Encyclopedic content
[edit]Editors who edit school articles should familiarize themselves with the guidelines for these articles found at WP:SCH/AG.
Today I have removed a bunch of unencyclopedic content. Included in this is:
- names of students and faculty. The only faculty name we use outside of the infobox is the principal, either to identify the current principal or to provide a historic list of all principals. We never use student's names. The exception to the above are people who are notable. The best gauge of this is "Do they have a Wikipedia article about them?". It is a near certainty that there are no notable students currently at this school.
- Achievements. The only achievements we talk about are state or national championships by teams. We never talk about individual achievements at all. Championships need to be referenced to an independent source, not the school or the school district. Again, only state or national championships. Not regional contests, not invitational contests, not runners-up. Championships.
While not strictly about unencyclopedic content, we have a policy for all Wikipedia articles called WP:UNDUE. Basically, it says that coverage of a specific part of the whole subject of an article needs to be in proportion to the importance of that specific part of the subject to the understanding of the whole. I don't think the many achievements of the school's paper is all that important to understanding the school. Your mileage may vary. John from Idegon (talk) 02:46, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
