The Dumbarton Seamless Tube Company was based in the town of Dumbarton, Scotland. It was formed as a subsidiary of the renowned shipbuilding firm of William Denny & Brothers, to recover capital lost through investment in the failed venture Kosmoid Limited. The Company made steel tubes, mainly for supply to boilermakers and was eventually sold to the large boilermaking firm of Babcock & Wilcox Ltd to work in conjuction with its main manufacturing plant, which was relatively nearby, at Renfrew. The works at Dumbarton expanded through the first half of the 20th Century and included a separate factory for the manufacture of water and steam valves. However, these activities were ceased by the 1990s and the Dumbarton Works site was sold for redevelopment as a residential site. Diamond Power Speciality Ltd, a manufacturer of boiler soot-blowing equipment , which was at one time a partly-owned Babcock & Wilcox subsidiary, operated on the Dumbarton site until circa 2008 when the company moved to new premises in the nearby Vale of Leven.
