Johnbod, could you please answer a few questions regarding this and this?
What kind of overlinking did I implement?
What exactly did you find "odd"?
Are grammar books wrong in asserting that the phrase "as dowry of Blanche" means the same thing as the phrase "as Blanche's dowry"?
Why should we risk misleading readers into thinking that "Queen Anne of Bohemia" was Queen of Bohemia in the same sense "King Henry IV of England" was King of England?
Now, about "Princess Blanche of England". Was she ever styled as such during her lifetime? The title of princess was used very inconsistently but appears to have been restricted for the most part to the Princess of Wales (de facto including the future Mary I) until the Hanoverian accession. I see 6 authors using that phrase. It seems very anachronistic, akin to Prince Drusus of the Roman Empire.
What surprises me most, however, is that your reasoning for reverting a larger part of my edit is indisputably flawed. Overlinking, really? Surtsicna (talk) 19:18, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sources, including my print ones, use "Princess Blanche of England". "as dowry of Blanche" does not mean the same thing as the phrase "as Blanche's dowry" - in fact we know there was a cash amount specified in the contract, but we do not know how this was settled, hence the careful phrasing. It is "as the dowry of Blanche" that would mean the same as "as Blanche's dowry" - so difficult, the participles in English. What strange "grammar books" you must have! "Queen Anne of Bohemia" is a perfectly normal way of referring to her. Johnbod (talk) 22:31, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sources also use plain ol' "Blanche of England". If you believe "Princess Blanche of England" is more common or somehow more accurate, why not request a move at Talk:Blanche of England? "Queen Anne of Bohemia" is unnecessarily misleading, especially after "King Henry IV of England" is introduced. It should be fairly non-controversial to replace it with "the English queen Anne of Bohemia" or "Anne of Bohemia, who became Queen of England upon marrying Richard II in 1382". I know that I'm not supposed to edit, which is why I am staying off article-space.
Someone wiser than I might like to look at Vol 37 No.1 of the Jpurnal of Gemmology, where there is a considerable article on this crown.
