I woke up this morning and saw that you have deleted the [Al-Ahbash] page and merged it with [Aicp] although it should have been the other way around as [Al-Ahbash] has been there for the past more than one decade and [Aicp] was recently created by lifting content from the [Al-Ahbash]. I hope you will kindly look into that. Thank you. McKhan (talk) 15:27, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- Never mind. I was able to find everything by going into history. Thank you. McKhan (talk) 15:57, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- Al-Ahbash and Aicp has been merged now. Given that Aicp is an acronym of Association of Islamic Charitable Projects and the acronyms are usually written in capital letters, thus, I would like to suggest to change Aicp to either AICP or A.I.C.P.. Thank you. McKhan (talk) 16:20, 7 July 2016 (UTC)
- @McKhan: I have moved Aicp to Al-Ahbash. There is already a disambig page (with 5 choices) at AICP. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:57, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Moving talk page
Can you please also move Talk:La perla (film) to Talk:The Pearl (film), which was originally done by Anarchyte but then indirectly reverted by Music1201? GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 21:56, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

I just wanted you to know that while Talk:Malankara_Jacobite_Syrian_Orthodox_Church#Requested_move_13_July_2016 has been started, Zoupon made the supposedly uncontroversial technical move request which you did. Now, I support the move but the page has been move warred recently with no one actually commenting on the talk page and I don't think we should encourage this routine of page moves while ignoring the discussion (the last page mover seems to have ignored it as well). Would you mind closing the RM request at least? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 23:51, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- I would like to bring in to your notice that the RM to change the title of Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthox Church ( a non existing name) to Jacobite Syrian Christain Church is closed before the days allowed for discussion. and not hearing to different opinions . I have written what i want to say in this regard , you can verify the facts
- This is the in-correct and not a official name or not a name commonly calledWP:COMMONAME,
- The Exact Name Has to be Jacobite Syrian Christian Church . Pls See http://www.syrianchurch.org/ which is the official website of the Jacobite church which erroneously Wiki is calling Malankara Jacobite Orthodox church. In fact there is no church named Malankara jacobite orthodox church in kerala officially. A church may be called by different names , which can be detailed in the article but a totally non existing title for a church is misleading and confusing. Also see the website of their Parent church Syrian Orthodox Church http://syrianorthodoxchurch.org/directories/world/india/ . It clearly states that the Jacobite syrian christian church which is erroneously detailed under the Title Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church is only a Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church in India .
- Now see the google search record. It is seen that this name is not used as title name any where but only in wikipedia .The google news search with "Malankara Jacobite orthodox church" yields only 136 results however with "Jacobite Syrian Christian Church" Yeilds 665 results. Similarly in Google books The name "Malankara Jacobite church" figures only 1600 times but the name Jacobite SyriaN Christain Church Yeilds 27000 results. This Statistics itself shows that 'Jacobite Syrian Christian Church' is the name used for the church and they are commonly refeered as jacobiteIravikorthanan (talk) 04:59, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Ricky81682 and Iravikorthanan: Please re-state and continue this discussion in Talk:Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church#Requested move 14 July 2016. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:22, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

- Thought merging three might be weird. You can do whatever you think's best. You could just history merge Category:NFL Europe (WLAF) logos and Category:World League of American Football logos. Category:NFL Europa logos has been a redirect since 2010. I just combined the first two recently because they are the same thing. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 22:15, 21 July 2016 (UTC)

Secretary of State for International Trade
Hi Anthony Appleyard, thanks for all the help with dealing with the whole Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy/Secretary of State for International Trade fiasco. I have noticed that you have managed to recover the original Secretary of State for International Trade article which is now at Secretary of State for International Trade/short edits. If the 'short edits' version was moved back to Secretary of State for International Trade then all of the original history would be recovered. Ebonelm (talk) 15:36, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi Anthony. This hist merge in Rohini Balakrishnan still leaves me as the creator, anything to do about it now? Thanks, Sam Sailor Talk! 18:09, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Sam Sailor and SreeSubha Ramaswamy: Page Rohini Balakrishnan seems to have been greatly enlarged at 09:51, 16 July 2016 by SreeSubha Ramaswamy textmerging in much text, probably from a page that I have undeleted and moved to Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2). Before 09:51, 16 July 2016, Rohini Balakrishnan and Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2) cannot be history-merged because they are WP:Parallel histories, and Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2) has a confused history. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:33, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- Here is what I (believe I) can see, correct me if I'm wrong:
- The five oldest diffs presently seen in Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2) are from 2014 and 2015. These belong to a previous incarnation of Draft:Rohini Balakrishnan that was G13 deleted 16:18, 13 May 2015 by Chrislk02. Following Pages that link to "Draft:Rohini Balakrishnan" I can find no requests for refund.
- The four next diffs presently seen in Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2) (i.e. 16 July 08:50, 09:03, 09:09, and 09:10) originally was part of Rohini Balakrishnan before draftifying. As Rohini Balakrishnan presently starts at 09:11, is there an objection to hist merging those four revisions from Rohini Balakrishnan (version 2) to Rohini Balakrishnan? That would solve the matter of giving due credit to SreeSubha Ramaswamy, who started the article. Sam Sailor Talk! 08:24, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

