RM close
Hi Amkgp
Please will you review your close of Talk:Murder in Texas#Requested_move_30_June_2020?
That discussion was notable for the fact that all the opposes specifically contradicted a clearly-worded part of the guideline, and some of them were also demonstrably wrong on a crucial point of fact. WP:NOTAVOTE, and such !votes should be discounted.
Per WP:NACEXP, I ask that you reconsider whether it was appropriate for you to close such a discussion. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:56, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Same applies to Talk:Novae#Requested_move_29_June_2020. The opposes ignored the relevant guideline. That close should also have been left to an admin. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:58, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Amkgp: I would appreciate a response to this request. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:41, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- It has been closed as an un-involved editor after standard discussion time has elapsed, resulting no clear consensus. If you feel the result the other way you can re-raise the move request in a few months. ~ Amkgp 💬 17:40, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- That doesn't even try to answer my question, Amkgp. I can see for myself that it has been closed as no consensus. That's precisely why I came to your talk ... because you seem to have ignored WP:NOTAVOTE.
- Anyway, since you clearly don't want to even try to understand the issues, I will take this to WP:MR. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:54, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- I have not ignored WP:NOTAVOTE. Indeed most of editors who participated are here in Wikipedia more than a decade and they have tried also put their explanations behind their vote. I don't think they did it because WP:IDONTLIKEIT or WP:JUSTAVOTE. The decision to close was taken because it was WP:NOTBURO and no clear consensus was reached. I would again like to emphasis that if you think the decision other way you are welcome to re-raise the move request. Thank you. ~ Amkgp 💬 18:13, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- Your close, or at least your explanation here, should have explained what weight you gave to !votes which clearly contradict WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT. You have not done so.
- The fact that an editor has a decade of experience does not give extra weight to a !vote which defies clear guidance. You responsibility as closer was to follow WP:RMCI ... but instead you have chosen to ignore it and cite WP:NOTBURO. A decision to ignore RMCI is bound to be controversial, so per WP:BADNAC you should have left that decision to an admin. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 19:15, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for cleaning up the new article. Also, thanks for removing the stub tag but why were the category tags also removed? Not a criticism just maybe I don't understand the rules for those. --Ian Korman (talk) 06:51, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- IanKorman, The article does not have any categories. I'll add if I find some and then remove the maintenance tag. ~ Amkgp 💬 06:54, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Shalinder Chauhan
Hello There @Amkgp: I just saw that you placed maintenance tag omn the page Shalinder Chauhan, as it wasn't cited, but I found some of the Rs and cited the page with a bit of Improvements would you mind having a look at it. Thanks Dtt1Talk 15:11, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Can you please point which part of the draft was plagiarised?
Dear Reviewer Amkgp,
Firstly let me thank you for your review of the submitted draft titled "Muhammad Khurram Khan". To the best of knowledge and following the guidelines, I have personally drafted the content except for the names of the awards and book titles authored by the subject (Prof. Muhammad K. Khan).
It would really be of invariable help if you can point out which part of the draft is plagiarised?

- NatWJames, I have found 'Awards and Honors' section. Others are acceptable. Just a proper reshuffling is needed I feel. Please go through this copyvio report. You will be able to figure it out. ~ Amkgp 💬 19:01, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. The mobile main page special casing stopped working 14 July. 60 wikis now have main pages that don't work well on mobile. You can see which ones, how to fix it and how to get help in Phabricator. This is the same problem that was reported in Tech News 2020/24 and 2020/26.
Problems
- There is a problem with the interlanguage links. The interlanguage links are the links that help you find a specific page in a different language. The sorting is broken. The developers are working on a solution. [1]
- Some users keep getting the notifications for the same event. Some of these are old events. [2]
- Some users have trouble logging in. This is probably a browser cookie problem. The developers are working on understanding the problem. If you have trouble logging in you can see the details on Phabricator. [3]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 July. It will be on all wikis from 23 July (calendar).
Future changes
- There is a
Printable version
link. This will disappear. That is because web browsers today can create a printable version or show how it will look in print anyway. [4]

Tagging of Suzy Lu
I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Suzy Lu. I do not think that Suzy Lu fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because There are several claims of significance here including the (sourced) scandals. An Afd might have a different result.. If you wish, you may try using the simple proposed deletion (PROD) process, or the full articles for deletion (AfD) process, instead.
I have sent you a note about a page you started

Devon Minchin Draft
Hi Amkgp
Thank you for reviewing my article "Devon Minchin". I understand that I have created two drafts and that one should be deleted to avoid confusion. Could you please advise which draft I should delete?
Many thanks
WilleeM (talk) 02:04, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- WilleeM, The duplicate Draft:WilleeM is already removed. You can proceed with Draft:Devon Minchin only. ~ Amkgp 💬 09:38, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Request
I have submitted a change to the page for the song "How Do I Live", citing a reference book that I have. Earlier you rejected the entry saying:
"please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The reference cannot be verified yet"
I resubmitted it with a little bit more information about the book, which is not online. It can be verified by contacting the author or book publisher, or viewing the Billboard magazine archives. Do you need anything else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4632mavis98x (talk • contribs) 00:10, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

- Kqwertygasdf, Well done but please provide reliable sources. YouTube is generally not considered a reliable source as per WP:YTREF ~ Amkgp 💬 10:37, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Amkgp, The Youtube reference is from a verified channel account. They do not seem to have the article posted on their site. Isn't the Youtube verified official channel reference still valid?---kg (talk) 11:02, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kqwertygasdf, Its better to avoid them, anyways as you say
They do not seem to have the article posted on their site
, i would suggest to add a few more ref if you discover anytime later. Also, remove the 'Time Of Dharshanam' and 'How to reach' section as Wikipedia is WP:NOTGUIDE and also they look like WP:PROMOTIONAL content. Regarding review I leave it to the next reviewer. Hope it will be reviewed soon ~ Amkgp 💬 11:12, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Starter kit is now available for wiki communities. This page lists technical resources, tools, and recommendations. These are essential to operate a wiki project. This is mostly useful for smaller wikis where the community has limited experience with this. [5]
- The first features of the Desktop Improvements project are available for logged-in users on all wikis. In order to use them, uncheck Use Legacy Vector in your local or global preferences in section Skin preferences. More improvements are planned. Feedback is welcome.
- On multiple wikis, a UTCLiveClock gadget is available. For wikis that import the gadget directly from mediawiki.org, end users can now choose a different timezone to show instead of UTC.
Problems
- The deployment train for MediaWiki has been blocked this week. [6][7]
- Translation Notification Bot was sending the same message multiple times to every translator. This has been fixed. [8]
- Some users were receiving the same notification multiple times. This has been fixed. [9]
