Recreate Article
Hey the following article Michael Yarmush was deleted sometime ago. Whatever the case was, could I or what would I have to do to recreate it. Hulkster1 (talk) 20:57, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- It wasn't deleted as an AfD so you may recreate it if you want. But, I looked at the deleted article. There were no references and I searched google and found nothing good. I'd say it has a tiny chance of survival if recreated. There are far more notable people to write about here:

- You are blocked. That means you, personally. You are not allowed to create new accounts to circumvent the block.
- You were using Wikipedia to host content about Denver Craft. If you want to contribute content to Wikipedia, let's talk about that. But, you cannot simply make pages and move them about if it is unrelated to building the encyclopedia.
- So, now, what do you think? Please communicate with me at User talk:Courtney Abigail. (Please do not create any more accounts.) I'm nice. Really, ask anyone, I'm very understanding. Just tell me what you want to do. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:25, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

File mover help
I might need your help moving some files on Commons, but I'm waiting to hear back from the image owner first. Viriditas (talk) 10:11, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

- The user has not responded and he's been active so I know he saw my message on my talk page. (You can view my comments here) Here's what I have so far:
- I emptied the category Japanese Heritage Gardens on Commons because it contained erroneously categorized images. The category should be renamed to "Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens" and re-populated (which I can do). Should the category just be deleted or is there a way to rename it? I probably should just recreate the new category.
- The images that were previously in this category that require renaming are the following:
- File:Japanese_Heritage_Gardens, Iao Valley.jpg - File:Korean Gardens, Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens.jpg This image is of a Korean garden, not a Japanese garden.
- File:Japanese Heritage Gardens, Pavilion, Iao Valley.jpg - File:Korean Gardens 2, Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens.jpg This image is of a Korean garden, not a Japanese garden.
- File:Japanese Heritage Gardens, Bridge, Iao Valley.jpg - File:Japanese Gardens, Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens.jpg
- I will notify the user of this discussion on his talk page. Viriditas (talk) 03:38, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- All done. You can add whatever parent cats you wish to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Kepaniwai_Heritage_Gardens
- Check the cats at the three images.
- I speedy tagged the obsolete cat with {{speedy|new cat (Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens) created to replace this one}} . I don't know how to move cats. I just make a new one and speedy the old one. No complaints so far and I've done it many times.
- If I got this wrong, let me know and I will fix it. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:54, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, it looks good. I'll start adding some more files. Viriditas (talk) 04:11, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Sentence Help
I am working on a radio station article (when am I not? :)) and I having trouble with making this one sentence sound right. Here's what I have so far, feel free to change them as you see fit (and I'm hoping to take the article to GA).
- On Sunday Mornings, church services from St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and Spruce Street United Methodist Church, located in Star City and Morgantown respectively, are aired live.
- On Sunday mornings, WCLG broadcasts two live local church services. Beginning first, with the 8:30am Liturgy from the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, located in Star City, West Virginia. Then the 10:45am Worship from the Spruce Street United Methodist Church, located in Morgantown.
Both have their problems, but it's the best I can do. Help? - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:10, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Leisure society
What do you think of this puzzle? There's a concept called a leisure society, a utopian idea that was written about in hundreds of articles, papers, and books in the 1960s and 1970s.[3] I suppose you could say that they wrote about it back then in the same way we write about a post-scarcity society and transhumanism today. In any case, having had the article on my list of things to do for some time, I went to go and have a look at it to see how it was doing. Imagine my surprise to find that someone had redirected this highly notable concept to a band that formed in 2009 called The Leisure Society. The band is, of course, named after the notable concept, a concept that now has no article. We've seen this kind of thing over and over on Wikipedia. A notable, but older concept that predates the birthdate of most editors and has hundreds of sources but little content gets moved out of the way for a person, place, or thing in popular culture that is named after the concept. What do you make of this kind of "recentism"? To make matters worse, an editor named Dylanfromthenorth (talk · contribs) prodded the article in 2011, which admittedly was a stub, but left an entirely fictitious deletion rationale as a justification for his prod.[4] I commented just now on his talk page.[5] In any case, a few hours after the prod, another editor came around and redirected the stub to the band.[6] Meanwhile, we continue to have a missing encyclopedic topic, and a redirect to a band named after the concept. I'm beginning to see this kind of thing more and more. Notable, historical concepts get pushed aside for references to popular culture because nobody can be bothered to do the hard work researching and writing about the topic. What's the solution to this kind of problem? I previously brought this kind of thing up with the disambiguation project and they told me in no uncertain terms to go take a long walk off a short pier. Any ideas? Pretty soon, every serious topic is going to redirect to "Brawndo". (It's got electrolytes!) Viriditas (talk) 10:20, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Anna and Viriditas, hope you don't mind my commenting. I concur, this sort of thing happens frequently, and it isn't just recentism. Take for example Antigonish, which redirects to the "city" in Nova Scotia. I initiated a move discussion (per a longstanding MOS standard for Canadian cities and towns) that Antigonish, Nova Scotia be moved over the redirect. It was deemed in the discussion that Antigonish (poem) was more of a primary topic than the town it was named after (in which case the DAB page should be at the un-disambiguted title, but that hasn't happened.) That is just my anecdotal evidence however. There is of course the following:
- It is easier to write about a band than a conceptual society (I don't think anyone would disagree with that), and this the articles are easier to make larger.
- The PRODed article had a reference but it wasn't standardly formatted (and didn't look much like a reference).
- The articles have unique names (i.e. The Leasure Society is all capitalized, and is prefixed with "the").
- People (Wikipedians especially) are always apt to take the path of least resistance (i.e. redirecting an article over formatting a reference).
- I personally see no issue with just reverting the redirect and putting hat notes on both articles (as there is no naming conflict), and tweaking the reference to make it look a little better. If you do want to improve the article on the hypothetical society you can of course do it within the article, or within userspace and request a delte-move-history merge (I am sure Anna, or even myself, would be happy to help with the delete/history merging). The convenient thing about having an article redirected rather than deleted is the history is still intact and anyone can view/use the old information as required to rebuild the article if they so choose. I guess in short, yes I agree with you Viriditas. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:02, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
- I share Viriditas' concern. However, the original holder of a name isn't necessarily the most notable - I think we have to take it on a case-by-case basis. Consider Boston or Newark... bobrayner (talk) 19:29, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- I'll assume good faith on the PROD, but the redirect was inappropriate. It's hard to say which is the primary, but I'd lean toward the utopian idea.
- If the utopian idea meets GNG, then it can stand even without sources so long as it's verifiable if challenged.
- So, there are three choice I see:
