Choosing an image for the list

[edit]

@User:Pyxis Solitary, as you did with other pages, you removed the image I added, erased it, to use your words on the other page. You said "Why should he be selected as representative of this list? Adding images needs consensus. And if there are going to be images, it should be images of the CHARACTERS. And if it can't be based on everyone having a say -- it's best not done," come up with a better image. It shouldn't be hard to do. Here's a couple possible replacements I came up with, which could work:

There may be more here and here. Historyday01 (talk) 02:34, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Similar to my response in the List of bisexual characters in television talk page: this article is not about the sexual orientation or the gay (male) community. It's also not a list about gay actors or actors in general. This article is a list of television characters that are gay. If there is going to be an image included in the page it should be an image of a gay character in a television program because that's what the article is about. There are many character pages that contain an image of the character; some are screenshots but most are images from press kits promoting the program. Any one of these images about a character that is also gay can be used in this list to represent gay characters in a television program. Pyxis Solitary (yak). True, it isn't, but I think the second image I proposed about Sense8 could be a good one, without having an image of a specific character. But, I'll see if I can come up with a compilation of images of specific characters. Historyday01 (talk) 14:30, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"File:Sense8 fans in Nantes campaign for its renewal during Pride 2017.jpg" is a photo of a protest by fans -- not a photo of the character. It has no relevance for the purpose of this article which is about individual characters.
"File:Peter Paige +Oliver Feld.jpg" is a photo of actors associated with Queer as Folk at a publicity event -- it is not a photo of Peter Paige in costume and makeup as character Emmett Honeycutt. Again, not relevant for the list.
On the other hand, the image for Blaine Anderson, Oswald Cobblepot, John Cooper, Tom Friendly, Todd Grimshaw, Omar Little, Oscar Martinez, Marc St. James, Eric van der Woodsen, and Andrew Wells are images about the characters. Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 16:26, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think the Sense8 one could be good, but I can agree with you that an image of a specific character, or specific characters, would be better. Historyday01 (talk) 16:39, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of this Article

[edit]

Is a comprehensive list of this realistic nowadays even only in American television? I recommend this article be removed. 90.254.228.106 (talk) 19:58, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It exists because many editors have contributed to it. It serves an information purpose. (P.S. it is not limited to American television.) Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 11:03, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
