Population size?

[edit]

Currently the infobox shows 129M based on worldometers.info.
But the table in "List of countries and dependencies by population" says 107M, based on some official document (though the source site is now dead).
A reliable source, cia.gov, estimates 118M.

What's considered authoritative in Wikipedia?
And shouldn't different Wikipedia articles use a unified figure or source? galenIgh 14:26, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Ethiopia's population is now estimated at 109,499,000. VTSGsRock (talk) 00:56, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. Ethiopia is number 13, not 10 2603:8080:D03:89D4:2533:F117:A372:C224 (talk) 02:31, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ETHIOPIA HAS ETHNIC FEDRAL SYSTEM, IT'S THE FIRST COUNTRY TO HAVE STATES CALLED WITH ETHNIC IDENTITY, FOR EXAMPLE OROMO STATE HAS OROMO POLICE OROMO COURTY, THE POLICE ALSO IS ALSO CALLED OROMO POLICE, EACH ETHNIC HAS IT'S POLICE FORC NAMED AFTER IT'S ETHNIC IDENTITY. 108.28.42.116 (talk) 00:10, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. CloakedFerret (talk) 00:27, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The tir ISO 639-3 lang code on the native name section of the navbox for the Tigrinya name should be changed to ti the ISO 639-1 code, as they are preferred. 2001:BB6:B84C:CF00:317F:24F4:387D:EB4 (talk) 08:51, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point me to the source for that preference? I can't find it. PianoDan (talk) 17:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m trying to link the category "Category:Lang and lang-xx code promoted to ISO 639-1" but it disappears when I link it. It's part of Module:lang, under tracking categories. 2001:BB6:B84C:CF00:E040:A5E5:2F04:D2DB (talk) 21:11, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Found it. It's actually in Template:Lang, "Because all languages represented by two-letter codes in ISO 639-1 can also be represented by their three-letter equivalents in ISO 639-2 and above, it is recommended to use the shortest language tag possible that sufficiently describes the target language." With that, I'll take care of it. PianoDan (talk) 16:38, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the geography section, it says that Ethiopia is the 28th-largest country. Could someone please change that to 26th to match with the infobox? 2603:8080:D03:89D4:F14D:7CAF:17B3:D513 (talk) 17:00, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the infobox, it says that the area is 429,000, but the paragraph says 472,000. Could someone change 429,000 to 472,000 in the infobox please? 2603:8080:D03:89D4:A12C:2B12:91E3:7B (talk) 23:36, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are a few different measurements of Ethiopia's area, so I've replaced both the paragraph and infobox stats with the one from The World Factbook to align it with the List of countries and dependencies by area. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 19:02, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Anatomically modern humans emerged from modern-day Ethiopia and set out for the Near East and elsewhere in the Middle Paleolithic period."

[edit]

This claim is contested by more recent evidence than the sources provided, and there is a growing consensus in anthropology of a pan-African origin of H. sapiens. E.g. Catofminerva (talk) 10:43, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ezana name change

[edit]

Ezana does not change the name that so completely false. He mentions the Habashat as a people under his dominion not the axumites themselves and separates them from his own kingdom. The false narrative he adopts it for his own kingdom is demonstrably untrue 2A02:C7C:3617:3200:6503:A8E7:1852:8968 (talk) 18:27, 27 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