Moves of Serbian Patriarchs
Hi Anthony, I saw that you acted upon some Wikipedia:RM/TR from user Zoupan, regarding the pages that are now titled: Gavrilo V and Vikentije II. See: permalink. I have to inform you that in this case the option of "Uncontroversial technical request" was misused, since there are long and substantial discussions on several talk pages regarding the titles of pages on Serbian Patriarchs. User Zoupan participated actively in those discussions for a long time, and in spite of that, he took unilateral actions from 02.22 to 02.28 h, changing titles of 10 pages in 6 minutes and requesting "uncontroversial" technical moves. So please, just take a minute and look at the standardized page for current Serbian Patriarch Irinej or previous Serbian Patriarch Pavle. User Zoupan did not dare to rename those pages, but he might, so please, be aware of that! He already removed words "Serbian" and "Patriarch" from titles of pages Maksim I, Atanasije I, Mojsije I, Vikentije I, Pajsije II, Gavrilo V, Vikentije II. By those moves, several problems are now created. First, new titles are more appropriate for disambiguation pages, since for each title there are several Serbian church leaders (patriarchs, metropolitans, bishops) that can be attributed with same name and number. In his explanation of requested move, user Zoupan labeled words "Serbian Patriarch" as "Awkward style" while in fact, that is the official title of head of Serbian Orthodox Church! So, it is clear that something very weird has happened in last 24 hours regarding pages of Serbian Patriarch and therefore I have alerted some Serbian editors. So please, take a minute to review recent actions and be aware that this problem has escalated. Sorabino (talk) 18:28, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Sorabino: I have moved the 7 pages named hereinabove back to Serbian Patriarch Maksim I, Serbian Patriarch Atanasije I, Serbian Patriarch Mojsije I, Serbian Patriarch Vikentije I, Serbian Patriarch Pajsije II, Serbian Patriarch Gavrilo V, Serbian Patriarch Vikentije II. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 19:53, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you very, very much! Sorabino (talk) 20:53, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
- I want to note that Sorabino has unanimously decided that the Article titles for Serbian patriarchs be moved to his preferred awkwardly styled names. No other church head uses "Greek Patriarch X", "Syriac Patriarch X" or "Armenian Patriarch X". There is no need at all to disambiguate when no other Maksim I, Joanikije I or Atanasije I exist at WP, nor would these potential other have the least notability as these patriarchs. There is indeed a discussion – that the user has neglected. If the church heads have the style of "Serbian Patriarch", then that title should come after the name. Btw, this history shows that the "revert" should be reverted.--Zoupan 21:31, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Sorabino and Zoupan: Best start a new move discussion about this dispute. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:03, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Cut and paste move, but not clear which procedure applies
Hi there, I noticed you fix a lot of cut and paste moves. Thanks for all that important work. I wanted to ask for help to fix such a case on the appropriate project page, but WP:RAA sent me to WP:AN, which sent me to Histmerge. But this template seems not to apply since not all content of the old page was copied (since not the full page history needs to be merged), unless I'm misunderstanding.
Anyway, content from 2016 Summer Olympics (mostly this edit) has been copied to the newly created Concerns and controversies at the 2016 Summer Olympics without attribution in either edit summary. Thanks for your help, Gap9551 (talk) 04:49, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

