legit article about this film.
Thanks in advance for your support. I am saying again. If this goes well, I am going to put some more articles about some other Bollywood indie films on Wikipedia just to give new independent filmmakers a legit platform like wikipedia to show that they are also part of something big, no matter the budget. Speedy Deletion of page
[edit]Hi Deb,
Thanks for your feedback, I have updated the content of the Acrolinx page to include more citations and a different writing style. Where can I resubmit my article?
Elizabeth of York
[edit]Hi, Deb! I saw that you changed the list of issue of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville from "Elizabeth, Queen of England" to "Elizabeth of York". Could you please explain why you chose to do so? Base on other pages, it seems to be convention that if your child was queen consort of England, the list of issue would say their name, Queen of England. For example, if you go to Ferdinand III of Castile, one of his issue is "Eleanor, Queen of England". I do see that it could be confused with a queen regnant, but all you need to do is click on the link and see that based on their info:royalty box that they were a queen consort. Elizabeth had the title of queen consort and I think she is therefore entitled to be titled as such. Unlimitedlead (talk) 12:12, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Year articles
[edit]Hello, I just received a warning from you to not add any further entries to Year articles unless accompanied by a citation from a reliable source. I was somewhat confused because all I did was add birth and death dates which have their own references and sources in the person's article and the majority of the other entries don't have any citation directly in the year articles too, specially from older years. And those weren't deleted by you. If it was someone that died recently, I could obviously understand, but your deletions were mostly from the 19th and 20th century, 21 total. Help me understand why my entries were different than the others already there in the same condition. Mariaveigaborges (talk) 10:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Deb, first I would like to thank you for you efforts in reaching me on article. My efforts had always been to improve wikipedia articles by following wiki policies. I don't have any connection with the subject. As the platform of wikipedia is designed to highlight persons with notability, hence this article met the same. Also, the character has built the reputation in "x" years of service so had to highlight the same which I also observed in similar articles edited by me earlier. However, if the draft is restored I will revisit the article and correct the misses, if any, as per wiki policies.Thank you and cheers.Gardenkur (talk) 10:49, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Deb, I realize that the page is deleted. I want to improve it and remove all the resume and promotion style language from it comparing it with wiki guidelines, however I am unable to find the page. Could you please retrieve the text of the deleted page and help give me so an attempt for revising it. I spent a lot of time understanding and preparing the article, so want to make one more efforts and see my efforts don't go wasted, hope you understand. [edit]Hi Deb, Appreciate your time and efforts on reaching me. If I can have the article draft, I can revisit and attempt to remove the general whereabouts of him which are not relevant, like where he lives, how long in service and focus more on the notable work he has done. Also will highlight his contribution overall than current one. Unfortunately I did not save the copy with me hence I need to see the article to fix it.Gardenkur (talk) 03:06, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Article Removed? "Mar Palafox"
[edit]Dear Deb.
I recently came to Wikipedia in order to create an "artist biography" page for artist Mar Palafox, but it appears that someone already made one and it got deleted for ambiguous advertising. Because of this, Wikipedia suggested me to talk to you about it. So I am here. What should I do?

ZHC (YouTuber)
[edit]Hello Deb. Since you deleted the draft page Draft:ZHC (YouTuber), I'll ask you first before I can make it as a draft page again or possibly make it as an article. Here, that's what I would make for a potential article on Wikipedia, because how many subscribers he has on the platform as an art YouTuber, and he has over 20 million subscribers. I just started that page in my sandbox subpage with a stub template first, which I only include some information I have (i.e. statistics) before I can let other users add more information when that page is created as an article or a draft. One last thing, can I make that a draft page first, which he is also a viral YouTuber in others' opinions (even if their own opinions were from outside of Wikipedia)? --Allen (talk / ctrb) 02:36, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- Allen2 I would point out that there is already a draft about this person, under the name Draft:Zachary Hsieh. Without the actual evidence for notability, all I can say for the moment is that the draft as it stands would never pass review. It's already quite likely to be deleted, because of the promotional language in sentences like "He gained enormous popularity..." If the draft you've created in your sandbox were created as an article as it stands, it would be speedily deleted as an A7 unless multiple independent references were included. Deleted article: Kevin B. Lee
[edit]Hi Deb, I saw that you deleted my article: Kevin B. Lee. I think I figured out what the problem was. 1) I linked the titles in Filmography with external links to Lee's published films as a way to highlight the topic of cross media publishing, however I can see why it seems promotional. 2) I moved the draft to the article space, because I misread the rules for publishing articles.
Please let me know how to fix this and whether I can restore the article making according changes. --Mostrandomusername (talk) 08:37, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Mostrandomusername

