We noticed though that when you edited Newfund, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Start-up (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). [edit]

On 7 March 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Magdeburg Ivories, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 16 plaques called the Magdeburg Ivories (one pictured) were probably made around 968 to decorate an unknown cathedral fixture destroyed in the next century? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Magdeburg Ivories. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Magdeburg Ivories), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Iconography of Charlemagne

[edit]

Hi Boubloub, Iconography of Charlemagne isn't a disambiguation page, as it's currently written. For a start, there are no other articles whose names would be confused with 'Iconography of Charlemagne'. If you want this to be a DAB page, I would suggest that you go back to Statue of Charlemagne and change the formatting. More simply, you could remove {{disambiguation}}, and make it a regular article. Leschnei (talk) 18:08, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Turkey" vs. "Türkiye"

[edit]

in spite of the Erdogan government's proclamation, the English-language WP:COMMONNAME of this country remains "Turkey", and it is Wikipedia policy to use that name. Please don't make any similar changes to other articles. Please see the WP:COMMONNAME policy page for more information. — The Anome (talk) 23:20, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Moving multiple articles

[edit]

Hey, thanks for all your helpful edits to Morocco-related articles! Just a note, though, with regards to moving the multiple Dar al-Makhzen articles: in the future, moving multiple articles in the same way like this should probably go through a WP:RM first, in part because if someone were to disagree with that decision now it would be complicated to revert the whole thing, whereas posting a Requested move is pretty easy and usually gets the same result in a more certain way. I've learned the hard way not to underestimate disagreements arising from page moves. That said, I doubt there will be an issue here. Cheers, R Prazeres (talk) 17:26, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all your work on the Ottoman Bank article

[edit]

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say how surprised I was by the level of detail and anaylsis in the Ottoman Bank article. I happened to link to it in passing and thought I should check how the bank was described. I was just amazed at how carefully you described the rich history of the bank's activities throughout its 150-year existence. I realize that this was helped by André Autheman's extensive history of the bank, but synthesizing into a single Wikipedia article is no small task. Congrats! An article you recently created, Observatoire Français des Conjonctures Économiques, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Rothschilds needs to direct to the family

[edit]

The Rothschilds is used in many articles, including the Renée Vivien. By changing it to the disambiguation page for the bank, you did a lot of unintentional harm. Onel5969 ran a script to substitute Rothschild & Co, the successor bank established in 2011. As Viven died in 1909, you can see how much of a mess this has become.

I reverted your redirection so that it points back to the correct one. Please do not do this again. If you still discern a problem between "The Rothchilds" & "Rothschilds". then the proper course would be to change it to a disambiguation page. Peaceray (talk) 19:37, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Achille Fould

[edit]

Greetings! Thank you for your extraordinary contributions in expanding Achille Fould. A piece of information that I have earlier added to it was removed during your editing. It is about his role in creating the financial institution credit mobilizer and the subsequent expansion of key infrastructure in France. I have cited it from a reliable source. Your edits helped me also to know more about Achille. Again thank you for the wonderful work. With regards, Thirukannan (talk) 10:58, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks! The role of Fould in the creation of Credit Mobilier appears to have been more complex than indicated in your source: see https://hal.science/hal-03437491/document (in French) for more detail, e.g. pages 46-47. I plan to come back to this issue and reinsert content about Fould, the Pereire brothers, and the Credit Mobilier in a forthcoming further edition of the article on Achille Fould. Thank you for creating the article Fountain of Faith, can you do it again?

[edit]

I recently added a Swedish version of Fountain of Faith that you created based on Swedish sources and reused your images. The U.S. parts of Milles' is not well covered on Swedish Wikipedia, but at least you covered it here!

I am also missing a dedicated article for The Meeting of Rivers. It is mentioned here Aloe Plaza, but it is a sad place as the picture doesn't even cover the fountain and it deserves its separate article. I added it as a request to Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Arts_and_entertainment/Visual_arts#Artworks, but is this something you would be interested in splitting out and finding pictures of?

I'm not sure if it is possible, but another cool addition to have picture of the famous hermit or the couple. I am guess "Sculptures of the fountain in 2016" is the famous mother and child, but I have never seen the sculpture in whole and not sure if there could be other like it.--Orubblig (talk) 20:53, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:34, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

German public banking sector moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to German public banking sector. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because Very sparsely referenced, needs to be better referenced before being placed in mainspace. Please submit to AfC when referenced. Thank you for your contribution. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back.  // Timothy :: talk  20:16, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of L-Bank

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on L-Bank requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/L-Bank. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Copying or moving content within Wikipedia requires attribution (second request)

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Danat-Bank into Darmstädter Bank. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:08, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve OFCE

[edit]

Hello, Boubloub,

Thank you for creating OFCE.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article is border-line notable as is. I couldn't find more English sources, but the current 3 secondary French sources refer to the founders but do not mention much about OFCE. Could be deleted as WP:NOINHERIT but I believe article subject is likely notable.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Shushugah}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Invitation to join New pages patrol

