Removed False Sentence

[edit]

It revolves around a King's courtesan, who falls in love with a poor boy, who drives a cart and pitying him leaves behind her precious jewels given by the king, but lands into trouble.

I removed this sentence because:

  • Vasantasena is not the King's courtesan.
  • Charudatta is not a poor boy, but a Brahmin who has lost his wealth.
  • Charudatta does not drive the cart, his son owns a clay cart, but wants a gold one.
  • Vasantasena does not leave her precious jewels, she leaves her noisy, gold jewelry with him while trying to escape from the King's brother-in-law.

I don't have sources, but I saw this play yesterday, and the sentence wasn't cited. The cited translation probably also makes this clear.

Wrong name

[edit]

Here, the name is mentioned as Mṛcchakatika, which is not the original sanskrit name of the play, but hindi(and english) name . The original name of the play is मृच्छकटिकम् / Mṛcchakaṭikam [1] (And NOT mr̥cchakaṭikā / मृच्छकटिका as mentioned here) So, someone please correct the very first sentence. Also, the different spellings as mentioned in the article is irrelevant and must be changed to: Mṛcchakaṭikam, Mrchchhakatikam, Mricchakatikam, Mrichchhakatikam etc.

Vasantha Sena (Malayalam Film)

[edit]

The 1985 malayalam film Vasantha Sena is not an adaptation of Mricchakatika. - Pradeep717 (talk) 10:04, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
