Recent changes
- Over the next three weeks, dark mode will become available for all users, both logged-in and logged-out, starting with the mobile web version. This fulfils one of the top-requested community wishes, and improves low-contrast reading and usage in low-light settings. As part of these changes, dark mode will also work on User-pages and Portals. There is more information in the latest Web team update. [1]
- Logged-in users can now set global preferences for the text-size and dark-mode, thanks to a combined effort across Foundation teams. This allows Wikimedians using multiple wikis to set up a consistent reading experience easily, for example by switching between light and dark mode only once for all wikis. [2]
- If you use a very old web browser some features might not work on the Wikimedia wikis. This affects Internet Explorer 11 and versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari older than 2016. This change makes it possible to use new CSS features and to send less code to all readers. [3][4]
- Wikipedia Admins can customize local wiki configuration options easily using Community Configuration. Community Configuration was created to allow communities to customize how some features work, because each language wiki has unique needs. At the moment, admins can configure Growth features on their home wikis, in order to better recruit and retain new editors. More options will be provided in the coming months. [5]
- Editors interested in language issues that are related to Unicode standards, can now discuss those topics at a new conversation space in MediaWiki.org. The Wikimedia Foundation is now a member of the Unicode Consortium, and the coordination group can collaboratively review the issues discussed and, where appropriate, bring them to the attention of the Unicode Consortium.
- One new wiki has been created: a Wikipedia in Mandailing (
w:btm:
) [6]
Problems
- Editors can once again click on links within the visual editor's citation-preview, thanks to a bug fix by the Editing Team. [7]

Renaming article request
Hi. I noticed your contribution in the Requested moves page and wanted to ask if you could finalize the move of the article's title from KFF Tirana AS > Tirana AS. I provided evidence for the move in the discussion created but nobody seems to be taking any action. . Daniel Quinlan (talk) 01:43, 8 July 2024 (UTC)CFA/Archives/2024 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
This was not a 3RR violation. Those edits were vandalism and exempt per WP:3RRE. My attention was originally brought to that article because an edit the user made was flagged as a Copypatrol copyvio. I have never visited the page before today; I had no intention of starting a content dispute and have always tried to follow WP:1RR. They were vandalising the page by pasting in large Bible quotes to the dab page. This was apparently not the first time the page had been vandalized in this manner (see [8][9][10]). I assume the previous times were by the same user on different accounts/IPs. The rest of their edits were standard opinion-based vandalism: replacing ([11][12][13][14]) the generic disambiguation mention with their own analysis and commentary. Just look at their edit summaries: "Stop bullying me, and stop reverting what im writing which is the actual truth, stop being hard headed! if you dont stop im gonna report you!" I'll admit, the last few were not as contentious as the rest (only replacing/underlining one word), but given the rest of their edits these were obviously unconstructive. They were not willing to do anything about it. They just kept making change after change with edit sumamries saying they're "spreading the truth" etc. C F A 💬 02:17, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
As per below; I'll leave it to Daniel Quinlan to decide if they would like to remove their block before its expiration. 331dot (talk) 07:54, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Not a fan of their rather pointy edit summaries, but how much of an "in universe" description of "mark of the beast" to use is certainly a legitimate content dispute (and I take your side here as easily the stronger one) and not obvious vandalism. The exception isn't for all bad edits. And even if we accept that it is clearly vandalism, for the sake of argument, I can't come close to the opinion that the one-word change of "mark" and "symbol" is clearly vandalism. An admin may not rule on this as it's a very short block, but I'd suggest just waiting the day and being a bit more careful in similar situations in the future. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 02:41, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
The first two edits may be copyright violations, but the following 11 reverts you made do not meet any of the exemptions listed at WP:3RRNO, even if the changes were misguided and needed reversion. Also, as specified in the policy: If you are claiming an exemption, make sure there is a clearly visible edit summary or separate section of the talk page that explains the exemption. When in doubt, do not revert.
In the future, instead of edit warring or violating 3RR, please consider take a break from editing the article, try to engage in a discussion with the other editor on the talk page or their user talk page, and if the edit is that bad, someone else will come along to revert it. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 03:00, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Fair enough, Daniel Quinlan. Thank you for resolving this fairly on both sides. C F A 💬 03:30, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

