This Article Needs a Criticism Section.

This article seems to be rather one-sided, and should have a criticism section for balance. 'Black Pride' is often misused by Black supremacists to promote racism against non-Blacks, and this should be reflected in the article. ICE Bullet (talk) 01:49, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Why this should be split

There are three terms: Black Pride, Black Power, Black is Beautiful

Black is beautiful is about healing the injuries of 200 years of racism in America. It is not a "pride movement" The "see also" on this page lists other pride movements. Black power refers explicitly to a movement tied to the black panthers.

This article needs to be split because Black pride and Black is Beautiful occurred at different times and had different goals (involving different people) Black is Beautiful is a huge topic and will need a lot of space anyway. Trust me. futurebird 12:30, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I know this is quite old now but you asked us to "Trust you" in 2007 that the Black is Beautiful movement section would need a lot of space? It is no bigger than Black Pride is now, I have moved that the pages be merged and/or stemmed. --152.228.136.72 (talk) 20:18, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Revert please

The latest edit by Ylevental is - I regret to be blunt here - racist. It's consistent with the assertion made on the AfD that he simply nominated this article for deletion on the basis of just not liking it - with an edit summary on the talk page of White pride here supporting this assertion. Please restore the information removed by User:Ylevental most recently as of this request as he has failed to give enough time for sources to be found. I think a check of the WP articles on MLK, Malcolm X, Randolph and Carmichael will help in this regard. Ditto the songs, especially the first and last. I've added a source to the statement about black pride being linked to the civil rights movement. It's not a great source, but then again, it seems obvious that pride in being black would increase as more people spoke out against discrimination. I'm sure more sources can be picked out from related articles (such as Black Power movement and African-American Civil Rights Movement (1954–68)). clpo13_(talk) 18:55, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Lead sentence

Starting discussion about the lead sentence. Recent edits have tried to qualify "dominant white culture", but the source used does not make any qualifications. Misattribution on Photograph

There is a photograph of Malcolm X, Ella Baker, Martin Luther King Jr., and Frederick Douglass on a mural in Philadelphia which has text under it reading: "Stokely Carmichael, Martin Luther King, Frederick Douglass, and Malcolm X on mural in Philadelphia"

They have taken out Ella Baker and added in Stokely Carmichael who does not appear in this mural.