- 1) Restore the stub and hat the band article with "Leisure society redirects here, for the utopian concept, see Leisure society"
- 2) Restore the stub and make it the primary with a hat to the band.
- 3) Restore the stub, move it to something like Leisure society (concept), and turn Leisure society into into a dab page. Does the pesky "The" in The Leisure Society prohibit that?
- As for this issue in general, like bob says, case-by-case. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:35, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Absolutely case by case, and naturally the first named isn't always the most notable. I would avoid DABing Leisure society for two reasons, first there is a speedy criterion for a DAB page that disambiguate two pages (although there is a caveat of there being a clearly primary topic). Second, the two names are distinct enough (capitalization and "the") to not need a page. I would redirect Leisure Society (capitalized and no "the") to the concept. But that's just me, I have been known to make mistakes. I did sleep in once. --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:06, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Which speedy criterion? WP:CSD#G6? I see "If there are only two topics to which a given title might refer, but neither one is the primary topic, then it is appropriate to have a disambiguation page at the base name." I know of no guideline saying only two items isn't allowed at dab pages. I've even made a few:
- I agree with you about the "The". Technically, these are two different names, so two distinct articles could exist with Leisure society having a hat to the band. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:35, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Actually Template:Db-disambig says the page must end in (disambiguation) , that's my mistake, as there has to be a primary topic. But again in this case the names are significantly different enough, so a DAB page isn't needed, not that it would be forbidden. kelapstick(on the run) 11:25, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with you about the "The". Technically, these are two different names, so two distinct articles could exist with Leisure society having a hat to the band. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:35, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- So, where does that leave us. I guess the best plan would be for someone to expand it to at least a couple of paragraphs. That way, nobody would dare redirect it. But who? I can't because of my functional illiteracy, low IQ, and sheer laziness. Of course, there's Viriditas. :) Hmmmmm, let's see, great with words, high IQ, unlimited energy.....and, oh, yeah, he brought this up in the first place. :) Thoughts? Oh! - "OK glass, take a picture". Heh. Thanks to you both for your help. I see that Tony Veal over at the University of Technology, Sydney has put together a comprehensive working paper on the subject of a "leisure society".[7] The paper covers all research from 1890-2009. Whew, it might take me a while to put something together, but at least I know where to start. Viriditas (talk) 01:53, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Demographia
Saw your concerns on Jl2047a talk page. It's actually quite a used source on the site. We also have an article, List of urban areas by population, that uses data from Demographia. The author of the site is also published. While this may personal preference, the data from this site is much more reliable than sources such as the UN's World Urbanization Prospects. Elockid (Talk) 16:59, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Elockid. I appreciate your comments. Holy moly. I had no idea it was used so widely. I also have no idea why it has never been mentioned at RS noticeboard.
- Just to let you know, I did consult at the admin's IRC channel before acting. I really wanted to make the right decision. Some of the considerations:
- The site is run by http://www.demographia.com/ and http://www.publicpurpose.com/. The latter has a serious agenda, as does Cox himself. That, plus the general appearance of the site, and the absence of any sources for their data (as far as I could see), made me question the reliability.
- Another admin asked him to stop and he continued without comment.
- Ill formatting: To an article which had "population_metro =3,400,000 (2012)", he added formatting like "population_urban =2486000 (March '13)"
- The edits were to very major articles that get a lot of edits. I didn't want 247 questionable edits to get buried and watch hundreds more articles be affected. It would have been a lot of work to remove even a day later.
- I will immediately post at RS Noticeboard and see what the community thinks. I'm also curious what you think of the site. Sure, it's widely used, but I'm not sure that gives it credibility. I will start digging into those other edits to see if there were other mass-additions. Very best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:16, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- For metropolitan areas/urban areas/agglomerations, etc. there's really only two categories I put for them. One that uses solely UN figures and another that uses other methods. The UN based sources tend to have no statistical concept of comparison. Basically it's just comparing apples to oranges. If you look around city forums, there's usually a routine debate of how if London used the same definitions as the US census bureau, the population would be X million. The inconsistent definitions used by sources like UN often cause disputes. The reason I believe what makes the Demographia source more reliable is that they have a criteria for their data and explain the methodology. To ensure consistency, the figures are based off the same criteria. Not only that, it's much consistent with official sources. For example, Seoul's official metropolitan estimate is listed at over 25 million compared to Demographia's 22 million and the UN's figure of less than 10 million. The number for Demographia is much closer. There's also issues like this where sources that use solely the UN have a grossly underestimated figure while the official/semi-official sources have a figure more similar to Demographia. Cities like Moscow, Jakarta, and London are a few examples. Elockid (Talk) 02:29, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hmmmm, interesting. Now I don't know what to think. Would you please paste what you've just written at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#demographia.com? I think others would like to know your views. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:35, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Fils (not the Jordanian coin)
Anything posting about that character will be a sock - I'm blocking on sight. It was established at an AfD that quite a large part appeared to be made up or at best unprovable. A dead giveaway is the element of gender confusion, which would be normal in things translated from Japanese and languages where the pronouns and possessives agree with gender assigned nouns, but isn't in English. (An example being the six foot six black-bearded and heavily muscled sentry being 'elle' in French because 'sentinelle' is for some strange reason feminine.) No sign of this stuff being translated. Peridon (talk) 10:52, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi there! I recently removed some primary animal research from the Clinical applications section of Medical cannabis, and you reverted without comment ... I was wondering why? Alexbrn talk|contribs|COI 13:35, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Demographia
Seeing as the discussion on the Reliable Sources noticeboard seems to have dwindled down, I suppose we can now remove the demographia references from the articles, as others seem to have agreed to it. What do you think?
If so, I'll start removing the references from the articles if it's consfirmed to be a non-reliable source.
TheOriginalSoni (talk) 08:14, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I did quite boldy start that subsection at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#demographia.com called "Result of debate". So, as a courtesy to User:Elockid, maybe we ought to wait a little while. I also wish to remove the community-disapproved figures and refs from the articles. User:Elockid's blessings to remove the content would be ideal. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:45, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. about Shanghai Securities News
Dear Anna
Sorry for bothering you. I think there might be some misunderstanding in the page I created for a Chinese News Paper. What I quoted is a general description of the newspaper itself on its website. And I don't think it is a copyrighted text. And I had also written my own description for this newspaper.
So please kindly confirm this for me, and If there is still some copyrighted information, I can change and rewrite it.
Thank you very much!