"{{One source"
What does this mean?
As you have now discovered, I have listed my version and sources on the disk: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Eduard_Elbogen&diff=prev&oldid=1233581635
I have to sleep first before I add the most important (of 58) sources.
Which do you prefer? In GE, IT or SK language? --Virtualiter (talk) 21:17, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Virtualiter: That's fine. I tagged the article for {{one source}} before I saw it was a translation. It just means the article only has one reference. Since you appear to still be working on it, I suggest you add a {{under construction}} tag so other editors know it is still a work in progress. I assume you're referring to the language of the sources: the language does not matter as long as it accurately verifies the information. If you're using a {{cite}} template, you can use the
language=
parameter to specify the language and thetrans-title=
parameter to add the English version of the title. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 21:40, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of J.E.W.
Hello CFA,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Significa liberdade, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, J.E.W. for deletion, because it appears to be about something that you or someone you know personally invented, coined, or discovered, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important and/or recognized enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.
For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Significa liberdade}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Operation of Parwan (1984)
Hello there If you would have talked to me first I would have made changes there was no reason for a speedy deletion Afghan1235 (talk) 01:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Afghan1235: The entire article was copied from https://www.academia.edu/4335943/THE_OTHER_SIDE_OF_THE_MOUNTAIN_Mujahideen_Tactics_in_the_Soviet_Afghan_War. Removing the copyright violations without deleting the entire article would've just amounted to blanking the page, which is essentially the same thing. I suggest just recreating the article, this time without stealing content from somewhere else. C F A 💬 02:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

- @Afghan1235: 1976 Afghan coup d'état was copied without attribution from Mir Ahmad Shah Rizwani. I have left you the appropriate notice on your talk page. Battle of Nalos (1947) was evidently written entirely using AI with little to no review afterwards. It is not worded neutrally (ex: "their actions during this period are emblematic of the broader Kurdish struggle for autonomy and resistance against external domination") and I have not checked for factual accuracy. Battle of Bagh (1919) is very-closely paraphrased from https://books.google.ca/books?id=1XvKDwAAQBAJ and some senteces have just been completely copied (ex: "British casualties were eight killed and 31 wounded, while Afghan losses were about 100 killed and 300 wounded"). This whole ordeal seems very suspicious to me so unless you give me a convincing reason as to why you claim to have created the articles (when they were actually created by a blocked account), I will file a case at either WP:SPI or WP:ANI. You are also clearly not listening (or don't care) about copyright violations and have outright lied about them. C F A 💬 15:45, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

About the Superwoman page
All the Superwomen characters don't have nuclear or radiation abilities, aren't psychics, and can't teleport, but three of the characters do have solar abilities. The external links on it doesn't work anymore and one of them is not secured. 172.13.193.84 (talk) 15:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- I suppose you are able to remove (or replace) the external links because they are probably in violation of WP:ELNO (a wiki and a blog). I do not recommend removing categories without discussing on the talk page because they were evidently added there for a reason. Next time, please leave an edit summary so other editors know why you are removing content from the article. C F A 💬 15:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Change it into research interpretation, because its more neutral. There is no so-called evidence here, the sources have the author's personal interpretation of the Chinese material. The original text does not have any clear evidence of those conclusions, only sure thing is that her name was mulan by text. But a researcher suggested its possible, so it is more interpretation. 2001:14BB:AE:CEE0:B093:8E5E:C8BE:56D7 (talk) 11:25, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Lissa Schneckenburger draftification
Hi CFA — I noticed that you draftified Lissa Schneckenburger (created by Wings Commander) when you patrolled it with NPP, claiming that it needs more sources to establish notability
. The four sources that were present right after the first sentence — [1][2][3][4] — are to my reading clearly enough to meet the NARTIST/GNG standards, so I am reverting the move.
Please remember that NPP is about quality, not quantity, and it is always okay to slow down when needed. Unjustified draftifications damage the encyclopedia, both in terms of lost content and in terms of biting the article creators, so we want to minimize them as much as possible.
Best, Sdkb talk 03:40, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- I do not believe, based on the sources in the article and a BEFORE, that the subject meets GNG. They are mostly, local, routine WP:INTERVIEWS. The Rutland Herald source is the best available, and I suppose the Bluegrass United is short but gets the job done, but the other sources are interviews with little coverage outside of the transcript. Regardless, if you disagree, I won't do anything further. Thank you for letting me know. C F A 💬 03:52, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

