Potential Copyright
[edit]There has been a potential copyright infringement placed on this page, however I'm not 100% sure why? Is it because the material is not referenced? If this is the case, that's fine except how can us non-admin editors add the required references, surely we should be given a chance to do this? The information that was deleted is in the public domain ... http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/alltime/11/countdown/cd_91-100.htm etc. so I would've thought it not be a copyright violation, just a lack of referencing? - Hi. :) It's not public domain, unfortunately, but tagged along with the rest of the site as "© 2010 ABC". (There's a difference between published in public and public domain; we need an explicit release for PD.) The problem is not with referencing, but with the fact that ABC has not given us permission for this specific list, although they have given us permission for some of their earlier lists. There's more information about it here. User:Tyler_j1992, working on a similar article in his sandbox, is intending to approach ABC and ask if they will permit this list and the 2010 list as well. See also the ANI discussion. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:41, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Are we allowed to remove the ugly CCI box and stick it here instead? Have some hidden text saying "DON'T ADD THE FULL LIST" to stop someone coming along and adding it? The-Pope (talk) 16:20, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I might be ugly, but it's not as ugly as a copyright law suite. The article needs to stay as it is until the copyright issue is dealt with. — Fly by Night (talk) 20:21, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- As I've said on a few of the talk pages, I've emailed both the ABC and the Triple J websites, and we're just waiting to hear back from them before we can continue with the articles. I've been maintaining my list offline until the copyright issue is sorted, so we've got no danger of having an incomplete list at any time. Sit tight until the copyright comes through. For what it's worth, the list probably isn't copyright, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telstra_v_Desktop_Marketing_Systems — Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.121.146.87 (talk) 07:43, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- Until we get either an agreement upon that precedent, which is unlikely, or copyright from the ABC or Triple J themselves, we must keep the copyrighted material from the page.Tyler j1992 (talk) 12:03, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
- True enough. I'm afraid that there's a difference between telephone directories and lists compiling opinion. Based on the Wikimedia Foundation's attorney's advice, survey lists must be treated on Wikipedia as non-free content. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:53, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
Luke Steele
[edit]Could Someone please add Luke Steele to the artists with 2 albums in the list, once with empire of the sun and once with the sleepy jackson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.246.57 (talk) 00:38, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