2010 Haitian earthquakes
- I was directed here by an unprotect request I made on the talk page for the 2010 Haitian earthquakes. Would you please consider removing semi-protection from the article? It is/was in a terrible condition and I suspect that Haitian people might be able to expand on it if it were unprotected. Thanks. generic_hipster 22:14, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Concerns and controversies at the 2016 Summer Olympics
Merge it again with Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Chronus created and offical "attack article", partial by nature. This is illegal, Wiki rules are against it. Also, this user Chronus is EXTREMELY partial in Wiki-PT ans is trying to bring it to here. 177.142.86.178 (talk) 09:20, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- This article, Concerns and controversies at the 2016 Summer Olympics, created by user Chronus, is what you can expect from him by now. This guy is communist and, at Wiki-PT (portuguese), he acts like a dictator and he is destroying it by political use and abuse. You, from Wiki-EN, need to stop him now, or he will keep doing this forever. He is Brazilian, but he is trying to attack Brazil because Dilma Rousseff suffered impeachment. In his mind, Olympics are a "rich man's thing" and the brazilian money should be spend only in hospitals, schools and slums. At Wiki-PT he is a naturally angry person, dominates the articles don't letting anybody edit, don't let anybody touch his "precious leftwing contributions". He don't have any mental contidion to edit. He will full the wiki-en with "controversial articles against right-wing things", like he did in Wiki-PT, and never, ever, putting any line against leftwing things. This article need to be deleted and merged with the original one, Chronus is completely partial creating an article just with "controversies". This is one of his plans in Wiki to create "official partialism". 12:29, 27 July 2016 (UTC) 12:29, 27 July 2016 (UTC) User:187.15.224.54
- @177.142.86.178: Page 2016 Summer Olympics had become long enough for there to be some need to split a daughter page off it. If Concerns and controversies at the 2016 Summer Olympics was biased, another user is busy tidying it, and likely as the days pass, other users will work on it. I can see that Chronus has been busy on pt:Jogos Olímpicos de Verão de 2016. But please avoid ad hominem-type accusations. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Brazilian politics. If you feel strongly about this matter, it would be useful if you registered on Wikipedia with a WP:Username, and then raised the matter in Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. New ice age modulation theory
A new theory on ice age modulation has been published recently. It suggests that Milankovitch insolation variations regulate interglacials, but only intermittently because strong northern hemisphere albedo often prevents warming. To overcome this, the paper suggests that CO2 must first reduce to a minimum, which causes flora dieback and the formation of CO2 deserts. This in turn causes dust storm eras, which lower the albedo of the ice sheets and allow an interglacial to proceed.
Modulation of ice ages via precession and dust-albedo feedbacks. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1674987116300305
I note the actual ice age page is protected, so I would be grateful if this additional section could be added. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age

Battle of Sirte (2016)
Recently you were asked for technical assistance on an article and helped to change it from Sirte offensive (2016) to Battle of Sirte (2016). The original article name was battle. However, an editor unilaterally (without a move request) changed it to offensive. Your assistance was requested after three editors (including myself) agreed that due to the original name change being done unilaterally and plus per Wikipedia's policy on common names (reliable media outlets calling it battle, not offensive) a change back to its original title (battle) was needed. However, the editor in question who unilaterally changed it reverted your redirect again. I myself have explained it to him that a consensus was established, that he should make a move request and pointed out the common name policy. He said I can revert him, making no mention he would do it himself (you can check his talk page as confirmation). Due to the technical reasons again, could you please redirect it back to battle once again? Sorry for the bother and thank you in advance! EkoGraf (talk) 03:00, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Re: Histmerge requests
Apologies if I have been requesting them in the wrong manner. The requests were a 50/50 over a histmerge and non-controversial RMs. They've only popped up when I have been looking through the Cycling team data templates, and there has been duplications. However, with the redirects in place, it has stopped the conventional page moves taking place. I'll go through the latter method if it causes fewer issues, and I don't think any more remain. Many thanks and kind regards. Craig(talk) 09:44, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Request to undo what is surely not an uncontroversial move
- Please see Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests where I asked to undo the definitely controversial move of WP:TFM and related templates. - I tried to turn that move request (User:ProveIt GT to Wikipedia:ProveIt) into a move discussion as listed in Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests, but Wikipedia refused, because User:ProveIt GT is a user page. The messages in that move request are:-