Deb, you have deleted the page i wrote about Shivantha Wijesinha stating (sic) "I have deleted your article because the only place you are allowed to write about yourself is on your own user page." I am NOT writing about myself. My name is Samson Wijesinha. Although Shivantha and I have the same surname, he is NOT a direct relation. He is a member of my extended family (a "nephew" in the Sri Lankan sense!) and I felt that he needed to have a page on Wikipedia because he has acted in so many movies and TV series that are on Wikipedia; on these pages, his name is listed without an internal reference. I have quoted credible sources in my article to substantiate what I have written about this young man, who has made a name for himself in the acting world (please check his IMDb page). - @Samson Wijesinha: I have reviewed the deleted text. Regardless of Deb's comments about autobiographies, the article was correctly deleted. It failed to demonstrate how the subject is significant or important. I endorse Deb's decision to delete the article. —C.Fred (talk) 23:04, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
Hi C.Fred, Thank you for writing to me to inform me that you have endorsed the decision made by Deb to delete my article. I have to accept your decision as administrator - a decision which you base on your opinion that 'the subject is neither significant nor important'. Perhaps (as an experienced administrator) you would have a word with Deb and explain to her that making the 'right' decision for the wrong reason (naively assuming that the author of an article was writing about him/herself simply because he/she had the same surname as the subject) is not appropriate. Deb would benefit from more training for her job. Kind regards, Samson Wijesinha — Preceding unsigned comment added by Samson Wijesinha (talk • contribs) 08:39, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
- Samson Wijesinha, Perhaps you (as an inexperienced editor) could have a word with an experienced administrator like me and try to understand that the message I sent you was meant to explain, in simple and kind terms, exactly where you had gone wrong. If you had checked the deletion log to which you were directed by the notification that your article had been deleted, you would have seen the official reasons for which it was deleted, viz. "No credible indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events): G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)" Remember that a conflict of interest is still a conflict of interest and must be declared, regardless of whether you are the topic of the article or merely a member of his "extended family". Also note that IMDb is neither a reliable source not an indication of notability. Deb (talk) 09:19, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
Deb, You clearly stated: "I have deleted your article because the only place you are allowed to write about yourself is on your own user page." Res ipsa loquitur . No further comment is needed. Kind regards, Samson Wijesinha