- First of all, welcome to Wikipedia, Sir Grodus II! Unfortunately if a claim cannot be verified by a reliable source, it is not suitable for inclusion in a Wikipedia article. One of Wikiedia's core content policies is verifiability. YouTube is generally considered an unreliable source because it is user-generated content. Other wikis are also considered unreliable for the same reason. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 19:36, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing MOS:LISTGAP violations on the redirects for discussion page. It is an accessibility issue - and to help others understand it may be beneficial to consider referencing MOS:LISTGAP specifically in the edit summary - both helps others know what you're doing is an accessibility fix rather than just cosmetic, and also helps those who don't know about the issues swapping between indents, bullets, and number lists to see the reasoning behind it. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 21:26, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

- Wikimedia developers can now officially continue to use both Gerrit and GitLab, due to a June 24 decision by the Wikimedia Foundation to support software development on both platforms. Gerrit and GitLab are both code repositories used by developers to write, review, and deploy the software code that supports the MediaWiki software that the wiki projects are built on, as well as the tools used by editors to create and improve content. This decision will safeguard the productivity of our developers and prevent problems in code review from affecting our users. More details are available in the Migration status page.
- The Wikimedia Foundation seeks applicants for the Product and Technology Advisory Council (PTAC). This group will bring technical contributors and Wikimedia Foundation together to co-define a more resilient, future-proof technological platform. Council members will evaluate and consult on the movement's product and technical activities, so that we develop multi-generational projects. We are looking for a range of technical contributors across the globe, from a variety of Wikimedia projects. Please apply here by August 10.
- Editors with rollback user-rights who use the Wikipedia App for Android can use the new Edit Patrol features. These features include a new feed of Recent Changes, related links such as Undo and Rollback, and the ability to create and save a personal library of user talk messages to use while patrolling. If your wiki wants to make these features available to users who do not have rollback rights but have reached a certain edit threshold, you can contact the team. You can read more about this project on Diff blog.
- Editors who have access to The Wikipedia Library can once again use non-open access content in SpringerLinks, after the Foundation contacted them to restore access. You can read more about this and 21 other community-submitted tasks that were completed last week.
Changes later this week
- This week, dark mode will be available on a number of Wikipedias, both desktop and mobile, for logged-in and logged-out users. Interface admins and user script maintainers are encouraged to check gadgets and user scripts in the dark mode, to find any hard-coded colors and fix them. There are some recommendations for dark mode compatibility to help.
Future changes
- Next week, functionaries, volunteers maintaining tools, and software development teams are invited to test the temporary accounts feature on testwiki. Temporary accounts is a feature that will help improve privacy on the wikis. No further temporary account deployments are scheduled yet. Please share your opinions and questions on the project talk page. [15]
- Editors who upload files cross-wiki, or teach other people how to do so, may wish to join a Wikimedia Commons discussion. The Commons community is discussing limiting who can upload files through the cross-wiki upload/Upload dialog feature to users auto-confirmed on Wikimedia Commons. This is due to the large amount of copyright violations uploaded this way. There is a short summary at Commons:Cross-wiki upload and discussion at Commons:Village Pump.

Speedey deletion of Thomas Matthew Crooks and recreating it under your own name right after
@CFA I am baffled why you nominated it originally (when I created it as a redirect) for speedy deletion, deleted it even after sources were added, and afterward, instead of restoring the page I created; you created a brand new one under your name. I find it to be dishonest editing. To rectify, restore mine, and merge the current one into it. Bohbye (talk) 00:00, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Bohbye: You created the article when it was an unsubstantiated rumour published in the New York Post. Tabloid journalism aside, The New York Post is considered unreliable on Wikipedia because of their history of fabrication. That is a massive violation of our biographies of living persons policy. Please take a look at all the other redacted BLP violations of people posting rumoured names on the talk page of Attempted assassination of Donald Trump. I suggest you read WP:BLP. Please stop hounding me. I have nothing to do with this. C F A 💬 00:25, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Phil Robertson (disambiguation)
Hello CFA. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Phil Robertson (disambiguation), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: G14 does not apply to dab pages with two or more targets. Across the River & Into the Trees Movie
You have undone some information on our movie which cost us a lot of money to make. The film is a 2024 film that is when it gets its release in the industry film is calculated on its release it was still being finished until quite recently . Please change it back to 2024 movie as it doesn't get released at all the end of August of this year. I have corrected a mistake it did not premiere at the Sun Valley Film Festival it was a festival preview which is used for marketing purposes. It doesn't get its release until August the 30th. Here is a press release that we've just put out this week explaining that. Much appreciate if you put it back as to the correct information. https://www.flickeringmyth.com/trailer-for-hemingway-adaptation-across-the-river-and-into-the-trees-starring-liev-schreiber/ 151.71.102.61 (talk) 22:46, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