- Since Template:Template for merging/dated is a subpage of Template:Template for merging, the former will be automatically moved when the latter is moved with its subpages. The page Template:Tfm/dated was accidentally moved twice to Template:Template for merging/dated, with the latter being deleted in the second move and becoming a circular redirect, which was later reverted and the deleted revisions were restored. C-Real (South Korean band)
- Wondering if you could look at the history on C-Real (South Korean band) - it was obviously content rewritten and moved erroneously into BlackPink. The content was valid for the group C-Real. Could it be restored properly with the history before the history fork? Evaders99 (talk) 04:12, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Evaders99: This compare is the edit which replaced the name "C-Real" by the name "Black Pink". User:Gorobay asked for this history-merge at this edit. To what extent was the group Black Pink formed from former members of the group C-Real? Do you want me to split off the old history (from the beginning to this edit) inclusive of page BlackPink (South Korean band) and move it back to C-Real (South Korean band)? Page Move or Page Merger
I was wondering if you could help out with a page merge or move. I'm not really the best at doing this, and see a lot of article end up in merger limbo. I feel like I should be bold, but not sure how to go about doing this.
The articles for Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz (both who are subject of the same movie, War Dogs) are essentially exactly the same. Both men are notable for the exact same thing. I was wondering if you could get them merged or something, or moved to a page -- I don't know if each individual is in and of himself noteworthy, so much as what their company, AEY, did. Either way, articles should definitely be merged at the very least. Thanks! --FuzzyGopher (talk) 05:02, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- @FuzzyGopher: As Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz are distinct and different men, their articles should stay separate. Their 2 articles look to me to be significantly different. (This is definitely NOT the occasion for a history-merge!) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 18:40, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Bergen Belsen indefinite edit ban - wtf?
FFS a few trolls messing about and you slap an indefinite ban on editing Bergen Belsen.
Come off it??
Why not indefinitely ban all IPs editing any Nazi Concentration Camps then?
It's a total over reaction.

Mysteriously persistent URL in infobox, post-move request
Thanks for your speedy help on Clarius Entertainment, but after my initial cleanup edit here the old (& stale) Clarius homepage mysteriously keeps showing up, even if the parameter is empty or deleted! Is this a WP bug, or an artifact of the various moves & redirects?
Thanks for any additional help or insight. — DennisDallas (talk) 09:18, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Page Move or Page Merger
Hi Anthony I would like some help in completing the task of merging the stub CBR650F into the main article of the CBR600F. CBR650F should be merged into CBR600F. The CBR650F is just a continuation of the CBR600F model line. This fact is stated in many reliable sources and is in the references on the article pages.72bikers (talk) 22:28, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- @72bikers: CBR600F is now a redirect left by a move (not by me) to Honda CBR600F. Honda CBR650F and Honda CBR600F both have long editing histories and are WP:Parallel histories. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:39, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
Anthony I think you mite have misunderstood what I was asking. I do not want to move cbr600f page which has a long history. But would like to move the Honda CBR650F page with its very short history of less than a year and very small stub of a article, to merge and redirect to the CBR600F page. the CBR650f is just a extension of the cbr600f model line and as such it should not have its own page but to be just included on the CBR600F page. Also the CbR650F history is very short and this page was actually started for a different model the dual-sport motorcycle, part of the Honda CRF series. 72bikers (talk) 06:08, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
- @72bikers: For "to merge and redirect to the CBR600F page", presumably read "to merge and redirect to the Honda CBR600F page", because the page CBR600F was moved to Honda CBR600F at 03:54, 21 March 2006 by user ProveIt, leaving a redirect at CBR600F. Honda CBR650F and Honda CBR600F are WP:Parallel histories and thus cannot be history-merged with each other. By "merge", it seems that you want a text-merge rather than a history-merge. The text-merge that you seem to want, has already been done by someone: see Honda CBR600F#2014 CBR650F and the rightmost column in Honda CBR600F#Specifications. I have redirected page Honda CBR650F. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:29, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
Thank you for your help this is why I asked for help.72bikers (talk) 17:25, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
- I CSDed this because the user didn't create this - he copy/pasted someone else's work out of draftspace into his userspace, and he has been indeffed for copyvio and undisclosed paid editing. So I'm not sure what this is. MSJapan (talk) 17:16, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- @MSJapan: At 05:11, 11 September 2016 MSJapan, who had found that Draft:Bette Stuy and the last 6 exits of User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3 were both about Bette Stuy, asked me (using db-histmerge) to history-merge Draft:Bette Stuy into User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3, and I obeyed him. See User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3's history; if Umais Bin Sajjad is "the user", then Umais Bin Sajjad started Draft:Bette Stuy by copy-and-pasting from the (then) latest edit of User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3 . Do you want me to split off the edits about Bette Stuy and move them back to Draft:Bette Stuy? If so, should I move the later edits (by Umais Bin Sajjad and Sarita1126) along with them? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:30, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: I'd say move it back to draftspace and roll it back to the declined version prior to the Umais edits. He's been blocked for copyvio and undisclosed paid editing, so I wouldn't consider his edits to be acceptable just for that circumstance alone. The reference formatting is poor because the information is taken solely from articles the artist has posted on her website, and I'd bet that he did nothing but pull swathes of text from them. MSJapan (talk) 14:46, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- @MSJapan: From User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3 I have moved the edits about Bette Stuy to Draft:Bette Stuy. I have undeleted the other (older) edits of User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3. Is that what you wanted? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 15:12, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- It looks like you went the wrong way and kept the stuff that should have been deleted, because what's in there now is what I think is copyvio and the edits to it. It was everything prior to Sajjad's edits that should have gone to Draft. MSJapan (talk) 15:37, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- @MSJapan: "prior to Sajjad's edits": All the edits (well over 500 of them, about various subjects) in User:Umais Bin Sajjad/sandbox3 are by Umais Bin Sajjad. Of the edits in Draft:Bette Stuy, the earlier edits are by Umais Bin Sajjad and the later edits are by Sarita1126. What is to be done with what? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:27, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
- I see. I could have sworn that when I looked at the edit history of Draft:Bette Stuy, someone else started it months ago, it was then declined, and Sajjad then took that version out of draft space into his sandbox. If that's not the case, you might as well leave it and it will probably get deleted anyway as a dead draft. MSJapan (talk) 04:03, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