- I'm sorry to say that someone has already deleted the article. Also, the content you quoted was from http://english.cnstock.com/, which has a copyright notice at the bottom. If you wish to recreate the article. I'd suggest first reading WP:42, and then finding sources. Once you've done that, let me see the sources and I can give you an idea about the viability of the article. By the way, out of curiousity, do you work for the organization? Because it is immaterial, it cannot be a compound, and because it is not a compound, it does not obey the law of cause and effect, and so it is immortal. That which is immortal can have no beginning because everything with a beginning must have an end. It also follows that it must be formless; there cannot be any form without matter. - (talk page stalker)@78.63.231.106: Have you seen our our guidance on reliable sources? The links you provided are not academic in nature. So far as I can tell, atman yoga is a branding term, not a theological term. We have articles on yoga and atman (as the former is a means of connecting to the latter). If you look at how those articles are written, I think you can get an idea of what would be required. Consider working in a sandbox to develop your content and submit it to WP:AFC. You could also talk to WP:WikiProject Religion for additional help. Chris Troutman (talk) 08:52, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- Excellent advice. Plus, I don't see the word "yoga" appearing too many times in those sources anyway. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:27, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Can i ask one thing then why Integral Yoga can be a page , in whole yogic contest there is no word as integral in English but still it exists, writings are developed on the basis or practice so it created. Atman is another word and Yoga is else. Yes but to reach to atman the yoga is atman yoga. it is not my personal belief, as i mentioned my master founded this system from himalayas and we wanted to have a wikipedia page so it is easy to make understand and to reach for everyone easy that what atman yoga is Can we have a wikipedia page? - Please read Wikipedia:Otherstuffexists. I don't know if Integral Yoga is notable, but it appears that Atman yoga is not. If you can find good references, then it can be an article. Again, read WP:42.
- Also, you said "we" and never answered my question from before. Are you interested in creating this article because you wish to promote it? Does this have something to do with your organization and drawing people to it? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:09, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
Dear Anna, This is a vedic style of writing where you use the word "we" for yourself, it is nothing to do with a group as generally people do in english, no , we don't want to promote anything, we don't want any advertisment, if you feel anywhere anytime like advertisment, you can remove anytime. It's a daily occurrence now
So, I'm looking for an article on Sigfried Giedion's famous book, Mechanization Takes Command (1948). Click on the link. Is it about the book? :) Viriditas (talk) 11:32, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- I believe you. So, what should be done? Do we have some sort of page to handle these? By the way, the album gets only a few hits a day and Giedion gets something like 60.
- For convenience, here's the link to the last one you brought to our attention: User talk:Anna Frodesiak/archive39#Leisure society
- This may sound dumb, but if nobody has written about the book, why shouldn't the Mechanization Takes Command page be about the album? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:11, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- There's no such thing as a dumb question, and by asking it, you've hit upon my main concern. It isn't that it shouldn't be about the album–obviously that's fine. The problem that I'm finding is a) when we have a primary topic, it is often relegated to a redirect or subsumed under a popular culture article which takes precedence, and b) when we don't have an article on the topic, we often have a popular culture article using its name. So, you're right, there's nothing wrong at the moment, other than the fact that we are lacking good coverage of encyclopedic topics by name, while many of these topics are found only in references to popular culture. I agree that the solution is to expand the original topics, but I'm seeing so much of this on a daily basis that I think your suggestion for a list of x articles that don't have primary topics is a really good idea. Viriditas (talk) 23:26, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- That makes sense. So, are you suggesting a category, or would a page, say, as part of WP:Requested articles be needed? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:55, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- I would like to see Wikipedia:Notifications used for this kind of thing. For example, users could sign up for specific notifications either through their WikiProject or through some kind of topic or interest based news feed. If someone finds an important topic that isn't covered properly, there should be a way of adding it to a notification feed that then distributes this article to other feeds watched by interested editors. We could also interface with User:SuggestBot to distribute these articles to interested users. There's a lot of untapped potential for this kind of feature. I say this because a lot of new editors come here and start editing because they can't find a topic they are looking for! Now, what if we could also tap into the editors we already have who have the interest and/or expertise to help out. And what if we took this one step further, and matched up multiple editors with similar interests, and invited them to collaborate? You see where this can go? We can create and promote a collaborative-driven editorial system that gets results, rather than the tag and abandon it system that we have in place. The possibilities for this kind of thing are endless. We need to start moving away from static requested articles pages and start using the system to draw editors into the process. While some editors will surely want to be left alone, many others are here to share what they know and learn what they don't. Viriditas (talk) 01:06, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
- I like it. And I agree that those static lists can get ignored. (The images needing articles has gone really dry this past few months.) So, what's the next step? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:13, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- This discussion could go in many directions, so it might be helpful to take a step back and see where we've been. When you first started editing, you might remember that requested article feeds appeared in the top of your watchlist where MediaWiki:Watchlist-details appears today. So that's one example of how these types of requested articles were once fed to other editors. Another example are the static pages we have today, many of which are now under the auspices of corresponding WikiProjects. Many years ago, I experimented with creating project categories for requested articles because I believed a bot could then be created to "distribute" the members of these categories to interested users. Of course, everything I created was deleted by admins who probably no longer edit here. As I mentioned earlier, we have SuggestBot, but that only helps connect editors with already existing articles and doesn't help editors network with other editors. Can you think of anything else I missed? Viriditas (talk) 03:49, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- I don't remember requested article feeds appearing in the top of my watchlist. Anyway, this whole take it to 'em plan sounds very good. It's about content creation, and you know how I feel about that. So, three parts, right? Find people who want to create. Generate the list of items to create. Figure out the mechanism to match them up. Is this the right path? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:44, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- You don't remember the old watchlist menu? There's supposed to be a project space page somewhere that documents the features and changes over the years. I wonder if that feature is located there. I'm surprised you don't remember. It was the old watchlist interface with the requested articles feed running across in bright red links. It's really hard to forget! :) As for the path, sure that's one way to describe it, but how would you visualize it? Look at all of the wasted real estate on this screen, starting from the top right to the left corner working your way down on the left sidebar and then across the bottom of the screen. There's a lot of opportunity to use that space to interact with other editors and their articles. At the moment, I'm confined to this input box, which is circa mid-1990s technology. If I'm interested in snails, and you're creating a new stub about a snail, I should be able to see that new snail stub pop up somewhere as a live notification. Although there are a million ways to visualize this, you could take a traditional approach and think of it as a pie with missing pieces indicating a new stub. It could appear on the screen showing the name of the primary contributors working on it as a visualization of a recent changes feed. So we already have this data, but I'm talking about delivering it to users who want it. Projects have this already but I want to be able to see it on this screen on a sidebar, let's say, as a little pie popping up with the name of the editors and the name of the stub. A new talk page message might make a pie slice phase or blink, or allow for live annotations. Let's say you create a red link in the new snail stub that needs a new article. A red link in that new stub could automatically notify a group of interested editors in another topic area indicating that a new article is waiting to be created, and a little pie indicating a new red link could appear in the interested editors notification bar. The possibilities are endless. One thing though, I would like to see the interface become more receptive to touch and talk feedback. What if you could move those pie pieces around and get information from them? This site is far too mousy, too old school. We're moving into touch, talk, AR and ubiquity territory. As an editor, I would love to write and research articles when I'm jogging or walking or even laying down. And people who use tablets aren't going to be satisfied with what we currently have; nothing is swipeable except for browser direction. What if you could move these pies around and get information from them? Drop them into other pies for categories, or add other editor pies for notifications? Now how about taking multiple pies and getting actual intersection query results in the form of new pies? And what about seeing the links between pies, pulling up timelines, family trees, the history of an idea, the development of a technology, displaying all linked topics in one continuous chain of interconnected knowledge in whatever form you want? Viriditas (talk) 11:59, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- The old watchlist menu doesn't ring a bell. Maybe that was before my time. I have no idea what to suggest. Your plan would be opt-in, right? I say this because we want to send stuff out there, but lots of people on the Internet are all about stopping people trying to get in. Maybe that's why Wikipedia is so nice. It's clean. No bombardment. I find all that "...touch, talk, AR and ubiquity territory..." terribly overwhelming.
- So, if users could request some sort of display message saying what's happening, and it's not making the page load slower, and people want it, fine. I like the idea. I don't really understand the pie thing, though. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:00, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- Have you already visited Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-echo to see what is already available? And when you open your notifications menu at the top, do you see all the different icons indicating the type of notice? I'm not sure what is so overwhelming about touch, talk, AR and ubiquity. When you say the interface is clean, I'm not sure I agree. If you visit a lot of different sites (I know your access is severely restricted) you would find that this site is very far behind. Viriditas (talk) 08:55, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