- No they are not promotional they are factual the information that you keep changing it to is incorrect. 151.71.102.61 (talk) 22:52, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not being paid by anybody. Why would you assume? We simply wanted to put up information about our movie. 151.71.102.61 (talk) 22:53, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Because you said this is "your movie". If you work for them and are being compensated, it is a form of paid editing. Either way, you are connected to the subject and it is still a conflict of interest that has to be disclosed appropriately. Editing the article without disclosing your conflict of interest is not allowed. Once you disclose your COI, you can make an edit request on the talk page. The edit you added, "hitting cinemas in August 2024" is not written in the neutral point of view and was added solely to promote the movie. If you need any help, consider leaving a message at the teahouse. C F A 💬 23:04, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

HELLO, HOW CAN I CREATE A WHOLE BIOGRAPHY ABOUT SOMEONE --TOBI$WURLD (talk) 22:34, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi TOBI$WURLD, and welcome to Wikipedia! To create a biography about someone, you can use the Article Wizard. It will guide you through the process of creating an article that can be submitted for review. Biographies on Wikipedia must meet the notability guidelines for people. Since I don't know who you are writing about, I can't give you more specific guidance. All information, especially if the biography is of a living person, must be cited with a reliable source. Let me know if you have any other questions or need any help. The Teahouse is also open for questions at any time. Happy editing! C F A 💬 23:29, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

I made an edit to the Google Wallet page regarding the compatibility of iPhone 7 or later devices with Apple Wallet. I stated that this compatibility is only for Japanese Apple devices. My edit was reverted.
Could you please provide an explanation for this? If there’s additional information or guidelines I should follow, please let me know on my talk page.
Thank you! Raayaan9911 (talk) 20:53, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
Wagner, also a librettist
Dear CFA,
As Richard Wagner wrote his own librettos, that undoubtedly makes him — among others, of course — a librettist. Leaving out this detail is disrespectful to the great composer.

Feature News
- Stewards can now globally block accounts. Before the change only IP addresses and IP ranges could be blocked globally. Global account blocks are useful when the blocked user should not be logged out. Global locks (a similar tool logging the user out of their account) are unaffected by this change. The new global account block feature is related to the Temporary Accounts project, which is a new type of user account that replaces IP addresses of unregistered editors that are no longer made public.
- Later this week, Wikimedia site users will notice that the Interface of FlaggedRevs (also known as "Pending Changes") is improved and consistent with the rest of the MediaWiki interface and Wikimedia's design system. The FlaggedRevs interface experience on mobile and Minerva skin was inconsistent before it was fixed and ported to Codex by the WMF Growth team and some volunteers. [16]
- Wikimedia site users can now submit account vanishing requests via GlobalVanishRequest. This feature is used when a contributor wishes to stop editing forever. It helps you hide your past association and edit to protect your privacy. Once processed, the account will be locked and renamed. [17]
- Have you tried monitoring and addressing vandalism in Wikipedia using your phone? A Diff blog post on Patrolling features in the Mobile App highlights some of the new capabilities of the feature, including swiping through a feed of recent changes and a personal library of user talk messages for use when patrolling from your phone.
- Wikimedia contributors and GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) organisations can now learn and measure the impact Wikimedia Commons is having towards creating quality encyclopedic content using the Commons Impact Metrics analytics dashboard. The dashboard offers organizations analytics on things like monthly edits in a category, the most viewed files, and which Wikimedia articles are using Commons images. As a result of these new data dumps, GLAM organisation can more reliably measure their return on investment for programs bringing content into the digital Commons. [18]
Project Updates
- Come share your ideas for improving the wikis on the newly reopened Community Wishlist. The Community Wishlist is Wikimedia’s forum for volunteers to share ideas (called wishes) to improve how the wikis work. The new version of the wishlist is always open, works with both wikitext and Visual Editor, and allows wishes in any language.