[edit]

Hello Boubloub!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Categories

[edit]

Hello, Boubloub,

Please do not empty out existing categories so that they get tagged for deletion as empty categories, CSD C1. This is called "emptying categories out of process" and is heavily discouraged. If you believe that a category should be deleted, renamed or merged, please nominate it at Categories for Discussion so that other editors can consider the nomination. If the discussion closes as "Delete" then a bot will remove all of the articles. Please do this in the future and don't blank pages. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:49, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OR and fake references

[edit]

What happened here? Please explain. Polygnotus (talk) 18:47, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same story here and there and here. Polygnotus (talk) 10:17, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did a quick check; can you check if there is other stuff that I've missed please? Thank you, Polygnotus (talk) 11:28, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop calling everything iconic and significant.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Please. Thank you. Polygnotus (talk) 11:03, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you improve the first sentence of Andrzej Leder and Emilio Bofill and the second sentence of Paris Monetary Conference (1867)? Thanks in advance, Polygnotus (talk) 11:26, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what your problem is with those references and more generally with my edits. Can you please elaborate? Boubloub (talk) 12:19, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what to explain. Have you read (at least the nutshell of) WP:OR? And my editsummaries? Another important page is WP:SYNTH. The first example of WP:OR I found was here. Look at the sources and compare them with the sentence in the article. The real source is your personal observation (which is called "original research" in Wikipedia jargon). Wikipedia articles must not contain original research, because Wikipedians are not "creating" new knowledge; Wikipedians report what reliable sources have written about a topic.
The sentence was It is a prominent source of ideas and commentary in debates about a wide range of EU-related issues, both in the United Kingdom and in the European Union. and then you provided 4 sources. But none of those sources actually stated that It is a prominent source of ideas and commentary in debates about a wide range of EU-related issues, both in the United Kingdom and in the European Union (or something similar using different words). That was your personal observation/original research/whatever you wanna call it.
This problem is usually caused by writing WP:BACKWARDS; you knew what you wanted to convey (that it is influential/a prominent source of ideas and commentary), but you couldn't find sources that explicitly said so. Instead, you added several sources in an attempt to demonstrate its prominence through those mentions in newspapers. However, this is considered original research and is not permitted.
As you can probably imagine, allowing original research would turn Wikipedia into worthless trash in a heartbeat, because some people on this planet are insane (to put it mildly). Therefore everyone has to stick to verifiable information and original research is not allowed. Does that help? Am I making sense?
Also, please read MOS:PUFFERY and WP:PROMO and WP:NPOV (e.g. Avoid stating opinions as facts. Usually, articles will contain information about the significant opinions that have been expressed about their subjects. However, these opinions should not be stated in Wikipedia's voice.) because we should not describe article subjects as significant[11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]/prominent[19]/iconic[20][21][22] in Wikipedia's voice unless in very rare circumstances. And artists shouldn't be described as "internationally recognized" artists here.[23] Have you heard of "Show, don't tell"? And we don't put positive reviews in the WP:LEAD section without even mentioning the media an artist works in.[24]
There are even more examples but Wikipedia is having database problems right now.
Polygnotus (talk) 16:24, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your clarifying response Boubloub (talk) 05:59, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In articles about banks, "significant" is a technical term and is appropriately used for banks which are among the top five in a given country. I won't reverse your edits but I don't see how using this word contradicts the guidelines you refer to. Boubloub (talk) 06:04, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I didn't know that. Based on a quick google search it looks like determining significance (or SIFIs/D-SIB status) is quite a bit more complicated than a top 5 in total assets. I'll revert myself. Polygnotus (talk) 07:08, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for you contribution. However, I don't think the cartoon refers to the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti specifically, but to savings and loans in general. There is no record of the specific bank being plundered ... Moreover, as far as I know, Tanlongo was not involved with the CDP. That is why I reverted your edit. But correct me if I am wrong. - DonCalo (talk) 13:18, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! But the cartoon clearly refers to Giolitti's involvement with the issue of the Cassa Pensioni which also involved the CDP, on which see e.g. https://www.garganoverde.it/download-1860-giuliani/risorgimento-da-download.html?view=download&id=787. To be sure, that reference does not mention Banca Romana or Tanlongo, but they are mentioned here: https://archivio.fototeca-gilardi.com/item/it/1/13452/CARICATURA+DI+GIOLITTI%2C+SCANDALO+BANCA+ROMANA. In any case, "savings and loans" is a US expression not Italian. In Italy the casse di risparmio are savings banks, and the cooperative banks would be named as such, or banche popolari. So "savings and loans" is definitely not a proper translation of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which only refers to that specific institution founded in 1850. If you think the CDP should not be mentioned, then I believe it's better not to translate the cartoon caption at all, pending a better source on the CDP / Cassa Pensioni story. I have made the latest modification in that spirit. Boubloub (talk) 20:53, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
