St Peter's Anglican Church, Onehunga → St Peter's Church, Onehunga – More WP:CONSISTENT with most other church article titles St Peter's Church, and is more WP:CONCISE The National Library of NZ doesn't use Anglican in the name: [1] nor does the secondary source I am using Traumnovelle (talk) 04:48, 21 November 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - That's not terribly concise, though. What about St Peter's, Onehunga, like St Matthew's, Auckland and St Paul's, Buckland? It also seems to be the diocese's official name for it, not that we necessarily use official names, but when a commonly used name is also official it makes for nice consistency. - There's admittedly not a completely consistent naming scheme for churches but St Peter's Church appears to be far more common than simply St Peter's and after reviewing that page it seems without the church qualifier it may imply something other than a church. I did title St Paul's, Buckland myself though without even considering that.
- I've asked WP:CHRIST about naming conventions for churches and will see what others say. Traumnovelle (talk) 07:14, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- The comment I got: [2] was very informative and I'm inclined to agree that, although neglecting the church modifier would be more concise it is also more vague. Traumnovelle (talk) 06:21, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- One thought I have about keeping the church modifier is Catholic schools - if someone told me they were going to St. Matthews, I'd immediately understand that they were meaning the church, but if they said St. Peter's, I'd assume it was the school. Prosperosity (talk) 20:57, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- But not if they said "St Peter's, Onehunga", surely. Nurg (talk) 21:31, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

- Support per nom. Prefer "Church" to be in there for clarity. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:18, 29 November 2024 (UTC)
