This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Nelson D Cole was a Brigadier General, and many Brigadier Generals have wikipedia pages on them. Nelson D Cole also commanded a union regiment during the American Civil War, and was the commander of multiple battles during the American Indian Wars. I have cited the page about Cole to the book, Powder River Odyysey, which is written by David E. Wagner, who studied the Powder River Expedition for many years. The book includes many statements that Nelso D. Cole made. and In my opinion I have also seen Wikipedia pages of less important people. I respectivly ask that Nelson D Cole not be deleted.
If Nelson D. Cole is notable, then it should be possible to find multiple Reliable Sources to Verify his Notability. Your comments about other pages and 'less important' people carry little weight, please see Other stuff exists. It may be that there are pages about non-notable people on WP, and they are regularly deleted, (see Articles for deletion (Biographical) (AFD) over 200 BLP pages currently being discussed ) especially the ones that are biographies of new editors, or autobiographies by people with overly inflated ideas of their own notability. --220ofBorg08:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because (his cite on the material is accurate. I know this contributor, and he knows more about the Montana and Wyoming Indian Wars than most university professors. Furthermore, Nelson D. Cole was an important military leader during the 1860s US military expeditions against the Sioux and Cheyenne) --Siouxindianwar1876 (talk) 04:09, 13 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Verify. We still need Reliable Sources regarding Cole's Notability. Siouxindianwar1876 could be a world renowned historian, and THE Authority on Cole, but we have no way of knowing that. Unfortunatley, we can't take your word for it!--220ofBorg08:11, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