- Well, maybe you're right. I think we started discussing taking redirects that should be articles but still aren't, and thinking how to make a list or cat of those as articles needed. Then we moved to discussing how to turn passive lists into some sort of notification system like the one before I was around. Then, I sort of started to feel like I was flying blind in the discussion. Then, I started to think how I and others encourage users to work on things but they are usually busy with other things to do. I think the discussion lost focus. Usernames that never reply to the "username concern" query
I just let them go; sometimes, I suspect, they just go and start new accounts with acceptable usernames. If they resume and people still have issues with that name, the warning is still on the page and the conversation can be resumed. Daniel Case (talk) 00:07, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Uroševac/Ferizaji
Hello AF.
You asked an interesting question here[8]. However your reply of there only being 26 Serbs from IJA doesn't answer why there is no match (eg. if that were a valid reason, the page should have been at that target and then questions on how it is in English sources would come to light and the bulk of coverage comes from 1999 when the name found itself on people's lips and then it was being reported as Uroševac). Further to that, the issue at hand is not that there is no match, but the article currently stands protected in a vandalized state because it doesn't contain ONE cache reference to its article title, all mentions of Uroševac have been removed without consensus here[9]. Also, if you care to examine the same edit, you will see that word "Ferizaj" plastered down the entire foreign languages section and this is turn is landing on duff targets - if that is constructive please explain what isn't. This revision is not only a better overall presentation but the languages are all correct, where the article is called Ferizaj it is left as such and in languages where it is called Uroševac that is how it is given. In Turkish it is Ferizovik and as for Serbian, Russian and others, not only is Ferizaj wrong but the articles are written in Cyrillic and so displaying Ferizaj is plain wrong in every way. I must insist that you do the right thing and DISCARD that I have abused multiple accounts and assert your authority there, because your friends J delanoy, Mark Arsten and Bobrayner's remaining Guard of Honour are protecting this racket. Bobrayner may be on good terms with you but he has been issued three ARBMAC warnings in 2013. You are the FIRST non-involved editor (let alone admin) to broach this subject which has dragged on too long. So. Will you act? Or will the likes of IJA remain free to spread pro-Kosovar Albanian propaganda. 94.197.118.80 (talk) 11:50, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm neutral. My allegiance is to Wikipedia, not Wikipedians.
I personally don't care which name is used. I care about visitor experience. Right now the title and only name used within the article don't match. There's no explanation for visitors and they must be confused.
I've replied at Talk:Uroševac#Uroševac or Ferizaji

