Czech people of German descent

Hi Vejvančický Thanks for the correction. But as we do know that many German surnames live in Czech. The pattern surnames is not from our language. Even with no special meaning in ours. We do believe that their ancestors should came from German ethnics who had lived in Czech land for centuries in the past. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gladynova (talkcontribs) 03:55, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Gladynova. Yes, many people in the Czech Republic have German surnames, however, it is often difficult to prove or trace their German descent and it is inappropriate to add the category to biographies of living individuals, when the only evidence we have is a German sounding surname. My grandmother was born Reiter-ová, but her parents and grandparents spoke Czech and considered themselves Czech, so I can hardly tell she is "of German descent" just because she had German sounding surname. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 07:05, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Articles subject to deletion

Can you please delete my articles that I created from the names you mentioned? I don't want to waste my time. Bear my patience please. Thank you. Raymarcbadz (talk / contribs) 15:10, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Okay, but I don't know if they will replace it with "Rate this page", because finding a solution would be based on anyone's suggestions from the feedback tool. Raymarcbadz (talk / contribs) 15:18, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Czech presidential election, 2013, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hague Tribunal (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Well it wasn't really accidental - I thought all main pages could have sandboxes attached. John of Cromer in China Philippines (talk) mytime= Tue 20:09, wikitime= 12:09, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

No, the pages that are created without prefix are still in the mainspace and might confuse readers (there's no place called "Bantayan Island/sandbox"). You should create sandboxes in your user space. Lampiões

Why did you write «Portuguese media sometimes call fans of S.L. Benfica "lampiões"» when that is false? BenficaNNossaPaixao (talk) 14:32, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

I provided reliable sources, BenficaNNossaPaixao. I don't want to insult supporters of your club, I just want this to be properly discussed. Please, continue at WT:FOOTBALL. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 14:36, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
What "reliable sources"? Even if they are reliable sources those words were used to describe the rivalry between Benfica and Sporting, the words weren't used to describe the fans. The articles about the derby don't make the offenses right. It's very simple. BenficaNNossaPaixao (talk) 15:35, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
The sources referred to the clubs and to their fans as to "lagartos e lampiões", see [1] (Expresso), [2] (Placar). --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 16:01, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Dario Seixas

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dario_Seixas Why was this page deleted? It had no copyright infringement as claimed and this person has played in 3 multi-platinum bands. Please re-store this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.176.82.49 (talk) 18:34, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