Deletion of a page
[edit]Hi Deb,
I would like to contest the deletion of the Ryan Beat page you sent me a message about.
Ryan is a professional racecar driver and by the nature of what he does, sponsor names are in the titles of events and series. He also moves between products which are part of his history in the sport. For example, tires. His page has listed a couple different tire companies, neither of which he races for so he's not looking to promote them. In fact the tire company he currently races for isn't even listed on the page.
I would like the opportunity to rectify the page and if that means removing all the sponsor mentions, I will have to do that.
Please let me know how to make this right as opposed to re-writing the entire article and pulling all the sources again.
Thank you in advance for your time and help.
JM Franklin
Thanks for moving it to draft, but here's a question, as per WP:DRAFTIFY, if a move to draftspace is objected to, I couldn't move it back into draftspace, correct? Onel5969 TT me 14:48, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Onel5969: My view is that, by moving direct from draft space to article space without a review - and probably in order to avoid a review - the article creator has breached the guidelines and all bets are off. If there's something in the guidelines that specifically mentions these circumstances, I couldn't find it. (But do let me know if I'm missing something.) In this case, it looks like a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the first draft was created in January. Deb (talk) 15:17, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- No, I don't think you've missed anything. I was just following up to make sure I hadn't. And while I agree that water's moved swiftly, I still think the article is purely promotional. Regardless, thanks as always. Onel5969 TT me 18:03, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- Onel5969: There's undoubtedly a promotional intent, but it's not clearly unsalvageable at the moment. What I meant was that recreating an article that had previously been in draft would be the start of a new iteration, so the creator couldn't object on the grounds that it had been moved to draft previously. Deb (talk) 18:47, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Conflict of interest editing
[edit]Dear Deb, I have just received your note on my talk page. I don't think you've read my note properly. I WAS harassed and bullied over this page which I have not set up. I took it officially to Wikipedia and it was resolved in the way I have described. I am not a Wiki editor and have only edited one page because I was obliged to. There is no need to insult me. I sm an ordinary preventing themselves being defamed online. I note that you have not explained your deletion, and I am wondering why. Do you think you could please, and we can move on? Yes, having gone through a very frightening episode of being harassed via my Wikipedia page I am very clear indeed that I will not stand for it. Thank you.
From User: UncommonCandour Hello Deb, I have a note saying I have a conflict of interest with the Polly Clark page. Can you explain this? Does this refer to the external link to Cove Park which you have removed? I do not know why you have removed this -- unless it is because external links do not belong in the main text. I am the person who is the subject of the page. The page was set up without my knowledge and initially contained inaccurate information about me, amounting to a personal attack, and the person who set it up also blocked me from editing my own page. I do not know them, nor why they they targeted me. My publisher made some attempts to balance the entry, but this was an exceptionally distressing time for me, amounting to bullying and harassment. This has been resolved now by Wikipedia, after I pointed out that I am a real, living person not seeking to use to Wikipedia to promote myself, and indeed never intending to be on it, and my page cannot be used to defame or attack me. Released from this block, I updated my page myself recently. Everything on the page is factual, and meant to be useful for someone wishing to know more about me and my work. Where I have done this technically wrong, I am glad of pointers, but I do need to make clear that suggesting I have a 'conflict of interest' implies both a warning and something bad about my motives or my character and this is unacceptable. Wealthy, established public figures have staff to maintain these pages. I am obliged to do it myself (not having set it up in the first place) and I will not accept insinuations about my motives for doing so. My entry cannot be used to attack, harass or defame me. I am just a novelist trying to get along! I would be grateful if you would explain the Cove Park deletion as I would like to edit properly, given that I am obliged to do it. Thank you.
- I have checked all block logs. I can find no record of you ever having been blocked, or of any block on you ever having been lifted. Deb (talk) 13:39, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Viewing Deleted Article
[edit]Greetings Deb! I go by the username of Scalavity and recently, an article that I had published was deleted due to the unambiguous advertising that it was carrying out. I have no questions on why this deletion occurred, but I would like to know where I can view that article. It took quite a long time to type out and I would really like to rework it. I haven't been able to see my original article on my account or in the drafts section. Where exactly can I view it? Thank you!

Emma's Diary speedy deletion
[edit]Hi Deb, I was wondering if you could give me more information on why the article about Emma's Diary was deleted?
I am a mum and have a group of mum friends and we love a few parenting resources that helped us through our pregnancy and motherhood.
Some of the apps and websites we use are listed on wikipedia (baby centre, mother and baby). But for some reason Emma's Diary is not here. Which is weird, as from what we know the website is quite notable, credible and works with NHS and RCM...
Do you have any particular recommendations I could apply to this article in order to get it published?
Do you offer pone consultations? Happy to chat through, if that's easier for you? Thanks, Gayane

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.

Protection of Zeeshan Khan
[edit]I noticed that you've fully protected Zeeshan Khan and then configured pending changes on the page. This might not have had the effect you intended as the page is effectively fully protected to non-administrators making the pending changes irrelevant. For example, I'm a reviewer and can't edit the page.@Chess: It's easy to request a change on the article Talk page. What was it you wanted to change? Deb (talk) 08:26, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Deb: I was asking you to reduce the protection to pending changes or at the very least WP:ECP (if autoconfirmed editors are vandalizing) given that full protection doesn't seem warranted in this case. Chess (talk) (please use

Hello,
I have read the wikipedia guidelines and do believe the content was not promotional. Since the latest review (17 months ago), a lot of changes have been made and new sources added. I believe the page meets criteria, the content is educational and verifiable.
Why was the page deleted before review? Is it possible to get access to the content?
Thanks
Slezakova.natalia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slezakova.natalia (talk • contribs) 14:42, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Promotional content can be deleted at any time. You have failed to observe the Wikipedia guidelines that oblige you to declare your conflict of interest. Deb (talk) 14:47, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

