These two were connected to the Gambino Family not the Lucchese family. Nino Gaggi worked for the Gambimo Family. Roy Demeo was eventually a made man in the Gambino Family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.179.24.232 (talk) 00:50, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Given the comments by 73.179.24.232, and no support for the proposal by Vic49 over 3 years, I removed the stale merge template for no support - incidentally, also an incorrectly formulated merge (not tagged on List of Lucchese crime family mobsters). This close was reversed by John from Idegon, but it is unclear to me why; its seems that the association of the pair with multiple crime families, and the contents of the page, makes them independently notable (another reason not to merge). Any objections to closing this almost-3-years-old merge? Klbrain (talk) 22:06, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted your close because it was technically deficient. You left no link to the discussion you were closing on the page you removed the template from, you did not close the discussion here, nor did you leave the required template at the talk page of the article you removed the template from. John from Idegon (talk) 22:24, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If those are your only objections, then such matters are easily dealt with.Klbrain (talk) 22:30, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Perna

[edit]

Ralph Perna's $2.2 billion profit in such a short space of time in a limited area is hard to believe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.183.72.219 (talk) 10:07, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Loira French connection

[edit]

At the time of his arrest in 1973, the Cirillo / Papa / Alessi / Loria Organization, were named by Federal Agents at BNDD as one of the most profitable organizations in the nation. Their connections to organized crime families ran deep and were closely aligned to Carmine Tramunti and the Luchesse Family. (*The Pleasant Ave. Connection/David Durk) Loria 's area of operation was Long Island and from approx. 1968-1973, where he was known to federal agents as the islands top heroin supplier. (*Federal Reporter. #544) (Federal Supplement #563) (By Newsday: The Heroin Trail)

Removed from article needs to be re-written. --Vic49 (talk) 01:01, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removed "Born and raised in East Harlem, Tony Loria was a part of the East Harlem Purple Gang, from Pleasant Avenue. Already well established within the mafia and major heroin trafficking, he then moved to Beaumont Avenue in the Belmont section (also commonly know as "Arthur Avenue") of the Bronx, NY with his wife and 5 children, where his rise within the mob ranks continued. Art Loria, Anthony's son was a musician who recorded and performed with many nationally known marquee value entertainment acts such as The Belmonts, Larry Chance and the Earls, and The Doo Wop All Stars." Was removed no References. --Vic49 (talk) 22:07, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose on the grounds that they have independent notability through their activities outside of the Lucchese crime family, specifically with the Gambino crime family and the murder of DeMeo. Klbrain (talk) 07:09, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal Peter Chiodo

[edit]

I propose that Peter Chiodo be merged into this article. Chiodo is not known for a major criminal case and needs more references and he could have his own section detailing his criminal activities within the Lucchese crime family and becoming an informant.--Vic49 (talk) 23:57, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: assassination attempt and role as a witness is sufficient (with sufficient media coverage) for independent notability. Klbrain (talk) 14:45, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Merger The attempted assassination of him is covered in a number of articles Wikipedia:Content forking. He can be added into this article. --Vic49 (talk) 14:57, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fair point; objection withdrawn; happy for the merge to proceed. Klbrain (talk) 06:13, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal Christopher Furnari

[edit]

I propose that Christopher Furnari be merged into this article. Furnari article is needs more references and he could have his own section detailing his criminal activities within the Lucchese crime family.--Vic49 (talk) 00:05, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose on the grounds that there is enough referenced material to support independent notability. The intended target is already at 170k, so is also WP:TOOBIG. Klbrain (talk) 06:51, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Merger I agree the article is Too big of unreferenced information of Furnari life. The article is off topic on the individuals notability and contains information mention in the main article about the Lucchese crime family and many other articles. I'm suggesting merging the referenced facts of Furnari's life into this article as a section. --Vic49 (talk) 14:20, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Objection withdrawn; as discussed elsewhere we're not using size-only as an objection on this set of proposals. Feel free to go ahead with the merge. Klbrain (talk) 06:22, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on all the mergers