The revision I deleted was completely copied and pasted from http://seixas.com/ which is not allowed without permission of the owner of the text. However, I've noticed that previous version of the article was deleted in September 2012 with the rationale "No independent notability". The deleted article stated that Seixas played with multiple notable bands ([3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8]), which may be enough to meet our notability requirements (WP:MUSICBIO No. 6: "...a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles"). We can discuss it further with the deleting admin nad possibly achieve undeletion. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 09:24, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
I know the current band he is in, is on an ongoing legal battle and there has been some Wikipedia changes made by the other side. Please correct to the previous version and un-delete it. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.176.82.49 (talk) 22:40, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
The deletion of this article has nothing to do with "an ongoing legal battle". It was deleted for lack of independent notability, in the spirit of the rules of Wikipedia. I can't restore the article arbitrarily, I can ask the deleting admin (User:Explicit) if s/he agrees with undeletion, but I think the best option would be to take it to WP:UNDELETE and discuss the encyclopedic suitability of the topic properly. Shouldn't we remove the {{g8}} tag? It's cofusing and another admin could delete it just because s/he can miss the category and your hidden comment, as I did. The other pages in the Category:Wikipedia orphaned talk pages that should not be speedily deleted don't have combined {{db-g8}}/{{g8-exempt}} templates. Or do you want to wait just a while? --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 16:33, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I've noticed it's back. The creator seems to be Marketing & Production Assistant in the company. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 16:47, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes I am, however let me make it clear, this page is being made not marketing, I am only trying to provide history and detail. It is being made difficult to provide the information and try to build the page when I am scoping the web for content to help build background. I can tell you I have been here for two years and I have been quite confused as to why this page hasn't already been created, so I am taking the initiative to create it myself. Not for promotional interests of the company. Thank you. S.clouthier (talk) 17:17, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, the deleted version was heavily promotional. The new one is better. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 16:57, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
As it had been said before deletion, that the information provided was from official press releases from the company, as I thought that using it to help build initial structure wouldn't be deemed copyright infringement. However, there is good/important information in it such as opening year, origin and industry. I appreciate the editing that has happened to help build upon the skeleton put in place, but I want to put in detailed information about our history without it being looked at as "oh he's just trying to promote the company" as that is invalid assumption. If you can give me actual personalized help regarding structure without bias using information let me know. But as stated, this company is more than prominent as the references I have now already provided state, some of which even include in the articles written by third parties without commission that the company is one of the largest in the industry. Gardner-White also owns the trademarks "Big Picture Package" and "Best Sleep Guarantee". Using archive.org as a tool, the web can speak for itself that prior to Gardner-White's "Big Picture Package" the furniture industry did not ever include any form of electronics. Now retails as large as Ashley Furniture Homestore and Rooms to Go, Roomstore & Art Van now sell furniture with included electronics. S.clouthier (talk) 17:17, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I too think the company is notable. Please, use only third party sources and stay neutral. Thanks for your understanding. I (and maybe others) will watch the article nad help if needed. Feel free to ask me if you need any help. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 17:21, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I no longer see the article, has it been deleted now? If so, why? I also found some helpful information to give a more solid time frame as to when the original TV bundle started from us, via [10] June 2009. S.clouthier (talk) 17:33, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
No it's still here, see Gardner-White Furniture. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 17:37, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Jewels

Zdravím, User:In ictu oculi mi vás doporučil (asi jako zkušenýho wikipeďáka:). Co si myslíte o změně názvu z Czech Crown Jewels na Bohemian Crown Jewels? Já bych řek že se to dá přeložit do obojí, ale světově jsou známé jako Czech Crown Jewels, proto se přiklánim spíš k tomu. Zatim jsem tam přidal aspoň: also called the..
S pozdravem, Jirka.h23 (talk) 09:19, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Jirka.h23 (talk) 07:50, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
No, Google odkazuje k Bohemian crown jewels cca 1 050 000 linky a k Czech crown jewels asi 181 000, takže těžko říct.

Hello Curiouznick97. Your article was repeatedly deleted in accordance with Wikipedia notability guidelines, and is now protected against recreation. It is now at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Nicholas Merkerson, but I don't think it would be accepted. Please, note that Wikipedia is not a list of all actors or singers in the world, subjects included in this encyclopedia must be notable and their notability must be backed up by reliable and independent sources (Twitter and IMDb aren't considered as such). In my opinion, Nicholas Merkerson is not a notable actor in Wikipedia terms, but I'll let the submission to be reviewed by an independent editor. I wish you good luck and I'm sorry for your lost work. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 08:17, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

Hi, I saw you at WP:PERM in the autopatrolled section and I was wondering if you would take a look at my created articles and see what if anything I should do before I could be "trusted" with the "right" (I create almost all of my articles in either baseball or football and the only one sent to AfD was sent there by me...). This isn't a formal request for the right, I just appreciate any and all feedback I can get. Thanks! Go Phightins! 01:09, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

