How do I create an article?? --Darwadls (talk) 08:55, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Darwadls Note that creating new articles is not beginner friendly, so I really recommend you start with simpler edits, such as those suggested at your newcomer homepage, and work from there. If you really want to continue, try taking a look at Your First Article - it's the most beginner friendly guide to creating new articles. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 13:54, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from Sumo Wrackler (18:51, 24 October 2024)
[edit]Hi! Do you know when I should add links, and when it's unnecessary? Also, why are my links a purple colour? --Sumo Wrackler (talk) 18:51, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
Question from Sumo Wrackler (19:43, 24 October 2024)
[edit]About links again, why don't people link countries, but they do cities and other things? --Sumo Wrackler (talk) 19:43, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Sumo Wrackler to answer both of the above questions, you can read Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking to see what should and should not be linked. Your browser might make a link purple for you if you already visited it before. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 21:07, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

[edit]How to insert image --300000kmpersecond (talk) 11:31, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
- 300000kmpersecond if the image you are trying to add is not uploaded, see WP:File upload wizard. Note the restrictions on file uploads are very strict to comply with CC-BY-SA. Once it is uploaded see Help:Images to insert it on the page. Hope this helps. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 14:17, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

Question from Sunilkathasaritasagar (12:50, 2 November 2024)
[edit]Hi, Sungod. Thanks for turning out as Metor here. I would like to create a page on Guru Atmananda, a spiritual and wellness guru, an MBBS who for two decades has grown a small dedicated following among urban citizens, mainly in Delhi and Mumbai.
I have some material about Guru Atmananda (real name Prakash C) that can form the published links as defined in Wiki guide on creating pages.
Question- 1.I wish to start with a three para page on Guru Atmanada 2. Will keep adding info on it later, after a few days 3. where do I start 4. I have exactly three indepedent links on which his info can be sources- an magazine article, his website and three youtube channel. --Sunilkathasaritasagar (talk) 12:50, 2 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sunilkathasaritasagar You can start by creating a draft to slowly embellish the article. Note that his website is not independent, a YouTube channel is generally not reliable, and a magazine article may or may not work (depending on which magazine, etc.). Make sure you have 2-3 high quality sources which are independent, reliable, and in-depth to establish notability for your subject. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 03:55, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Dan from hu (08:39, 8 November 2024)
[edit]Hi Sungod! I'm working on an article about a book. Could you point out what needs improving? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dan_from_hu/sandbox Thank you in advance. --Dan from hu (talk) 08:39, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Dan from hu the most important thing when writing an article, especially as a newcomer, is making sure the subject is notable. To this end, references should be independent, reliable, and in-depth. It appears both of the references you have cited are not independent, so you should look for 2-3 sources that pass the three guidelines I mentioned. Once you have those, you can start thinking about how your article will be written. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 15:19, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the feedback! Have a nice day! Dan from hu (talk) 08:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Question from Mulumba2024 (08:10, 15 November 2024)
[edit]Hi, I hope this message finds you well. My name is Mulumba Nasiifu, and I’ve been working on editing the biography for John Teira on Wikipedia. I’ve been assigned as your mentee, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with you.
I would appreciate your guidance in addressing some of the comments and suggestions made regarding the article. As this is my first time navigating these processes, I look forward to learning from your expertise and ensuring that the biography meets Wikipedia’s standards.
I would appreciate to provide me with some insights on how to perfectly address the issues in this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Teira --Mulumba2024 (talk) 08:10, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Mulumba2024 Hello, and sorry for the late reply. I don't see any issues on the article you linked. Is there anything specific that you want me to take a look at? Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 16:02, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Someone reviewed my article and was able to address the issues. Mulumba2024 (talk) 05:56, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
Question from MileenaG on Talk:Kenite hypothesis (15:03, 17 November 2024)
[edit]I’ve never edited a wiki but want an obvious error fixed. The page I was on says “Critical examination of the Book of Genesis narrative of Moses meeting Jethro…” but obviously Moses is not mentioned in the book of Genesis (rather it should say Exodus). I keep running into obvious errors like these but no one seems to be flagging or fixing them so I thought maybe I should learn how to help. Can you teach me how to bring an editor’s attention to an error and maybe even how to edit them myself? Thank you. --MileenaG (talk) 15:03, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- MileenaG You can always use the associated talk page or a noticeboard of a relevant WikiProject to bring attention to any problems in an article. To correct such an error yourself, just edit the page directly, making sure to add a citation where needed. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 16:05, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I’m wondering there is a company called Audio.is (legal name - Audio ehf) and I was wondering if there is a way to suggest adding it to Wikipedia cause it’s the biggest Car Audio shop here in Iceland? And it’s really popular --LeoAudio (talk) 12:28, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- LeoAudio Note that creating new articles is not beginner friendly, so I really recommend you start with simpler edits, such as those suggested at your newcomer homepage, and work from there. If you really want to continue, try taking a look at Your First Article - it's the most beginner friendly guide to creating new articles. Also, are you being paid to create this article? Question from FergusArgyll (18:42, 27 November 2024)
[edit]I found a source for a stub that was previously unsourced. Upon reading the source, it seems like the Wikipedia text is almost identical to the source. I've tried looking at Wikipedia's copyright rules but they're quite confusing. If this is a violation I'm assuming the whole article would need to be deleted/rewritten?
You can see my edit here (follow the citation I added to see the books text) https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Balloon_clock&diff=prev&oldid=1259902016 --FergusArgyll (talk) 18:42, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- FergusArgyll if there is just one sentence copied, it's probably not an issue. In fact, it is more likely that the book copied the Wikipedia article, since the sentence has been in the Wikipedia article since 2005, and the book was published in 2015, in which case it is better to delete the reference and post on the talk page as citogenesis.
- If there was a copyright violation on a Wikipedia article, any part that was copied should be removed, and revision deletion should be requested on any offending versions of the article. Only if the entire article is copied should it be deleted. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 03:51, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Question from VicKassie21 (19:28, 28 November 2024)
[edit]hi sungodtemple, thanks for offering to help. Maybe I didn't save it properly? or........? thank you --VicKassie21 (talk) 19:28, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- VicKassie21 did you mean Draft:Oaklands neighbourhood, city of Victoria? Just as a note, please use wiki markup in the draft, to be consistent with other Wikipedia articles. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 17:08, 29 November 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! How do I start editing articles on my desires Niche? And how can I have my profile listed here? Thanks k you Mentor. --OmotolaBES (talk) 20:59, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
- OmotolaBES, you can check your newcomer homepage which can suggest articles to edit, and also teach you editing concepts along the way. For your second question, since Wikipedia is not for advertising, you wouldn't be able to 'list' your 'profile'. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 00:43, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

