Hello,
I've reverted your renaming of List of Florida hurricanes (2000–present). Except for glaring errors, page moves should generally be discussed on the talk page ahead of time. In this case, finalizing the list, so to speak, requires that we start a new one with just a handful of sentences later this year, and I feel this is not a workable solution. – Juliancolton | Talk 15:10, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Cyclone Herold. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. In this case, it is fine as you are the sole author of the content. However, in the future, when you cannot move a page due to an existing redirect, you must instead request speedy deletion (specifically under criterion G6) of the existing redirect. Jasper Deng (talk) 22:09, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Erroneous warnings
Hey there, I undid a few of your recent talkpage changes. Most notably, it looks like you gave 137.52.212.154 a warning for their edits in 2007. RfA
Hi! I hope you are well. I see you've attempted to do an RfA today. You are of course completely free to ignore this message, but it's a very good idea not to do this at this time. It takes years of tenure to have a good chance of passing a RfA, as well as a very good knowledge of our policies and guidelines.
RfAs can be brutal, if you think you still want to go ahead - be warned it won't be universally positive. I passed my RfA around a month ago with 98% support, but even with three years of experience and 30,000 edits, and no history of abuse or warnings, there were still those who did not think I could handle the toolset.
Just wanted a quick, friendly chat to keep to what you are doing, and learn Wikipedia a bit more, if you are still interested in the long term, drop me a message and I'll let you know what I think of your chances. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:02, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

Storm of the month and other tropical activity for March Cyclone Herold (not to be confused with April's storm of the month) was an intense tropical cyclone in the southwest Indian Ocean. It formed near northeastern Madagascar, where its flooding killed five people. Herold later passed between the islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues before becoming extratropical.

Storms around the world, by Jason Rees We have had some early success with this goal with information from Category 5 South Pacific severe tropical cyclones being used by a Facebook page after Cyclone Harold. However, we need help developing these articles since there are approximately 150 countries impacted by tropical cyclones and there are approximately 15 tropical cyclones off all intensities per basin per year. As hurricane season continued, I "experienced" every single storm from Dorian to Sebastien. After hurricane season in the Atlantic ended, I turned my eyes to the Southern Hemisphere. Storm of the month and other tropical activity for April Cyclone Harold was a Category 5 storm on both the Saffir-Simpson and the Australian scale. The storm formed near the Solomon Islands on April 1, where high waves drowned 27 people on the MV Taimareho ferry. Near peak intensity, Harold struck the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, causing widespread damage and disruptions amid the ongoing pandemic, as well as two deaths. Harold later passed south of the main island of Fiji, resulting in power outages and one fatality. The storm subsequently passed just south of Tonga, causing power outages and high tides.

Rollback granted
Hi Chicdat. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2020-05-15. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. User contributions for Chicdat deleted
Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the redirect you created, User contributions for Chicdat, goes against speedy deletion criterion R2, and as a result I had to delete it. Cross-namespace redirects are only allowed for a small set of namespace pairs, and Special: is not one of them. Even for allowed namespace pairs, like Main --> Category, such redirects are discouraged and only used in narrow cases where there is a clear, broad benefit to the redirect. signed, Rosguill talk 18:11, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello @Chicdat:
I was asked by @Hurricanehink: if I could help you undertake a list of Category 2 Atlantic hurricanes— and since I said I could take up on that offer; I was then told to come to your talk page regarding this.
and I did.
since I am interested in at least a small upkeep in this list, I have decided to apply, in this here talk page, to assist in the creation of this list.

Note
Hi Chicdat. I hope you're doing well. Thank you for your contributions – I can tell you've been putting in a lot of hard work over the last three months, and I'm really happy to see your enthusiasm. I remember how excited I was in the first few months of my time here; it really is a special experience.
Following your talk page message asking me to renew the probationary rollback grant, I've looked over your contributions. Unfortunately, I am going to remove the page mover group and I am not going to renew the rollback group.
- Since I granted rollback for a probationary period of two weeks, I have seen misuse of the rollback tool in a content dispute ([1]) in which you breached 3RR ([2][3][4][5]) in the space of less than one hour. If you're still interested in Huggle and the rollback tool, if you wait a month I would seriously consider a new request for rollback (and/or I wouldn't object if another admin considered a request for rollback).
- Page mover is a tool that requires a high level of continuing trust from the community. Because it allows you to suppress redirects, which is tantamount to deletion, access is tightly controlled and use of the suppressredirect tool must comply with the criteria at WP:PMRC. Acting outside of that is equivalent to if an administrator abused speedy deletion. I see in the logs a number of questionable suppressed redirects, including most blatantly this move, which isn't even close to a suppressable redirect. Because your actions, including these ones and the 3RR violation referenced above, are inconsistent with the level of trust necessary for the page mover group, I am removing it; if you are still interested in having access to the group, I would ask that you reapply after a minimum of six months.
I'm sorry to be taking these actions, and I want to assure you that this is not a negative reflection of your enthusiasm or good faith. Instead, it's simply a consequence of the fact that Wikipedia policies are dense and complicated, and it takes anyone a long time to really understand them. Three or even six months into my time on Wikipedia, I would be making the same mistakes. If you are upset with me, I understand completely, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 17:44, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Another thing
When you get a moment, I'd appreciate if you could take a moment to review WP:SOCK. As far as I can tell, your editing while logged out stopped a couple weeks ago, which is good – we don't want to give the impression of evading community scrutiny and responsibility for edits. Best, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 18:24, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Note about warning users
There's generally no need to escalate warnings (e.g. here) when the user hasn't created any further disruption. In this case the user hadn't edited in the 5 minutes before JavaHurricane placed {{uw-error3}} and hasn't edited since, so there's nothing that warranted an additional {{uw-error4}} or {{uw-vandalism4}}, in fact the user may have seen the earlier message and decided to stop. To assume good faith, changing storm intensities is not immediately considered vandalism unless it's obvious trolling - new users may not be aware of WPTC's convention of prioritising RSMC data. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 07:18, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Also, some advice as someone who was once a new user (albeit someone who's stayed out of trouble): be bold, but be careful. Enthusiasm is always welcome, but jumping the gun and breaching policies can lead to sanctions that can appear harsh or upsetting. Take time to familiarise yourself with our policies and feel free to ask around if you have questions or are undecided over a course of action. I'd recommend the Wikipedia:Teahouse as a friendly place where you can ask pretty much anything. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 07:18, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry. I didn't know that. Guess I'm going to have to reread Wikipedia's 27 million policies and guidelines. 🐔Chicdat ChickenDatabase 10:02, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Regarding this revert
Since you might not be aware of the policy here: Users are permitted to remove most warnings from their talk page. If they do remove a warning, then that is considered to be an acknowledgement that they have read and understood the message (so if they remove a level 3 warning, they may still be given a level 4 warning as escalation despite the level 3 not showing on their talk page). creffett (talk) 19:56, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Non-Breaking Spaces
Hi,
I just saw this edit here. Essentially the
is called a non-breaking space and is used so that if the phrase occurs at the end of a line (on the screen), it won't be split—the entire phrase will be moved to the new line. Ex: 30 May is used so that "30 May" won't be split across two lines. On Wikipedia, its usage is recommended for dates and for numbers+units (ex: 45 mph). Just wanted to let you know why this character is used. :) — Iunetalk 21:40, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Iune: I came here to trout Chicdat for this, but now I won't because my mind has now been blown with the revelation that is what the non-breaking space is for within articles. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 06:42, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