You created 23 well referenced articles since February 2011. What you said above is not entirely right: your article Aryanna Strader has been deleted in April 2012 (see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Aryanna_Strader), and another article survived an AfD in February 2011 (nominated by User:Paulmcdonald). But I have good impression from your other content contributions and I think you have learned how to properly create an article. The fact that you are a trusted editor active in many areas is another plus. I will assume good faith and assign you the user right as I don't think you'll misuse it. Please, continue your good work and be careful when creating new articles. Thanks for your contributions :) --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 07:53, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Oh. Forgot about those; those were both well before I had any clue what WP:GNG WP:N and whatever other alphabet soup acronyms thrown around at AfDs were :) Thanks. Go Phightins! 10:35, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Vejvančický, I need you to look at the article on Saura painting and tell me if I need to rework it, please. The DYK nomination has run into allegations of being a copy-paste job. Since you helped me with the article's referencing issues, would you please look at it again and tell me what you make of it? Ashwin147 (talk) 05:04, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid you need to rewrite the closely paraphrased parts in your own words, the reviewer is right. S/he provided several examples of close paraphrasing. I suggest you to follow his/her advice, rewrite the mentioned problematic passages and check out the whole article again to fix any possible plagiarism issues. After that, you should notify reviewers at your entry at T:DYK. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 07:11, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

About delition of two noname Iclanders

Hi, I'm an admin on the Icelandic wikipedia but not used to the English or proper conduct here. I am only correcting things her that we have being correcting on the Icelandic w and one of the things that we have being doing is deleting the page about Ólafur Hannesson (2 times) and Viðar Helgi Guðjohnsen because thay are no names in Iceland and this articles are only self promoting pages put in bay their friend for political promotion. Can you tel my where exactly I souled put in question about deleting of thees articles? You can look these gays up on the Icelandic wikipedia if you are not shour about if we think that thai ar notable, it was unanimously voted for deletion. Sorry for my English, I have dyslexia and can't lurn to write English properly. Thanks. Bragi H (talk) 13:27, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you, but I think I have found the info about how I should do this. Bragi H (talk) 14:28, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
I agree that sourcing of those articles is insufficient and the only claim to notability is thin. I declined mainly because the nomination of Ólafur Hannesson has been contested, see Talk:Ólafur_Hannesson. I suggested you to take the articles to AfD and explain your objections in a proper deletion discussion. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 18:34, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes I read about AfD and how it function and will use it if I proceed whit this. But I'm in no hurry and best to learn more before I ask for deletion of an article because that is a big question and should not be dun in my opinion unless necessary. But this articles have being well discussed on the Icelandic W and voted for deletion 2 times. This person is only promoting him self and his TV show, which have almost no vuving, to clime the ladder in his political party. And soon there will be an election her in Iceland so we are constantly fighting all kind of political propaganda her and deleting self promo articles. This article was brought to my attention and I asked if it should not be deleted from the English w as well as the Icelandic, I think so, but maybe someone whit better knowledge in the conduct on the English w should do it but me. Also because I'm not good in English. Bragi H (talk) 13:28, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Is it the Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn party[11]? He occasionally appears in the Icelandic media: [12] (Pressan), [13] (Dagblaðið Vísir), [14] (Morgunblaðið). The article is here from September 2009, so it is hardly a self-promo before the upcoming election. But I really can't say. I can't read Icelandic and I'm not familiar with the local political situation. Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 10:07, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes it is the Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn party, the TV where he run his show, usually people have to pay to have an show on that TV, but is not on a payroll, is a political TV on the side of Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn party. He is trying to get on the list for the Parliament election but is far from it now. But one day he may be and then it can be proper to have an article about him then. At the moment he is only a climber that is still low in the ladder but use the wikipedia article as an exemplar of how he is important, and I don't like wikipedia being used that way. It should be the other way around. He have gone wherry far on the Icelandic w, for example put his name under the article about the name „Ólafur“, on the list of famous people that bear that name. We have deleted all this. Bragi H (talk) 10:48, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
As I said before, I think that you should search for an independent assessment via WP:AfD. Deletion on Icelandic Wikipedia is not crucially important for the deletion process on this part of Wikipedia. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:28, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
The articles have been nominated for dletion by another editor, feel free to comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Viðar Helgi Guðjohnsen and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ólafur Hannesson. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 15:03, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

Jiří Bárta (composer)

Hello Vejvančický, There's a new English article on the Moravian composer Jiří Bárta. Do you have any additional information? Best regards. Hrdinský 15:01, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello Hrdinský, I'll take a look later, but I have to say that the article looks pretty complete! --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 05:50, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