Content2
[edit]Hi Deb, as Muboshgu explained more in Requests_for_undeletion, I do understand the reason of removal. As I said to him, in comparison with other pages, similar pages could also be considered as promotional with not good enough sources. But I respect the guidelines.
Also, if possible, I would like to ask to get the content back. Not as a draft or not to be posted on Wikipedia page, but via email maybe? I believe the info there can be used by others, took a while to collect and I do not want to loose it. Thanks a lot
Slezakova.natalia (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- The sources you quote seem to be directly related to how to use the product, not what makes it notable. I'm not going to restore the content. Thanks --Factelf4 (talk) 14:34, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- Factelf4 I would try to avoid the list format that you have used in the "Career" and "Awards" sections. You can get lots of advice from Wikipedia:Manual of Style and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography and other pages to which they will lead you. Deb (talk) 14:42, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Restore Draft: Christian Speck
[edit]Hi Deb. Please consider restoring Draft:Christian Speck to my sandbox. I believe the page would need only minor changes to meet the G11 and G12 criteria and be acceptable. The page content is entirely verifiable and can be written in a less promotional/more neutral tone. If you have any questions that might help with your decision, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you. YosDav (talk) 17:01, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- YosDav, I'm fairly sure it wasn't me that deleted the draft. Deb (talk) 17:03, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Deb, Thank you for your reply and my apologies for this late response to it. You are right, you did not delete the draft. Athaenara did. She denied my request to restore it (see correspondence at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Athaenara#Draft:Christian_Speck_and_copyvio), but referred me to a page of "Wikipedia administrators willing to provide copies of deleted articles", which is where I found you, hoping that you would consider restoring the draft so I can continue working on it. The fixes are minor, in my opinion. Thank you.YosDav (talk) 17:15, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- YosDav, Sorry, I only restore drafts that aren't G11 or G12. Deb (talk) 14:47, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply. Can you direct me to individuals who would consider restoring the draft? To be honest, I feel somewhat aggrieved. I worked on the article in my sandbox for hours over many days, and had I known before I submitted it for review that it would be deleted from the sandbox by an editor and moved to the draft space, I would have saved it in another directory in my user account for safekeeping. What can I do? It really does seem unfair. Thank you.YosDav (talk) 15:35, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

A personal note / apology
[edit]Hey Deb. Sorry for acting adversarial at RFPPU. I regret that now. It's just that I've protected +7,000 pages and I think my longest full protection (this decade) was maybe a month (rarely do I exceed 2 weeks). The point, though, is that all these full protections were directed at content disputes among legit editors. As mentioned, I've never seen WP:ECP fail to work due to disruption from non- or quasi-legit accounts, because I find that blocks and/or EC revocations usually do the trick. Anyway, that's as far as that.
Again, I apologize for my, erm, lack of poise. I'll try to do better. Please know that I hold you in utmost esteem. Kind regards, El_C 15:39, 17 July 2021 (UTC) El_C Oh, that's kind of you, but no worries. I just got a bit frustrated at the way it was dragging on. I have spent a lot of time on this article and also on the Wikipedia live help forum getting help and feedback from experienced reviewers and all the changes they suggested I have implemented. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IRC_help_disclaimer In fact other reviewers have made changes and it was an experienced reviewer from the live help forum that submitted the article for review again - the article you have removed. If you feel I should change my user name then I will do so. At the very least, can you please reinstate the articles to draft so I can keep working on them. Thanks for your help. About now deleted article Sandesh Ghimire Re-create if only to WP:GP4? Punitive not preventive?
[edit]Hi Deb,
I was writing up a Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sandesh Ghimire submission when you deleted the article.
Given Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Engineer sandesh Ghimire and its corollaries, perhaps this page could be restored, if only to ensure that any later re-creations could be WP:G4-d?
While that may be useful in addressing that specific issue, to my mind, that may well be analogous to the non-punative block policy.
Your thoughts about this? Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:53, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) It looks like they would qualify for G5. Since an SPI is a given with any future recreations, imo even multiple such G5s would be cheaper than one AFD right now. Regards! Usedtobecool ☎️ 13:52, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Norman Sicily Project
[edit]Dear Deb,
Since you kindly offered advice on my draft a few days ago, I am writing to ask if you can assist with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:The_Norman_Sicily_Project again.
I have responded to every comment each of the now 4 reviewers have left. The one that has been offered most often has to do with notability. Since the first rejection, I added an additional (fully independent) source. There are now 4 sources listed. Three are fully independent and focus on the project (not just a passing mention) and published in American, Argentine and Italian publications. The fourth is a an article in an international digital humanities journal authored by myself and another member of the team. It has been ostentatiously peer reviewed by international scholars who have revealed their identities and demonstrates that the editors of the journal deemed it notable enough to disseminate it in a wide audience.
Most recently, I have noted on the Talk Page that I used Wikipedia's article on The Perseus Project (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perseus_Project), a fellow academic effort, as a guide. The language and content have been guided by that essay, although this one has a few more sources included.
This process has been something of a moving target, depending on the viewpoint of the reviewer. But none has responded directly to my responses to their feedback. If there is something lacking, I am all ears. But no one has told me why these four sources do not meet the guideline, "significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject . . . ."
I am wondering if there may be an issue with volunteers' inability to read in languages other than English.
Any advice you can offer will be welcome. I am happy to do whatever is necessary, but the moving target and lack of response to my replies is frustrating.
Very grateful for your time,
Dawnmariehayes, I've looked at the comments by the reviewers and it does seem to me that you've been given quite a lot of guidance and that you've tried to take note but are hampered by your lack of experience of Wikipedia and its guidelines. It's not a good idea to direct others to articles you consider to be similar to your own in the belief that it helps your case. The article on Perseus Project was created many years ago and probably would receive similar treatment to yours if it were submitted as a draft now, because the guidelines have been tightened since then. I will see what I can do to help. Deb (talk) 13:02, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you very much, Deb, for your response and as well as for your willingness to help. Again, happy to do whatever is needed. I'll stay tuned until I hear back from you. Gratefully again, Dawn Dawnmariehayes (talk) 14:23, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Update: Why not wait until RFC is over, before you 'complete' reversions. If option 'A' were chosen 'or' option 'C' rejected? Then all those reversions would have to be undone. GoodDay (talk) 15:54, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- But it was you who said I should go on reverting, and in any case, whatever the outcome, there will be no revert, just an edit. Deb (talk) 16:46, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, it's your choice and potentially a waste of time. GoodDay (talk) 16:56, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Not for me, as long as you don't remove the references I've spent time finding and adding. I make regular passes at these articles. Deb (talk) 16:59, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