- Have you ever wondered how Wikimedia software works across over 300 languages? This is 253 languages more than the Google Chrome interface, and it's no accident. The Language and Product Localization Team at the Wikimedia Foundation supports your work by adapting all the tools and interfaces in the MediaWiki software so that contributors in our movement who translate pages and strings can translate them and have the sites in all languages. Read more about the team and their upcoming work on Diff.
- How can Wikimedia build innovative and experimental products while maintaining such heavily used websites? A recent blog post by WMF staff Johan Jönsson highlights the work of the WMF Future Audience initiative, where the goal is not to build polished products but test out new ideas, such as a ChatGPT plugin and Add a Fact, to help take Wikimedia into the future.

Draft:Roy Freirich
Hi! Thank you for reviewing my page. I've been working on it for a few months now, and have been on the chats speaking with editors and applying their suggestions to my page. In terms of the significant coverage, I was told that a grammy win was enough to qualify. I am also confused about my sources. I removed every source that didn't meet the criteria. The author's online biography was said to be permissible in order to disambiguate his name (Roy Freeland/Freirich). All of the other sources are major publications/reputable websites. I would really appreciate any advice on how to proceed. Thank you! Gabriela Jatene (talk) 16:18, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Gabriela Jatene: Hi, yes, a Grammy nomination is enough to meet the notability guidelines for musicians, specifically criteria #8. Notability is not really an issue here. Your sources are why I declined your draft. Because this is a biography of a living person, it is especially important that all claims are cited and can be verified to reliable sources. Bandcamp and Medium are both unreliable sources because they are self-published, user-generated content. A lot of your claims relating to his books are cited directly to the publishers' websites, which are primary sources. That is not necessarily an issue in itself but it would be better if you could find some secondary coverage (i.e. reviews in reliable sources), especially for claims going beyond "he wrote this book". I don't see why it wouldn't be accepted if you make sure to improve the sourcing. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 17:49, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

