Other schools
[edit]P.S. 174 is another elementary school that is zoned for Forest Hills - even though the school itself is located in the Rego Park Cresents. I know this is fact because I grew up in Forest Hills and I went to P.S. 174. [00:50, April 18, 2006 68.161.156.112]
P.S. 144 is also a great elementry school. It goes through sixth grade (a little more time to think about middle school!) and it features many residencies. I went there as a child, and in fifth grade, we participated in a ballroom dancing programming curtisy of the work of Pierre Dulaine. [01:33, October 28, 2006 AttackedByCats]
Unsourced material original research
[edit]I remove a wee bit of unsourced original research material and will do more. I lived on Queens Blvd for 5 years not that it matters. Maybe I should add that St. Garcia's mex restaurant rules even though the 5 borough(sp) ain't bad either :) --Tom 19:35, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

SpiderMan?
[edit]Why is SpiderMan listed under notable residents? He is a fictional character. It would be like saying in a Philadelphia article "Rocky Balboa also lives here".162.136.192.1 (talk) 22:08, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Imho Spiderman should be listed. This is why I even looked up this place because it was mentioned in spiderman. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.215.35.45 (talk) 04:40, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- In regards to these sections, we are talking about real people.
- Also I think the media sets Spidey in Flushing.

Demographics
Forest Hills is not 0.46% and 5.0% hispanic, it is much higher than that, these statistics are wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jro660 (talk • contribs) 18:05, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Article renamed
[edit]The article was just renamed from "Forest Hills, Queens" to "Forest Hills (Queens)". That does not really make sense for New York City, since neighborhoods are commonly referred to in exactly the previous way. In addition, some neighborhoods are U.S. Postal Service "cities", such as "Flushing, NY", "Long Island City, NY", etc. The USPS does not use "Queens, NY" in any address, if I recall correctly. And of course "New York" can mean both the city and the state. Due to these complications, New Yorkers have a time-honored way of naming these neighborhoods, the simple comma version, by borough. So in this case, the article has been renamed from a common name to an obscure name with parentheses.
The vast majority of the 100 articles in Category:Neighborhoods in Queens are named the previous way.
The policy stated for this move in the edit summary is WP:NCGN. Contrary to this move, it states a "principal of the most common name". Was there another discussion? -Colfer2 (talk) 08:11, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- The guideline states that census-designated places (CDPs) follow the comma guideline, and that neighborhoods within cities do not, unless disambiguation is needed. Forest Hills isn't a CDP. The purpose of the convention is to keep article names as simple as possible. "Forest Hills" would have sufficed, except that there's more than one Forest Hills. The guidelines seem to suggest that "Placename, State" is acceptable to disambiguate a place that's not a CDP. Do you prefer Forest Hills, New York? --Bsherr (talk) 16:21, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm the administrator who moved the article, but I renamed it based on a request from Bsherr. It seemed like a reasonable move to me. If there's a consensus to reverse the move, by all means undo it. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:29, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- Queens in this context doesn't really mean anything to anyone outside of New York City, in my opinion. Queens is a county within New York City. Forest Hills is a neighborhood of New York City that happens to be in Queens County. I personally prefer Forest Hills, New York as I think it is more informative to someone outside New York City who doesn't know what Queens is. Unmasked (talk) 21:35, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- I concur with Unmasked. Forest Hills, New York is unambiguous, more helpful to someone not familar with the area, matches local usage, and causes no confusion. All the Queens articles should really be named this way. Jd2718 (talk) 15:00, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Map? Borders?
[edit]I think this article could use a map. I'm also not clear about where the borders are. Is 118-17 Union Turnpike in Forest Hills or Flushing? I've seen it called both. --Farpointer (talk) 19:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
References needed
[edit]References are needed to support statements in every section except for the "notable residents" section. Epicgenius (talk) 14:11, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed. I removed some unsourced material about demographics and where the wealthiest live. --Malerooster (talk) 23:11, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Boundaries?
[edit]The boundaries in the current version of the article appear to be specifically for Forest Hills Gardens: Burns Street is *definitely* not the northern border of Forest Hills! 2604:2000:B007:8C00:A453:BC4C:D423:60FA (talk) 00:52, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree with the above comment addressing the so-called "borders" of Forest Hills:
"It is bounded by Burns Street to the north, Union Turnpike to the east, Greenway South and Harrow Street to the south, and Tennis Place and Continental Avenue to the west."
I live in Forest Hills, so I know well that the entire quote pasted above is wholly inaccurate. Please fix this border listing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.150.44.93 (talk) 23:40, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