You know, the ones paid 5p or so per task. There's an understanding of WP in that they hide the links, but absolutely no understanding in the way they stick to a script, and don't seem to realise that a user page belonging to 'Joe Bloggs' is not going to be visited by anyone at all. Except for the patrollers, who don't seem to be understood, either... I'm not sure how spambots work, but they must be able to read the captcha thing. I've just created an alternative account, and the captcha was the easiest I've ever seen. Peridon (talk) 10:46, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Demographia yet again
Hi,
The conversation on the RS noticeboard seems to have been archived. Given that the discussion seems to have been mainly in favour of removal, would it be safe to start removing the links from the article? What would you suggest we do while doing the relevant removals?
Regards, TheOriginalSoni (talk) 23:20, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. I think it is safe to remove the figures and accompanying references.
- I think we should just give a link to the archived discussion in the edit summary like:
- Remove figures and reference per Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 161#demographia.com
- Is that what you mean? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:28, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Entry removal
Yes you sure researched right. Indeed it is only one because hard rind, aged, cheese was not produced in Serbia before. This one is first farmstead artisanal one in Serbia. We are currently in procedure of protecting origin of our product. Maybe if you would wait couple of hunderd years Kozjak become will be the name of widespread type of chease in Serbia, until then it is something new in this area which sure should be mentioned, not just as pionirig effort but as brand that has its audience in Serbia and the World. If you would delete my entry, I wonder how French ambassador whom brought our cheese with him self in his country to show it, would explain this to his wikipedia reading friends. In the end, why have you deleted my post, and didnt Pule cheese, one line below, which is also produced by one farm in Serbia, and is not native. Thank you for your effort, and hopefully understanding :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Palexic (talk • contribs) 11:57, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, my friend. Please don't be upset. I removed your entry because List of cheeses should really be about notable cheeses. That means cheeses that can be googled and possibly have their own article. Your cheese is not so much a kind of cheese as it is a family brand. Also, adding the link to your website seemed promotional.
- If you can show that this cheese is produced in places outside your company, please provide the links. Or, if your cheese is so notable that it passes WP:42, then certainly it should not only be in the List of cheeses article, but may merit its own, standalone article.
- By the way, I think you making goat cheese is a great thing. People who make good, artisanal food, deserve the highest respect.
- Oh, and I'm not trying to be mean, just doing my best to help Wikipedia. Thank you very much for your understanding. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:12, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

- Same to you too Anna! Yes all is very well with me, thanks for asking; I hope everything is OK with you too. A week ago we spent two weeks in Sanibel, Florida, the shell capital of the USA. It was warm and sunny and really lovely; found a bunch of shells I had not found before, including a few that were new to the list for SW Florida. And so far NYC has not really been hammered by any of the big winter storms that have caused suffering in a lot of the rest of the country. NYC did range from 70º F (what???) last Sunday to the mid-20s today. But we are fine. Hugs, Invertzoo (talk) 00:45, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- Great to hear back from you, Susan. I'm very pleased to hear that you found new shells. I checked out some Sanibel images. It looks lovely and the name sounds like a hand soap product too. :)
- You are lucky not to have had the big storms that Canada got. I think they are all still in the dark feeling around for the turkey.
- Things are good here. Lots of flooding in the countryside a couple of months ago. The timing was okay. Only a few sugarcane fields destroyed from what I saw. It left the land more fertile and caused a boom in those bugs that walk on water and in freshwater snails. The farmers collect the snails and either eat them or feed them to the ducks. So, we should have more ducks, which is good. I like ducks. I don't like geese. Sometimes geese chase me down the road so I'm frightened of them. Hugs to you and happy holidays. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:22, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

