Flag

[edit]

I want to add this article to Template:Colonial Empires but the only flag I can find is here, http://www.tobagowi.com/data/tobagohistory.htm. Which isn't a very good one. Falphin 22:51, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

I am downgrading the assessment for the WikiProject Latvia due to lack of references. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 21:00, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This article is an excellent candidate for at least start class assessment, but it still needs references really bad. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 21:43, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

I just discovered this article, haven't finished the Colonies_of_Poland#Duchy_of_Courland_and_Semigallia section. Some merge or at least content synchronization may be appropriate. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 06:31, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps this should be merged with the Courland colonization of the Americas article? --82.11.96.31 (talk) 13:42, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article lacks sources and I have noticed that the sources in the Americas colonization article cover some of the statements here. Additionally, I have noticed many inconsistencies, for example: the reign of Duke Jacob began in 1642 but the article states "His fleet made voyages to the West Indies as early as 1637", with "His" referring to Jacob. The dates clearly do not match up, and the conclusion is that either this colonization attempt was made before his reign or the information is not correct, although this article, cited in the colonization of the Americas article, states that indeed an attempt was made at 1637. I have also noticed many grammar errors and the weird beginning of the History section: "Like Brandenburg, which had far larger German colonising power before the formation of the German Empire, the Duchy of Courland had a European crusading past." To summarize, I don't have the knowledge, experience, or authority to decide whether these articles need to be merged and how, so I will leave this to whoever stumbles upon this article to decide.
