Brother

[edit]

According to one of the bio's on IMDB her brother was a homicide victim in LA. Anyone have any info on this? brob 13:14, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guy Broomfield, Shirley's brother, was murdered in 1999 in Walnut Creek, CA. I added some links to articles about it in the article. Checkingfax (talk) 00:11, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My family are related to Shirley Broomfield, she's a wonderful woman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.168.149.38 (talk) 11:35, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Birth date of brother

[edit]

If Ms Field was born in June 1938, how could she have a younger brother who was born in the same year (unless he was a younger twin or immensely premature)? AuntFlo (talk) 10:14, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's more likely, as is the case with a lot of actors who knock off a couple of years, that 1938 is her official year of birth rather than her actual one. Indeed the article is now saying she was born in 1936, though it doesn't appear to be sourced. Crisso (talk) 11:56, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Old Higsonian?

[edit]

Not sure of this breaches WP:BLP? Can a beer mat have copyright, haha? Martinevans123 (talk) 22:03, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted old link which now leads to a scamming website. Blurryman (talk) 22:50, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer at Aachen

[edit]

According to IMDb, she plays Francoise Costeaux in the 2013 movie Transfer at Aachen (i.e., not yet released), but we say it is a 2011 film.Kdammers (talk) 11:55, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And this site (http://www.myfilm.gr/5491.html) gives the year as 2010. does any-one really know what year it is? Kdammers (talk)

Photo

[edit]

Striking actress known for her red hair, but let's use a tatty image from a trailer of her in a black wig. yeah, OK 2604:6000:6D43:1C00:BC20:2231:BACA:B286 (talk) 03:02, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We can only use what has an appropriate Creative Commons Attribution licence. I can seen only one other at Commons, and that's this one, from 2014, which is already used lower down. Martinevans123 (talk)

Place of birth

[edit]

Has anyone else noticed a slight disparity between the place of birth given in the infobox (and also given currently at IMDb) and that given in text? The sources currently used in the text do not seem to be WP:RS. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:58, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An internet search quickly led to the two sources I've now referenced, along with the necessary edit of the article. Blurryman (talk) 22:48, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lead image

[edit]

Now that Field has died, is it possible to source a copyright image of her in her prime, under a fair use rationale? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:13, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Upstairs, Downstairs?

[edit]

I note the BBC obituaryfor Shirley Anne Field states she appeared in "popular TV series including" Upstairs, Downstairs, but IMDb would not seem to support this - I am assuming this is confusion with the 1959 film Upstairs and Downstairs hence why it is not mentioned in her roles here or on IMDb. Dunarc (talk) 22:06, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it looks like the BBC has got it wrong. But IMDb is not WP:RS and I suggest BFI would be a better source. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:17, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