...for your information about probable sockpuppets. One of the accounts is enough of a duck that I have blocked it (despite the hoax edits being put among some constructive edits, perhaps in an attempt to hide them), and likewise with the IP address. The other one looks to me very probable, but the amount of editing so far is too small to be able to be certain. It may be worth asking for a CU, in view of the possibility of sleepers; otherwise it seems to me that it's just a matter of wait and see if the account edits. Any opinion? JamesBWatson (talk) 17:52, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

- Hi Jeff. I've restored the deletion tag. That must remain until the debate is settled at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eric Hennig (2nd nomination).
- Is your username related to www.entertainment4u.co.za/ or http://www.manta.com/c/mtm57f4/entertainment-4-u-llc or some other organization? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:46, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Anna,
- My user name is not related to that website or any other organization. I just made it up. :-)
- I read WP42, thank you! I found a press release from Target Corporation interviewing Eric about his career and how he worked at the company prior to acting. He also has another press release with STL post dispatch which is listed on his references on the page. When searching I've also found interviews of him on news stations doing press for past projects. It looks like his twitter account is verified as well. Would all of that not qualify?
- Thank you!! Entertainment4u2013 (talk) 05:32, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- No relation an organization, understood.
- I'm not sure you read WP:42 carefully enough. It says "Not a press release."
- Twitter doesn't say anything about notability.
- I'm really not sure there is enough in terms of media coverage. Let's see how the AfD debate goes. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk | contribs | block) at 05:53, 28 December 2013.
- WP:42 not a press release, understood. I was referring to having an article by a reliable sources. I may of not worded that the best.
- About twitter, Another user commented on the deletion page that "As stated in WP:NACTOR.one of the traits that makes an actor or actress notable is: "Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following".
- Wouldn't the actors twitter page meet that requirement? I'm still fairly new to the editing process. Thank you very much for the information and tips! How exactly does the AFD debate work? Cheers! Entertainment4u2013 (talk) 20:37, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean by "...WP:42 not a press release, understood. I was referring to having an article by a reliable sources...."
- I don't know anything about Twitter. I'm in China where it's blocked. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
- By the way, if you are connected to the subject in any way, please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
In your nomination for the deletion of File:Darj.28rh252-4643.29.jpg you listed 3 other files, but did not tag them appropriately for the discussion. Could you please go back and tag them appropriately, or better yet, open new separate discussions for the three? Thanks, -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 19:49, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- I've tagged the others all for the 26th because now it's the 29th, and I don't want to confuse others even more. Please let me know if you still want them separate. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- By the way, you must find it frustrating that users don't follow the 3 steps properly. I was one, maybe because Twinkle handles it like it handles a PROD. It just says it's notifying and creating the entry, etc. I never saw any message saying that I was supposed to tag images in articles. I never knew about the 3 steps. Did I miss some information message somewhere? Could this be one of the reasons that people tag incorrectly? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:05, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- To be honest, apparently, I haven't followed the process correctly. I would venture that 95% of editors do not follow the process correctly. Another editor pointed it out, and started accusing others of purposely disruptive behavior by not knowing all of the steps involved. I was just coming to you in WP:AGF since the other editor could not be bothered to handle this in an appropriate way. The only way to know the steps is to ready the discussion tag on the images or by going to the WP:PUF guideline. Sorry about all of this, and thanks for your understanding. Cheers. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 13:09, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- If most don't follow the process correctly, it may be due to some missing info message needed when using Twinkle. It's worth investigating somehow. Maybe survey those who make mistakes to find out why. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:47, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- The simple answer for why its not done is that its not part of the automation of twinkle. Twinkle does for PUF what it does for FFD and NFCR which is just create a discussion on the appropriate page, and tag the image with the discussion tag. In the multiple years that I've worked in the file space I have never "correctly" went through the process with the caption tag. I don't think a single "regular" editor at any of the three above does that. No one has really brought it up as being an issue until recently. Based on the recent closing of Template_talk:Non-free_review#RfC:_Should_the_non-free_review_template_be_added_to_articles.3F, I would assume that just like a consensus of editors not wanting non-free tags on article pages, editors would also support not having PUF tags on image captions of article pages because it detracts from the page. I honestly believe that it is an unnecessary step. -- ТимофейЛееСуда. 03:33, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. I posted here: Wikipedia talk:Possibly unfree files#Using Twinkle - Step III omitted.