Your review
Hi CFA, I'm Neuromancer2022. I'm writing 'cause you've reviewed the page "Draft:Cignaroli Academy and Brenzoni School of Painting and Sculpture" and unfortunately it seems that it's lacking sources. It's my first english page so would you please help me a bit and clarify what I should do now? Sources that I have our all ancient books hundred years old... I wrote the references in Bibliography and notes. Thank you so much Neuromancer2022 (talk) 12:37, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Neuromancer2022: Hi, yes, books are fine. The quality of your references is not the issue. A lot of the article completely lacks citations, though. For example, the "Activity in the 20th century" section, which is 8 paragraphs long, doesn't have a single citation. It is not clear to reviewers where that information came from if you do not attach citations to the claims. Feel free to resubmit once you have resolved this. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 15:25, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Question from Trudluc (25 July 2024)
Thanks for reviewing the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dav1d. I was wondering if you can help identify which references are good and which ones are problematic, so that I can improve the draft. Previous reviewer indicated that Youtube and medium reference were unreliable so I removed those. Please let me know what I can improve in order to make this draft acceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trudluc (talk • contribs) 13:32, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Trudluc: Hi, a lot of your article is cited directly to unreliable sources, like blogs. For example, this is a blog, and so is this, this, this, this, this, etc. GitLab and Vimeo are also unreliable. Please also review the general notability guidelines to make sure the topic is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Generally, a good number to look for is 3 independent, reliable, sources that are entirely about the subject. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! about the page declined
Dear CFA
A page I wrote was declined and I would like to explain. In my opinion, prof. lee is a [WP:ACADEMIC]] 's criteria from number 5 to 8. This is because he has been a professor at one of Korea's top universities for more than 30 years, editor-in-chief of a prestigious international journal, and president of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea. Hyoshin cho (talk) 05:06, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Hyoshin cho: Hi, your best shot at notability is probably WP:NACADEMIC criteria #8 as the editor of a journal in their subject area. None of the other criteria apply based on what is written in the article. You could try resubmitting, but please address the tone issues which is partially why your draft has already been declined several times. The article reads like a promotional resumé at the moment. Also, how do you know of Lee Kunwoo? You uploaded a picture of him on Commons under "your own work" which means you have met him to take the picture. Your draft will not be accepted until you appropriately disclose your conflict of interest or paid editing. Please respond to me stating how you know him. Thank you. C F A 💬 14:25, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind response. Actually, I did ask live help for help, and I did edit it, but I'll try to fix the parts that feel like a promotional resume. I'll try to change the tone so that it's based on objective facts. Mr. Lee is the president of the university where I work. As for the photo, I uploaded the photo from our company's homepage, and of course, it was taken by a professional photographer from our public relations team. He is already an authorized person on the Korean Wikipedia homepage, but the American version seems to be a bit difficult. If there is anything wrong or misleading, I think it should be corrected. Thank you for your reply, even though you are busy. Hyoshin cho (talk) 23:51, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Hyoshin cho: Thank you for letting me know. First, you should make sure to appropriately disclose your conflict of interest, and in this case it may actually be a financial conflict of interest with different instructions. As to uploading the photo, if you did not take it, you do not own the copyright to it. And I can see on the university's website that it says "COPYRIGHT 2024 DGIST. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.", which means using it on Wikipedia is violating copyright. You will have to find a suitably-licensed alternative or request that the photographer donate the image to Wikipedia. Draft: Vahika rejected
Hello, you rejected my Vahika draft and I wanted to ask why as you stated no reason. The lead states with good sources that the current Bahlika wiki, which you said the draft be merged into, was totally different to the Vahika region draft I wrote about with totally different histories and being in totally different areas.(one in Punjab the other in Northern Afghanistan) hence why it shouldn’t have been rejected.
Thanks. Maniacdude (talk) 10:13, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

Feedback on Recent AfD
Hey CFA, I was hoping to get some feedback based on your comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Café Hagen. Do you mind if I ask some questions to help me better understand how WP:AUD, WP:SIGCOV and WP:INDEPENDENT are applied? Thankyou. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 03:36, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Rollinginhisgrave: Well, for starters, all the sources I listed are independent. There is no reason to believe any of them have any connection with the subject or have received any payment for publishing their articles. They all, save maybe The Stranger, meet WP:SIGCOV because they are all wholly about the subject. Some go especially in-depth; for example, The Seattle Times article is more than 900 words. It also meets WP:AUD because The Seattle Times is the largest newspaper in Washington, and thus qualifies as a regional outlet (
e.g., the biggest daily newspaper in any US state
). Happy editing, C F A 💬 04:02, 29 July 2024 (UTC)- Do you think my comment concerning dailycoffeenews possibly failing WP:INDEPENDENT has any merit? Beyond what I've already said, I've just noticed the piece is filed under "marketing".
- Is there any way for articles about restaurants in major cities to fail WP:AUD, since all the papers covering it will be regional outlets in some capacity?
- Similarly, wouldn't the consideration of audience for Seattle Times be who it is stated the article is written for ("covers the food scene in the neighborhoods around Seattle") rather than the whole of Washington?
- Greatly appreciate the clarification. This is my first time putting something up for AfD and it went terribly. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 04:13, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Rollinginhisgrave: Yeah, you probably are right about Daily Coffee News. It looks like they do some type of advertising so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a promotional piece. We can count that as non-independent. WP:AUD is more of a "safety net" to catch otherwise-non-notable businesses that have only been covered in a few run-of-the-mill stories in small, local newspapers, like most local businesses have. This is a different case. These stories are not run-of-the-mill. They go in-depth about the café. The Seattle Times isn't a "small" newspaper by any means, either — it's the largest in the state. If it hadn't been covered in The Seattle Times, there might've been a better argument for it failing WP:AUD, since the other newspapers were mostly small, local ones. At the end of the day, in cases like this, voters will generally err on the site of keeping. People generally don't like deleting articles because of "technicalities" when there is little reason to.
- I used to avoid AfD like the plague up until a few months ago because of how confusing it was. Once I started participating, my first few didn't go so well either. I suggest going to today's AfD log and voting in a few that have had no votes yet, so you have to do most of the research/analysis yourself. That's how I learned. C F A 💬 14:56, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- I think it sounds like what I have been considering SIGCOV is excessive, which I picked up from this convo. It's kind of hard for me to comprehend there's like 400 Wiki articles worth of notability to be written from just this one Seattle Times author's output from the last few years; I can't tell if that's liberating or demoralizing.
- Thanks for the tip on voting on recent discussions. Bit worried I'd be misapplying policies given today's mess. Might just stick to article creation for a while and hope I absorb through osmosis. But I'm really grateful for your help here. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 15:26, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
Tech News: 2024-31
Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Feature news
- Editors using the Visual Editor in languages that use non-Latin characters for numbers, such as Hindi, Manipuri and Eastern Arabic, may notice some changes in the formatting of reference numbers. This is a side effect of preparing a new sub-referencing feature, and will also allow fixing some general numbering issues in Visual Editor. If you notice any related problems on your wiki, please share details at the project talkpage.
Bugs status
- Some logged-in editors were briefly unable to edit or load pages last week. These errors were mainly due to the addition of new linter rules which led to caching problems. Fixes have been applied and investigations are continuing.
- Editors can use the IP Information tool to get information about IP addresses. This tool is available as a Beta Feature in your preferences. The tool was not available for a few days last week, but is now working again. Thank you to Shizhao for filing the bug report. You can read about that, and 28 other community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week.
Project updates
- There are new features and improvements to Phabricator from the Release Engineering and Collaboration Services teams, and some volunteers, including: the search systems, the new task creation system, the login systems, the translation setup which has resulted in support for more languages (thanks to Pppery), and fixes for many edge-case errors. You can read details about these and other improvements in this summary.
- There is an update on the Charts project. The team has decided which visualization library to use, which chart types to start focusing on, and where to store chart definitions.
- One new wiki has been created: a Wikivoyage in Czech (