FYI bro, just to let you know that I think this character Austin Nelson is a vandal-only account mate, he seems to have a thing about 'he pulls' etc and keeps adding it to the Battle of Waterloo page. Cheers! Basket Feudalist 14:32, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi bro. It seems that they stopped adding nonsense a while ago. I'll watch their contributions and warn/block if necessary. Thanks for letting me know. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 14:40, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for deleting the old userspace redirect to this page. When you get a minute, could you have a look at it? It is on a topic I'm not used to writing about.--Launchballer 14:32, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Hey I really hate shopping, Launchballer ... especially shopping with women is often a pure torture (that's just my subjective experience ... I don't want to look like a misogynist). I've noticed that many UK retailers have their "Value range" products. Does it make any sense to create a list of—possibly—all of them? --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 14:52, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
I like shopping on my own (yes, I am male and yes, I am straight), but I fully take your point about shopping with women. Just pick up a tin of beans, for Christ's sake, who cares if it's slightly dented.
Getting back to work, I think it's necessary to have one on the main ones. Many of the companies have their own brands and I think it's necessary to have a central article to avoid duplication.--Launchballer 14:59, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
:D not only it is slightly dented, but it has a lot of valuable information on the cover and women love to compare and think carefully about every item in the shopping cart ... and sometimes I have to participate, advice and remove the items from the cart, then put them back to the cart because you never know what would be the final decision ... and shopping is endless and I want to go home and ... okay, stop, uff :D
I know little about this topic, but I believe it is easy to determine the most important brands and products. Is there any official chart or table for the categories (I mean the sections "The big five", "Premium" etc.)? --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 15:24, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Well, I'd based it on Template:Supermarkets in the United Kingdom, forgetting that I'd moved the Co-op to 'convenience stores'.--Launchballer 16:32, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) As a Brit who studied in UK thus very familiar with the concept, I think there's a bit of original research in this article's sections, "the big five" says who? Is Coop a major supermarket now? But I think a sourced article could definitely be created. - filelakeshoe (t / c) 21:19, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I thought the same thing. The sections are partly based on the Template:Supermarkets in the United Kingdom, however, I miss any sources confirming the division of the article. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 06:13, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

I really don't see how it's appropriate to bring up crimes committed in the name of the ideology of communism. I'm about as opposite of communist as they come, but just because someone believes in the ideology doesn't mean they support people who have abused the form of government and committed crimes. I'd suggest removing that question, as it serves no good purpose and will only lead to problems. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:59, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

I didn't accuse the candidate of anything; I didn't associate the candidate with any crimes. There was no mention of candidate's support of communist crimes. I asked what do they think about it and I asked because their answer could reveal something about how responsive, perceptive and open the candidate is to unpleaseant questions. As an admin, sometimes you have to face unpleasant questions. The candidate decided not to respond at all. It is my right to ask, it is their right not to answer. How can this "lead to problems"? --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 06:47, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
I never said that you accused or associated him with anything. But simply asking the question and then not explaining why you asked it comes across as trolling or that you're looking for a fight. Inks.LWC (talk) 01:18, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ver...... what ever your name is. I am still waiting for an apology on why you could not let me write an biography. You are mean, rude, selfish and ill mannered. The only reason for me to forgive you is to write an biography. Sincerely, Lushaa PS. I will be waiting — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lushaa (talkcontribs) 11:06, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Loser Loser Ver.... You are an idiot — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lushaa (talkcontribs) 11:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Lushaa (or Yusuf), this website is an encyclopedia, and as such, it covers only notable subjects. It is quite different from Facebook or other social sites. I can't write your biography and you shouldn't write about yourself too. If you think you are notable (in Wikipedia terms), please provide reliable evidence supporting your claims. Thank you for your understanding. --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 08:45, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Franz

--just responding, I guess. I only make a few edits on wikipedia here and there. I looked up Franz during the election. I sometimes teach in Plzen (UWB) in the summers and know something about Czech, but not how to speak it much. Your article was informative for me.

Have a Zeman for me; na zdravi, Corey