Question from Bird.budReal (00:56, 14 December 2024)
[edit]can I make a Wikipedia page please --Bird.budReal (talk) 00:56, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Please address your block. As long as you are trying to contribute to Wikipedia, then you should be fine to create pages. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 03:23, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Hello! I was wondering if you could help me with creating a Wikipedia Article for a local band I know. --VCBrennan (talk) 18:14, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- VCBrennan is this about Draft:Violet Courtyard? Please read the comment the reviewer left you - it doesn't seem like they meet notability criteria, so it was declined. You need to work on establishing notability for the band.
- Creating articles is an extremely difficult task, which is why it is recommended to start by contributing in smaller ways and learning Wikipedia's unique policies and guidelines. Special:Homepage might be able to give good recommendations. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 22:27, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
how do you write an article and post it, i dont see the button for it --Goofsabut (talk) 02:22, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Goofsabut to edit, there is a button at the top of the page. What it looks like depends on whether you are on mobile or desktop. I would advise against creating new articles, since as a new user you probably don't understand all of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and you have a higher probability of failure. Instead, I recommend you start with easier edits, like those suggested at Special:Homepage, and work your way up to tasks like article creation.
- If you really want to create an article, instructions are at Help:Your first article. You should read the entire page and understand that creation of new articles is not an easy task. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 03:48, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
