Mukesh Bhakar (born 20 November 1988) is an Indian politician. He is MLA from Ladnu of Nagaur district. He was also President of the Rajasthan Youth Congress.[1] [2] He represents from Ladnu in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly [3] since 2018 As a member of Indian National Congress [4]. Bhakar also served as state president of National Students Union of India from 2013 to 2015 [5], which is student wing of Indian National Congress party. He is elected state president of Rajasthan Shooting Ball Association also.

Early life

Mukesh Bhakar hails from a farmer, Jat family. His father Surjaram Bhakar served Indian Army as a Subedar. Bhakar completed his graduation and post graduation from University of Rajasthan. He was influenced by the ideology of Bhagat Singh at a very young age and was actively engaged in social political work even as a student.


Political life

Mukesh Bhakar fought election for the State President of National Students' Union of India in 2013 and won. [6]. He successfully organised Congress's Student Wing in the state. NSUI made come back after 12 years in largest University of Rajasthan under his leadership. after completion of his tenure organisation president nominated him National secretary. He contested his first election for Rajasthan Legislative assembly in 2018 for Ladnun assembly and won by a margin of 12947 votes to his closest opponent 3 times MLA Thakur Manohar Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party [7]. In feb 2020 Bhakar contested election for the state President of Indian Youth Congress, Rajasthan and won election his nearest rival Amardeen by 9872 Votes. According to political specialist he is next big thing of Rajasthan politics. The Indian National Congress on 14 July 2020, sacked Mukesh Bhakar as the Rajasthan Youth Congress President for his revolt along with Sachin Pilot against the party and its leadership [8]. The Rajasthan Speaker, C.P. Joshi, issued notices to 19 dissident Congress MLAs including Sachin Pilot and Mukesh Bhakar on 14 July 2020 after the Rajasthan Congress passed a resolution that they be disqualified from the state Assembly as they had defied a party whip to attend two Congress Legislature Party meetings. Pilot challenged this notice in the Rajasthan High Court on 17 July 2020. The High Court asked the Speaker to defer action on disqualification notices till 21 July 2020 [9] [10].
