{{edit semi-protected}} Marist Brother David Austin Christian (born 3 December 1942), formerly principal of Marist Brothers' Newman College, Perth, Western Australia, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of aggravated indecent assault against two boys (aged 10 and 11) in the principal's office. When charged in 1994, Br Christian had been teaching at Port Hedland, W.A. In 1995, Christian was fined $10,500 ($1,500 per incident) but the Marist Order said it would pay the fine for him. Brother Christian moved to live with the Marist Brothers in Templestowe, Melbourne.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. The first link you give appears to likely be a reliable source, but all it verifies is Christian's prior state, that he received a "Non-Custodial Sentences for Sexually Abusing Boys" and the year of that receipt. The other two links are not relaible sources, as they as a forum and a self-published site. What we need are things like newspaper reports or the like that can verify this information. However, having said all of that, we would only include this information here if the sources verified that the assaults happened at Newman College. In other words, we need to show that this story is relevant to Newman College, not just relevant to someone who used to work there. Qwyrxian (talk) 02:26, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the removal of guilds/factions (diff)

Many school articles have their school houses listed, including, for example, one of the Australian School GA's (PLC) and many other Australian schools.

It's not mentioned in the "WNTI" section of WP:WPSCH/AG.

Qwyrxian: you're being overzealous. The section probably needs references, but tagging it as such is better than removing uncontentious information.

If many school articles have their houses listed, then I would be of the opinion that many articles need to have a good scrubbing. For me, information like that falls directly under WP:SCHOOLCRUFT. Yes, I know that it's an essay, but it's a short-hand way of dealing with the confluence of WP:NPOV (especially WP:UNDUE), WP:V, and WP:NOT. Unless those houses are in some way of importance to people outside of the school (if, for instance, the yearly competition were discussed in more-than-local sources), then I don't see how it fits an encyclopedia article. However, I am aware that I am often a bit more restrictive on what belongs in articles, so if a solid consensus forms (ideally, at WP:SCHOOL, so that it's not just local editors here), then I'm not going to fight it. In some schools the "houses" are a highly significant part of the life of the school and it would be bizarre not to mention them at all in an article about the school. In many other schools, they are of little or no consequence. I don't think a tiny list of just the names of the houses really does any harm. Endless discussion about the houses' perceived relative merits, or who won which year's inter-house cricket match, would be a different matter, and should certainly be deleted. -- Alarics (talk) 18:27, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

If there is some evidence that these houses are important, I suppose a list is reasonable, but, if so, it should probably be done in a basic prose list--using a big table gives a lot of prominence to these facts. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:10, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Establishment date

I was a student at Marist Brothers Senior College, which became Newman College. The 'Neman System' of schools was established in 1977, but Newman College came into existence in 1976. I'll find some documentation in support of this and change the page. Dougg (talk) 03:05, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
