Clean-up
[edit]Quote from Wiki Article:
- And he has a fetish about barrels that is bordering on total obsession! (We're serious. Try talking to him when he's staring at barrels, chances are he'll ignore you in favor of the barrels.)
The POV is incorrect for a wiki, the text seems to have been copy/paste, the views are not wikified, and who is "we" anyway? This problem occurs throughout. --Mystalic 07:08, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
More research should be done on when they "changed the names of the antagonists", because my US version definitely does NOT have them changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.107.191.72 (talk) 05:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Neutrality
[edit]I edited out the "Most people think he's useless" line from Bowman's description.Fllmtlchcb 20:01, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I'm editing all of the character descriptions to make them more relevant. I'm taking out the "who's better in combat" parts and focusing strictly on their descriptions.
- I helped out a bit, working backwards up to Ashton. It still needs a bit of work. Liu Bei 19:37, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Great work, Liu! The new description on Claude is much better, and the others are much cleaner now. :) Kudos. Fllmtlchcb 08:10, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Rehashed all the character information. Removed the remaining unsubstantiated and opinionated comments about weapons, armor, and character relationships, and concentrated on character description only. Also put in favorite foods/instruments. Was considering making a separate page for each character with more statistics, killer moves and weapons. Second opinion on this? Misuchan 05:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Against: This game isn't as popular enough to warrant that, and I don't believe there is enough information on each character to make it beneficial. Fllmtlchcb 01:45, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
For: Popularity does not dictate what can be put on wiki. There needs to be seperate pages as there's a wealth of information that should be said about these characters. What you deem as not popular enough is the exact opposite, as these characters have been featured in five major pieces: 2 games, 2 manga series, and an anime series. It makes a lot more sense to say all that needs to be said in one article for each character rather than cluttering each game page up with redundant information like histories and skills. I had originally started a page for both Claude and Rena, but had no internet access for two months. When I got back, someone had simply up and completely abolished the pages without a word.--Claude 02:58, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]I have tagged Star Ocean: The Second Story (manga) for merging to this article. Per the Anime and manga MoS, separate media versions should not have individual articles unless they are significantly different. As far as I can see, the manga (and its subsequent anime adaptation) use the same characters, plot, etc as the video game, just without actually being finished and having an ending. As such, there is no reason not to have the the two adaptations covered here, with appropriate links off to the anime episode list and manga chapter list, as available. Thoughts? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 06:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- The manga is pretty close to the game but the anime starts to vary wildly from the source material halfway through the series and introduces several characters, themes and subplots that don't exist in the game that become prominent from onward and into the Drama CDs. There are also some questionable changes to the plot (Expel isn't destroyed, from what I remember). I'm not sure if elaborating on the major differences would warrant keeping those separate, but they're certainly there if need be.--Claude (talk) 09:45, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'd still say to the point it goes up to, it follows it close enough, except in reguards to adding new characters. In that case, I'd suggest because of the importance some of the new characters play, that the when a character list is done for the 2, there is a section for anime only characters. Beyond that, a set of drama CDs released in Japan were suppose to finish the anime's story.Jinnai (talk) 19:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Many anime adaptations add new characters, modify themes, etc, but that isn't necessarily enough to warrant a new section. A brief differences section can usual take care of that unless its sharply/significantly different. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 20:15, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Actually it is. Any GA or above article has a separate section for any anime adaptations if the anime is worthy of notability. Beyond a separate episode list though (which is something that should be if we merge this as a separate list. Information on when and how the anime was produced is relevant, how it differs from the game (as has been pointed out) and any anything related to it (such as those drama CDs I mentioned). Furthermore, even if the game and anime remain separate, a short piece on the anime and a link to the article are still appropriate.Jinnai (talk) 22:16, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Still, a "List of Star Ocean media" article is essential, where all manga/anime/soundtracks related info from this article and other star ocean articles should be moved to. Punkalyptic (talk) 19:00, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Second Evolution merge
[edit]As is, Star Ocean: Second Evolution does not warrant a standalone article, as it can easily be integrated into the primary article. Jonathan Hardin' (talk) 08:43, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

How long did it take to make star ocean, And How many people it took to make the game?
[edit]I have looked on many websites all to see that no one gives out any info on how long it took to make the game, People give many other answers about different topics, but I never find the answer to my question. Does anyone else know? And also how many people it took to make the game. 104.153.187.165 (talk) 02:39, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- The interview here says that the actual development time took about 2.5 years and that they were planning the game ever since Star Ocean 1: https://shmuplations.com/starocean/.
- Also, this gives an estimate for development team sizes as well if you look at the tri-Ace section: https://www.mobygames.com/game/3834/star-ocean-the-second-story/credits/playstation/?autoplatform=true
