- Goldsztajn She is notable according to criteria 1 and 8 of WP:PROF. The references make it clear. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 04:37, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi. I think the criteria for 1 is not demonstrated at all; three reviews of the same single decade-old text do not show "a significant impact", neither does one reply piece. Happy to concede there's a stronger argument for criteria #8, although they've only been co-editor for less than a year and "well-established" means more than just age alone. FWIW, I didn't WP:PROD the article deliberately, because my sense looking at it on face value was that it passed, however, being a stub means it is harder to reach that conclusion. I'd recommend further sourcing and expansion so that there's more conclusiveness demonstrating their significant impact (less book reviews and more engagement by others with their work) and how the BJHP is regarded as a "well-established" journal. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Pirhayati! Your additions to Kyung-Ho Min have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 23:06, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- The "Life" section you added was too closely phrased to the source. I've bolded the overlap:
- "
A son of a lawyer, Min grew up in Onchun, North Korea. He started his Martial Arts career in judo, practicing during junior high school and high school. Min trained in taekwondo in the military and in the Korean War served as a member of the Korean Special Services. Min was a student of physical education at Yong-In University in Seoul and continued his graduate studies at the University of Georgia. He has taught Taekwondo and Judo in the United States.

Thank you for creating Jacob M. Held.

- Whiteguru Hi. It seems that you are not familiar with the notability of academics. The reviews are not "primary"; they show that the scholar has been recognized by the peers and that his/her works are important in that field. Also, she has been a "distinguished" professor which clearly shows notability according to WP:NACADEMIC. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 05:43, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Copying from ORCID
[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you have inserted Creative Commons licensed text into Wikipedia, as you did at Glen M. Davis. You are welcome to import appropriate Creative Commons licensed content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Compatibly-licensed sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any Creative Commons content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

- @Pirhayati: I came across this Afd when I left the message above. I was planning to add to the discussion with a clear keep. The decision at Afd was to keep this article. The article was generally updated by User:David Eppstein who added a number of book reviews, so the Afd would pass on WP:NAUTHOR, at the least. I think it is probably worth examining it to see how it passed as that may help with structuring of new article, in the future. I hope that helps. scope_creepTalk 09:58, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Possible inadvertent copyvio

- Hi again. I think this is a case of inadvertent copyvio. The site you copied from has the appropriate CC language, but they might not have the right to use that CC language. The professor's university page, which is copyrighted, also has the same language. I've left the above template only because it's required. Hence this more personal message. Sorry to disturb you twice in such a short time, but I figured I'd let the good folks who know a lot more about copyright issues deal with it. I had a brief discussion with an admin who does a lot of copyvio work, which you can find at User talk: Diannaa#Catherine Best. Again, if this is a true copyvio, I firmly believe that it was completely inadvertent on your part, as your citation of orcid.org show. All the best. Onel5969 TT me 15:47, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

Suggest slowing down
[edit]I think you might be going too fast to be careful. Consider Alexander Myller. The only source you included in the article pointed to another mathematician entirely. Better to slow down and make sure you get it right so others don't have to clean up errors behind you. agtx 22:21, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Agtx The source does not have to be precisely about the subject. The source I provided clearly shows the significance of the subject and can be used in the entry: "... join the studies of the school of geometry in Iasi led by the academicians Al. Myller and O. Mayer. These results were intensely quoted by famous mathematicians..." Ali Pirhayati (talk) 03:38, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Right, so that's WP:SYNTH. It doesn't support the sentence you cited it for, which was "He is known for his substantial contributions to Differential Geometry." The page you cited said that Popa was known for those contributions, and you extended it to Myller. Again, just slow down a little bit and make sure your statements and citations are accurate. Creating lots of low-quality stubs with errors isn't really helpful. agtx 04:12, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Agtx There is no "errors". In worst case, it is a correct sentence without a source. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 04:31, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi, You say that notability is evident, but if it was, I wouldn't have tagged it. To save us the hassle of an AFD, perhaps you can indicate how this person meets WP:ACADEMIC or WP:GNG? --Randykitty (talk) 13:49, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Randykitty Hi. No, I prefer AFD. You are constantly (and wrongly) undoing my edits and this is not helpful. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 14:04, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- You'll have to give your arguments in an AFD in any case, so why not convince me now and be done with it? --Randykitty (talk) 14:07, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Convincing is based on a (relatively) common mentality. We don't have this. I have tried before and it was a failure. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 14:13, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

Arzoo Osanloo moved to draftspace
[edit]Hey Pirhayati an article you recently created, Arzoo Osanloo, is not suitable as written to remain published. As the article is now the subject isn't notable, but I do believe they might be with some additional work. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Philosophy of death
[edit]Any objections to merging philosophy of death into philosophy of life? I suppose they are subtly different, but as both articles are fairly short I think it's okay to treat them together. If the death section becomes too big it can always be moved out. Ovinus (talk) 17:30, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

- Hi, I've moved this into drafts, because a single source, once cited, is nowhere near enough to verify even a short stub like this. It also cannot establish notability, and even if the person is notable by some means other than GNG — eg. NACADEMIC — we need to see reliable sources to corroborate that. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:24, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Ways to improve Conduct: An Introduction to Moral Philosophy
[edit]Hello, Pirhayati,
Thank you for creating Conduct: An Introduction to Moral Philosophy.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
Thanks for this article on an interesting book. However, I don't think the current sources are sufficient to establish notability. Ref 1 covers the author in one page, but only trivially mentions the book in one sentence (it's also listed in the bibliography of the author), and is inadequate to count as WP:SIGCOV per GNG or a
non-trivialper WP:NBOOK criteria 1. However, ref 2 is a full review that counts as one source towards GNG or NBOOK criteria 1. Nevertheless, multiple sources are required, unfortunately, my search did not find sources, however, given the book's age there are probably JSTOR/Proquest refs, if you could provide more refs it would be great!

The article Amirhossein Sahebkar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
He has many citations but most of them are co-authored with many people (see Google scholar) and it is unclear how significant his contributions actually are. The page does not mention any particular significant contribution. The only non-primary reference is a list of people with the most citations where he was placed 2843rd. The list is not live, but it is archived).
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bendegúz Ács (talk) 10:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Publons awards recipients

The article Catherine Lord (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:31, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
The Review of Islamic Studies moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to The Review of Islamic Studies. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and WP:NJOURNAL, a database entry is not sufficient to show notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Broc (talk) 15:35, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

- Hi. No it does not need more sources. The library holdings show notability according to WP:Prof. Ali Pirhayati (talk) 07:26, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