[edit]

As per WP:SUMMARYSTYLE and WP:SIZE I have a hard time seeing how additional mergers of non stub articles can be justified. To me it seems like way to many mergers have already been performed without any discussion leading to serious readability problems. Trialpears (talk) 13:47, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this "list" is problematic for a number of reasons. Why isn't the founder Gaetano Reina listed here? Indeed, from this list it appears that there isn't a single member notable enough to have a {{main}} biography of them. This should be better integrated with Lucchese crime family § Historical leadership and Lucchese crime family § Current family members. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:11, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The listed above Lucchese crime family mobsters would fit in the topic of this article. Not every mobster or gangster meets WP:PAGEDECIDE requirements of a standalone article. The above mentioned articles have limited contributions or article referenced improvements for years Wikipedia:Reliable sources. The articles have also been subject to countless acts of vandalism Wikipedia:Vandalism. The articles above have stayed unreferenced for years, while the individuals of each article have been accused of criminal actions with no referencing (Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Crime victims and perpetrators). Not all criminals meet the notability (WP:FAILN) standards. The Lucchese crime family article is too big to add this article or any other articles into the main page. This article and this list is about members of Lucchese family who have been convicted of criminal crimes with references from reliable sources. --Vic49 (talk) 14:11, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
From my quick look through the articles currently nominated for mergers all of them except for Jackie DiNorscio (which I probably would support merging), have suitable references mostly consisting of New York Times articles and published books. These sources indicate to me that they pass the notability requirements and could very well have stand alone articles. The more important question is how we best should present it.
Personally, I feel like we should go all out with WP:SUMMARYSTYLE, adding all 41 members listed in the category to this page with a small entry similar to the lead of the article and using {{main}} link to the individual article. This would also requireing unmerging/spliting out a lot of sections of this article. It would be a large job, but I feel that an editor as dedicated as Vic49, who have been working on the article for years could perform this task.
Even if we decide not to go with my proposal I feel like items on the most notable members should also be added to this article. As it stands now the article does not contain information about the people readers are most likley to be looking for. Trialpears (talk) 19:36, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I stand by my opinion to keep this article the way it was created to add Lucchese mobsters who don't meet Wikipedia standards for notability. The proposed articles to be merged should be read completely, they are not referenced correctly and have been vandalized for years. I've read countless books and news articles about this topic the "Lucchese crime family". The articles that have been merged into this article have been greatly improved and correctly referenced with details to that specific individuals criminal life. A reference to one New York Times article does not cover the entire criminal career these mobster have had and would not pass Wikipedia standards for notability. Vic49 (talk) 20:51, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose more merges in on the grounds of WP:SIZE. Current article is at 182k, which is almost double the guideline threshold for splitting pages (WP:SIZERULE). Can I suggest that we close the extant 2017 proposals, and then interested editors reduce the size to less than 100k before proposing merges in. Klbrain (talk) 08:51, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Stand by the mergers of the listed articles; but splitting this article "List of Lucchese crime family mobsters" into two articles per WP:Size standards I would agree to the following the: the first article would be this article containing all current members of the Lucchese crime family (who don't meet the requirements for there own standalone articles. The second article would contain all past (inactive) members of the Lucchese crime family, who have been killed, died or became informants (who don't meet notability). The above listed articles up for mergers would be added into either the active members article or the past (inactive) members article. Vic49 (talk) 17:56, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Would strongly support this. I still believe we should have individual discussions for each merger though and I still believe some of them are unnecessary, but I would no longer oppose just based on size issues. Trialpears (talk) 18:32, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK; happy to discuss individual cases based on arguments not related to size, then merge those not independently notable into larger article which can then be split as described. Klbrain (talk) 07:11, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok all agree. No more mergers until the article can be properly divided into two article. I will begin working on the process. Then will have individual discussions for each mobster moving forward. Vic49 (talk) 21:16, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Split the article see List of past Lucchese crime family mobsters which is for all past members. Vic49 (talk) 16:35, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
