Where did you get the material from

[edit]

Could you tell me where you got material for this article from? A user has this exact same article under construction in their own user space. Fly by Night (talk) 06:36, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Fly by Night (talk) 07:43, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Rather than the usual form letter, I just wanted to leave you a personal explanation of the copyright problem in this list. While factual lists are not copyrighted, lists based on personal opinion are. That includes "hottest" and "best" lists of this nature. (A more complete explanation is at the still-unfinished User:Moonriddengirl/Copyright in lists.) We have permission from the network to use some of their lists, but their permission was very specific as to which lists were included. It did not mention this one (understandably, since the permission was given in 2009), and without explicit permission or a general release we can't reproduce this list, I'm afraid.

Since the network was willing to license their content in the past, they may be willing to do so again. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission if you'd like to ask them to do so. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:40, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Undoing Brisbane Roar edits

[edit]

The info thing about Suncorp isn't needed. Yes, the club play there but there is no reason to have it on the page. It's about the Roar, not Suncorp Stadium. All I see fit is that there should be a link to Suncorp Stadium's page, nothing more as it distracts from the Brisbane Roar page itself. I apologise for not coming to you first but there is absolutely no reason to put more relevance to something that is low in significance to other things about the club.Protenpinner (talk) 07:05, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do however like the other stuff you edited. I just feel that the link to Suncorp Stadium is sufficient enough

Win  %

[edit]

With the club's win percentage, the club have it listed as a draw with the grand final win. Should it be noted in the coaches thing? just for clarification? Protenpinner (talk) 15:33, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If they have it as a draw, the it should be changed to a draw in the table. Same for one of Miron's results too - We lost a PSO to the Victory in the preseason comp of 06/07, so that should be changed to a draw too. The Roar site was f*cking up for me yesterday so I was unable to check. Would be appreciated if you could run your eye over the numbers to ensure accuracy too. Ck786 (talk) 20:57, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've made the changes from Win/Loss --> Draws, but would still be appreciated if you can check the other numbers... Cheers Ck786 (talk) 21:01, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will look over them in the next couple of weeks. Swamped with work load for a few other things.Protenpinner (talk) 12:28, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trialists

[edit]

With the edits you made to the trialists for the Roar's season (11/12), a lot of the trialists were named in the match guides at the pre season matches, but the Roar haven't put them up on their site so there is no way to proove it. The only reason they're up there is because of PaulyTV and me getting the match guides from the games. Protenpinner (talk) 12:31, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

: With the Roar's stats page, I'll be doing it within the next couple of days. As I let you know, I'm a bit busy with a few other things (staffing the Roar forum among other things) but it should be up by the end of the week (Friday) Protenpinner (talk) 12:36, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

colours

[edit]
I think it should be listed in the crest and colours section because the colours of the kit have changed, hence the "crest and COULOURs". There hasn't been a change in sponsorship for the team, just a new kit maker, which falls under the crest and colours. Protenpinner (talk) 08:48, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2011-12 NextGen Series

[edit]

I didn't mean to undo all your hard work. However, the reason I removed it is WP:WEIGHT.
An article should not give undue weight to any aspects of the subject but should strive to treat each aspect with a weight appropriate to its significance to the subject. For example, discussion of isolated events, criticisms, or news reports about a subject may be verifiable and neutral, but still be disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic. This is a concern especially in relation to recent events that may be in the news. Note that undue weight can be given in several ways, including, but not limited to, depth of detail, quantity of text, prominence of placement, and juxtaposition of statements.
I don't see why the final should have the line-ups when no other match does. This is the page for the entire tournament, not just the final. Adam4267 (talk) 09:22, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the final should have its own article. I'm about to go off now but if you look for sources then we can see whether it merits an article later. Adam4267 (talk) 10:26, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Chairman/Vice Chairman

[edit]

"We don't put assistant managers under the manager in the info-box, why put the vice chairman under the chairman?"

I see your point but with that logic, there isn't a need for "Vice Captain" in the players section, yet every footballing side page has it. Protenpinner (talk) 09:11, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any direct blocks on your account - can you please tell us the exact message you get when you try to edit? -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:30, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The account is not blocked, nor is it affected by an autoblock. As far as I know, there are just two other possibilities.
  1. You are editing from an IP address which has been blocked even for editing logged on accounts. In that case, we will need to know the IP address. The message you see when you try to edit will tell you what you need to do in order to make an unblock request that includes the information we need.
  2. There was a block which has now expired. Try editing again, and if it works this time then please remove the unblock request. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The message I'm getting is as follows:

You are currently unable to edit pages on Wikipedia. You can still read pages, but you cannot edit, move, or create them. Editing from 58.163.175.128/25 has been blocked (disabled) by JamesBWatson for the following reason(s):

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you believe you are not running an open proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer from your ISP who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. If this is the case, please request to be unblocked using the {{unblock}} template, or request administrator attention using {{admin!}} and indicate you are caught by an open proxy block. More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). In some cases, this can be remedied by logging into the secure server. For more information, see the Wikiproject on Open Proxies and Wikipedia:Open proxies. (Sandbox test edit) This block has been set to expire: 20:10, 17 November 2012.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Socceroos match numbers

[edit]

You have edited {{Australia national football team results2}} to include match numbers per OzFootball. OzFootball and the FFA disagree on the status of a number of matches. The previous numbers are from the FFA. Hack (talk) 03:53, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Do you have a source for what the FFA include? Ck786 (talk) 04:33, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There was a more recent list on the FFA website but this pdf has all of the games up to 2006. The list of matches starts from page 13. Hack (talk) 04:39, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, I'll check it out. The changes I made to that template too were simply based off the number of matches in each of the linked pages. ie. 1922-1959 lists 49 matches, not 51. Ck786 (talk) 04:44, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OzFootball only count games that are recognised by both competing associations. There are a few games on the FFA list that are only recognised by Australia as full internationals. Hack (talk) 04:57, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, in that respect OzFootball are probably more right/less wrong than the FFA on this one. It's hard to justify the validity of a match if both associations don't recognise it. Ck786 (talk) 21:37, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the FFA drew a line in the sand when they started issuing cap numbers. Hack (talk) 00:40, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I guess. I'd be interested to hear their rationale and the rationale of the opposing confeds who do not recognise these games. Cheers for the info anyway. So as far as Socceroos statistics are concerned, such as those on the Australia national association football team all-time record page - would this include matches that are considered as A-Internationals by both confeds or just by the FFA? I'm in the process of updating that page and currently most of it is for mutually recognised fixtures. Then there are some other fixtures, such as some olympic matches (prior to the format changing to U23) against full strength non-European opponents that are mutually recognised as A-Internationals, however matches against under-strength European teams are not mutually recognised; meaning that in the same international competition there are both A and B list matches. Confusing stuff. Ck786 (talk) 00:47, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with classification of games is that for a long time it didn't matter that much. With the introduction of rankings, it is now an issue. So we have now have people going back into the past to retrospectively classify these matches. Different people have different standards which explains the messiness of this situation. Eventually I was going to add the B international stuff to the relevant results articles under a separate section. Some of the B internationals had a greater profile than the A internationals. Hack (talk) 02:25, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I have noticed that (disparity with the profiles of games) and I had thought about doing just as you suggested and including a B-international section. As it is, I'm working on adding in the FFA recognised A-Matches into their respective season/results articles with the annotation that they are not mutually recognised as A-Matches. B-Matches will take a lot more work as there is a shedload of them. When you start it, let me know if you want a hand. Ck786 (talk) 03:22, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
On second thoughts, it might be better to create a standalone page along the same lines as the England results page. Hack (talk) 05:34, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