Veritas Technologies
Hello. I'm not sure if it's possible to fix, but the Veritas Software and Veritas Technologies articles that you completed a history merge of on 4 September need to be separated. Strictly speaking, they're two distinct entities, and shouldn't be piled together as one in the way they have. Veritas Software was purchased in 2005, and Veritas Technologies was spun-off in 2015. I'd be grateful if you could revert the merge, if it is indeed possible. Thanks, Cloudbound (talk) 18:57, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Good Times! and disambiguating album namespaces
Hi, just wanted to ask you since you're an administrator who moves pages to requested namespaces quite a lot: In ictu oculi (talk · contribs) reverted my months-old move of the Monkees album Good Times! to the disambiguated namespace Good Times! (The Monkees album), which I then undid citing your reasoning that the original title is unlikely to be created for anything else, if at all. Is this Wikipedia policy itself, is it based on WP:Notability, or is it just up to other users' personal preference whether they choose to disambiguate something unnecessarily? In ictu oculi and several other users seem to unnecessarily move pages because they think that punctuation isn't enough to separate the title from similar titles without the punctuation (in this instance, other albums with the title Good Times). Odd Arabic-language redirects
- Hi, I'm wondering if there's any purpose to redirects like this: سكس_امريكي. They seem to have been created because of receiving thousands of hits per week, but the only reason I can think of why this is happening is people using the wrong search engine when looking for porn. A similar one was deleted at RfD a few weeks ago, but there are a dozen more and I wanted to hear your opinion before bringing them up for deletion. Uanfala (talk) 19:57, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: One query is: people who type in those Arabic words, are they looking for information about pornography, or are they looking for pornography? Wikipedia is not a porn site. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:43, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- The fact that there are so many hits, for so many variations on the phrase "sex videos", in a language different from the one the encyclopedia is in, makes it very unlikely that this is the intended site for these searches. Wikipedia is one of the search engines that browsers normally have by default for their search box, so it's easy to imagine how such errors might come about. Uanfala (talk) 19:21, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Uanfala: Best delete them. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:49, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Anthony Appleyard. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Wanted to give you a deserved heads up in regard to a category you deleted, I believe it was earlier this year, Category:Redirects to Sinhalese-language terms. We have two articles that are titled with Sinhalese terms and that have English redirects to target them:
Both are the Romanized versions of Sinhalese script. And there will likely be more as I continue through the undetermined-language redirects. Paine u/c 08:33, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