Why do you revert my edits?
Hello CFA, why do you keep reverting my constructive edits. I am not block evading. MalachiPro (talk) 02:03, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
NJ Food Council page
Hi there. Just wanted to let you know that I resubmitted the page about the NJ Food Council--I added a paid disclosure, dramatically cut the length of the article, and did my best to remove all material that could be construed as self-promotional. Thanks! JMGroove (talk) 18:16, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- @JMGroove: Thank you. You'd be surprised with how many editors ignore the paid editing message and keep resubmitting without acknowledgement. I won't review it again (per policy), but another reviewer should. Happy editing, C F A 💬 18:48, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks so much! JMGroove (talk) 19:39, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
Question from Royiswariii (12:18, 31 July 2024)
Hello, I created a article from Maloi a girl group from BINI and it was separately article from independent activites. Would you mind to take a look at my article for that?
Thank you very much. --Royiswariii (talk) 12:18, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Royiswariii: The first thing I noticed was that Maloi (singer) is cited to a few unreliable sources. YouTube and Facebook are user-generated content and they should not be used as citations, especially in a biography of a living person. Consider finding some reliable, secondary coverage instead.
- As to whether the subject is notable on their own: I'm not sure. Musicians that are part of a group do not inherit notability from their group. They have to meet the notability guidelines for musicians individually. A lot of sources about her fall into two categories: Sources primarily focusing on the group and tabloid journalism. Sources that primarily focus on the group do not offer significant coverage of Maloi herself, and thus don't count towards notability. A lot of articles that are specifically about her (e.g. this preview.ph article) seem to be primarily tabloids that likely aren't reliable. I would recommend looking for more in-depth, reliable sources to help show individual notability. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing, C F A 💬 15:26, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I’ve made the changes on the EDHEC Business School article and they were reverted. Could you please have another look at it? It wasn’t vandalism, I cleaned up the unsourced content and the bits where it sounded like an advertisement, and I added few sources. Many thanks! 80.214.102.181 (talk) 19:04, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- I see. Both versions had promotional material, so it looked like you were deliberately adding it. I've restored your version and cleaned up most of the remaining promotion. Happy editing, C F A 💬 19:10, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