rollback of good faith edits to Northern Crossing (Tararua Range) without edit summary
[edit]hi @Deb:, I see you rolled back my good-faith edits to Northern Crossing (Tararua Range). Can you please give an Edit summary to indicate why you think the roll-back was appropriate? Cheers! Somej (talk) 09:58, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- Somej - Sorry about that, can't think why I didn't. Your edit was unreferenced and doesn't comply with the basic guidelines on style and tone. See Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_manual,_guidebook,_textbook,_or_scientific_journal and Wikipedia:Writing_better_articles#Information_style_and_tone for further guidance. Offering readers your advice on how to climb a mountain is inappropriate at the best of times, but when it's not backed up by citations from reliable sources, it's just not acceptable. I recognise that it was intended to be helpful. Deb (talk) 10:07, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for that explanation Deb. What you reverted was a move of a section of text that was in the article when you first published it out of draft space. I do agree that a list of climbing instructions is a bit detailed for Wikipedia. Are you now suggesting that it just be deleted instead? Somej (talk) 10:13, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- Somej No, I think it's a notable topic, but the article needs some work - re-wording, etc. I'm not sure I should have approved the draft without that being done first. Deb (talk) 10:18, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

Clarification on April 1978
[edit]Just for clarification: I understand that you're deleting some unreferenced entries I included in April 1978 and putting "citation needed" tags on others. Are you deleting some entries entirely because they're not of sufficient international importance, in addition to being unreferenced? I want to have a better idea of what entries I should continue adding to the article. Thanks! Gildir (talk) 09:27, 22 August 2021 (UTC) Gildir - Unreferenced entries shouldn't be added and I've removed some that you recently added. I would only delete referenced entries if they were completely trivial and lacking context, misplaced, wrong, or unverifiable from the quoted reference.Deb (talk) 09:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Middle East Venture Partners (Deletion of draft)
[edit]Dear Deb,
Thank you for getting back to me. I was trying my best not to sound "promotional" or advertising. I included multiple links for each claim inserted in the draft to ensure not to use my own opinion or pov and be the most objective possible. Please let me know how I can edit the draft to make it publishable.
Best Regards, Michel Kallas

Hi again Deb, what do you mean remove external links? Could you tell me what else do I need to work on?
Also could you undelete the draft so that I can edit on it again? This is the only saved version I have.
Thank you for your response, Michel Kallas

[edit]Anaypro recently edited my talk page. She does seem to have similar interests as of SidraRanaAdv, whom you blocked earlier with an expiration set on 8 February 2022. Regards ☢️ Radioactive 🎃 (talk) 06:31, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