User:Courtney Abigail causing more problems?
User:23.243.80.13 who may or may not be User:Courtney Abigail has been causing problems over the last month. He/she has been inserting false data into climate boxes, inflating the snowfall amounts of various random places around the globe (see User talk:23.243.80.13 for my warnings). This false information has remained unreverted for weeks, because it seemed plausible. Quite embarrassing for WP.
I'm not asking for any specific action: this is just an FYI, so that we can have multiple eyes on the potential problem. Thanks for you attention. —hike395 (talk) 18:02, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I don't think it is her. The writing is too good to be Courtney Abigail (User talk:Anna Frodesiak/archive39#Blocking). Besides, she never wrote about weather. Anyway, it's odd. All of these false weather figures and then this, smack in the middle. I'll keep an eye on the contribs. Many thanks and best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:51, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) In article-space, it doesn't look like Courtney Abigail to me (despite this), but I can't see deleted contributions - maybe there's more evidence out there. I don't know who else 23.243.80.13 could be - there are no obvious matches in the history of List of buildings with 100 floors or more. bobrayner (talk) 22:43, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think Abigail did not have the IP address after November. And there are no deleted contribs. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:53, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

- You created a fake article about yourself at your userpage. It was pure self-promotion. That is not what your userpage is for and not what Wikipedia is for. This is an encyclopedia. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:18, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Too many rules
After I restored the Template:Plainlist it became clearer you were only cleaning up after an earlier edit that had removed the template but left the list. Too many rules to keep track of them all, and even when you think you know them some small cabal goes and changes them. There should be more automated bots to help change things to newer better formatting (especially the difficult to understand semantic formatting like this that mostly benefits machine readers anyway). Always easier when a good editor follows the WP:SIMPLE rules and actually explains with an edit summary, it is a politeness I greatly appreciate. Thanks. -- 109.79.136.19 (talk) 02:36, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I just saw the bullets and removed them. I had no idea about the plainlist format. Perhaps a bot could go and switch all the film infobox "starring" entries to plainlist. You could inquire at Wikipedia:Bot requests. Thank you, my friend, and many happy edits. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:47, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Suggestion on Harbin Institute of Technology
I was editing the Wikipage of Harbin Institute of Technology for the benefit of Wikipedia readers, but not for any personal interest. I found the page controversy among editors/manager.
Clearly the controversies are in the main page as follows:
1. The description of "C9 League research university". This description is quite unclear. Of course the main page should be brief but Wiki also needs to present readers the most useful and direct information. What we are doing is for readers; but readers don't want to become more confused, or needlessly jump from one page to another.
2. The statement of "it is widely recognized as one of the top universities... in mainland China". It is true not only according to the academic evaluation but also to the internal positioning by the Ministry of Education of the Government of P.R.China. HIT gets the 2nd amount of grant every year and the Chinese student recognize it as top engineering university to attend. So as you know the ranks have their own evaluation criterions and ranks cannot say everything of an organization. That's why we need to consider about the locally public praise. Of course we didn't cover students in HK, Macau, or Taiwan but it's always better to avoid such matters because the real thing is well known.
For Wiki, copy editors contribute a lot but the knowledgeable informants also play an important role. There's no autocrat or sole authority here. Everyone should be respected as I respect your profession. We should stick to the principles and be flexible as well.

Contested deletion
Hi! This is concerning the Andy DiGelsomina speedy deletion, a talk page has been started. Why does a critically acclaimed composer get deleted from Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockovageless (talk • contribs) 14:04, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
- For the reasons explained here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Andy DiGelsomina. Please read WP:42. Step one is gathering sources. If you can paste some good sources here after reading 42, please do, and we can reconsider. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:25, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
From Ronanin
That website http://pbtindia.com/ is not promotional material. Its about medical negligence In India. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ronanin (talk • contribs) 08:47, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- You are right. I am sorry. I even used rollback thinking it was spam. When I see an addition that reads "...Please check out this website before traveling to India http://pbtindia.com/..." it just rings alarm bells. You must realize, though, that this is an encyclopedia, and writing that was is inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Better would be to incorporate the facts of the article into prose. Simply adding external links, or a "check this out" entry, is not really good for the article. Please read the links I gave you and consider writing instead of simply adding sites. Thank you, and again, sorry for thinking the addition was not an advertisement. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, I see you have restored the edits, one now reading "...But there are cases of medical negligence in India. For more info please check out http://pbtindia.com/...". Please see how it is done in other articles. Maybe, maybe, maybe, that statement could be there without the "...For more info please check out.." with the url linked as a reference. But, it should really be incorporated into the article as prose, written in your own words, balanced, and well sourced.
- The other edit is the addition of the website criticizing the medical system as the only external link. That will most likely be removed because it gives a lot of undue weight that way.
- If you want your edits to remain, please try to read up a bit and see how other articles are presented. I think your latest additions will be removed by others. I don't want you to have your time wasted. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:18, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Erich Priebke.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Erich Priebke.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Persistent vandal
User:Bancheepiper is persistently vandalizing, spamming and POV-pushing on the page Magnificat Meal Movement. Amongst other things, they keep adding links to www.caic.org.au at the most random places in the article, sometimes multiple times above each other, making various unsourced statements such as Magnificat Meal Movement using brain washing twchnics [sic], adding WE ARE A CULT in all caps mid-article, removing parts of the article, adding "Aka cult" at random points, inserting the word 'cult' midsentence, mid-word or adding it as a pre- or suffix to words. They have been reported to the AIV over an hour and a half ago. They have so far made no less than 21 vandalizing, spammy or otherwise unconstructive edits to the article. As of a few minutes ago, an IP-address has also jumped in. Couple of diffs to show what I mean: [1],[2],[3]. User has been warned by User:Dwpaul, User:Cluebot and User:AKS.9955. Re: La Onda
Hi, Anna, Happy 2014! I was wondering if you could help me with something. User:Cjwillar has been working hard on La Onda, an article I created some time ago. Unfortunately, it looks like all of the images he added were recently deleted. Could you help me find out how and why they were deleted? From the page history, there appear to be four:
- File:Jornada--Avandaro Music Festival.jpg
- File:Los-jvenes-buscaron-que-obreros-comerciantes-y-dems-grupos-de-la-sociedad-civil-se-unieran-al-movimiento-nete-pueblo-fue-uno-de-los-lemas-ms-comunes-durante-las-manifestaciones.jpg
- File:27aug3.jpg
- File:Avandaro Music Festival.jpg
How do you go about tracking down the problem? Were they uploaded to Wikipedia or to Commons? Was there a deletion discussion? What's the best tool for an editor to use to answer these questions? Since the user was somewhat new, I have no dobut that there must have been an issue, but these are historical photographs and may be of some use. I'm also curious what license was used. Thanks, and no hurry on this. Viriditas (talk) 10:43, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, it looks like the link to the Commons deletion log is coming up now when I click on them. For some reason, it did not show up before. How strange. I think the problem is solved. According to the summary, the user does not appear to have ever used a license, so they were deleted. I wonder if these images were ever free. If they were, it would be a great loss. I believe this solves the problem. Sorry to bother you. Viriditas (talk) 10:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, okay. Here are the log links anyhow:

Andy DiGelsomina article
You asked about the relevance of the topic of the article "Andy DiGelsomina": well,
a) the guy has been employing some top names in the rock business since 2008 (see articles on Graham Bonnet, Mark Boals, Al Atkins, etc.), for two albums in fact.
b) The best known heavy metal writer in the world Martin Popoff called him a "great songwriter" and his music potentially the "next Led Zeppelin".
1) The archive where the Popoff Lyraka review is here: http://www.hardradio.com/hr3.html?http://www.hardradio.com/reviews/archives.php3
2) Easier access for the review: Popoff review
c) His debut album, Lyraka Volume 1 (see below), received both critical acclaim and CD sales(see Lyraka Volume 1, also there is a link to reviews on the first page of Lyraka.com).
d) here are just some of the dozens of interviews conducted with DiGelsomina over the years: Andy DiGelsomina Interviews
e) Just a few of his employees, for two albums straight:
These are among many other entries involving DiGelsomina in Wikipedia. Not really sure what targeted the article for deletion, simply Google any of the above, or as mentioned follow the links in the original article. To put this up for speedy deletion just doesn't add up. Please check again the original article, it seemed to me it was mostly a problem with it looking like an advertisement, I can understand that because there are already too many Facebook-like articles here. I do know that the subject e-mailed me awhile back and said that a stalker tried to wipe out the content on the article within the last couple of months.
Perhaps you could better explain what prompted such a "speedy deletion", because the above seems quite notable. I could be wrong.

- Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I have been on holiday, somewhat. The above content is not suitable for an article because the subject is not notable. See WP:42. That content is also not suitable for your userpage for the reasons I stated at User talk:Dr Niraj Vora. A few simple sentences about who you are would be okay for your userpage but please understand that your userpage is not there for self-promotion. This is an encyclopedia, not a web hosting service. Again, I encourage you to help build this encyclopedia.
- I notice that you say "we". Is this a company account? Is it a group account used by others? Thank you, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:44, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Need Help
I have created an article An Astrologer's Day. It is one of the most notable short story of R. K. Narayan an Indian story writer. It was created few days ago. I have sourced it properly with reliable references. But some one has nominated it for deletion and the reason is "It is not a notable short story" instead it is given in the lead section that it is first short story of world famous collection of short story book called Malgudi Days. So, can you please review the article and give a conclusion in the AfD. Thank you. Rudra john cena (talk) 18:41, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- The result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/An Astrologer's Day will almost certainly be "keep". I will leave it to someone else to close. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:48, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Anna, can you tell me how can I become a autopatrolled user. I am creating back to back articles here, I have already created 3 article back to back in 2 days. This three articles are Remember The Roses, An Astrologer's Day and To India - My Native Land. I am going to create more articles in within the next few days. So, I want to transform into a auto patroller so that my articles could not get any deletion without any reasons. My status for creating new articles here are always good. I haven't created any article which violates any wikipedia policy, but mistakenly An Astrologer's Day was nominated for deletion without any reason and in AfD it is certain that it will be "keep". So, I want to transform can you help me. Thank you. Rudra john cena (talk) 14:35, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes. You can post here: Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled. However, if and when you do, I will object because of the issues I raised here: User talk:Rudra john cena/Archive 1. Also, content in the articles you've written appear in a style very different that of your talk page posts. Franky, I am quite concerned that you may be adding copyrighted content. For the record, have you added any content that appears verbatim elsewhere in print? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:55, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oh no, Everything I have added is written by my brother he is a university student and he has helped me creating this articles every word that has been used in the article was constructed by my brother. Please don't think me illegal as my brother is creating this article and he is far more good in english than me.

- If you don't believe me. Then alright I will stop creating any more article. But I swear my god I am not doing any Illegals. Rudra john cena (talk) 15:15, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Do continue to create articles. Wikipedia needs that. But, please understand that my concerns are quite justified. In light of the fact that you've lied, added fake sources, and already added copyrighted content, I think it is best that you are not autopatrolled right now. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:38, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I deed it earlier but this time I haven't did it. Please believe me. Rudra john cena (talk) 15:57, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- In this three articles I have give the most appropriate and reliable sources, you can see. So please belief me. Rudra john cena (talk) 16:01, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Okay. I just really hope the content isn't from library books. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:04, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Do you think that summarys of a Indian rural story can be found in any library. And I don't think that the writtings are upto the standard that a library book would have. Moreover some one told me to copy edit the article. Rudra john cena (talk) 16:34, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:52, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
