Add a "See Also" Section?
[edit]I feel like it would be useful to have a "See Also" section here to guide further reading.
For example, the section could include a link to Doug Dorst's novel S., which is based in part on B Traven. It should also link to any wikipedia page that covers authorship controversies more generally, e.g. as for Shakespeare. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.201.243.112 (talk) 13:50, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
Split
[edit]@Lizardcreator, I don't know if that split to Identity of B. Traven is justified. Once we remove the copious original research and replace the primary source attributions to that which has been discussed in secondary sources, everything remaining should fit within the original article's context. Given how important the question of Traven's identity is to this biography, the article now has far too little on the topic. czar 03:53, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- I thought somebody screwed up the page until I found the link here on the talk page to identity of B. Traven. His identity is not that much in doubt anymore. With so few books being published about him, and interest falling, I don't know how you verify that statement is not original research or private opinion. The 100 year identity chase was at least half of what made him interesting. 107.126.60.87 (talk) 20:59, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- Which is why it is best covered as part of this main article and not as a separate topic, which it can be once the unsourced and poorly sourced text is removed. czar 20:38, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- Interest falling according to whom? It seems like all or most of his books are in print in three languages, and I had no trouble finding quite a few "scholarly articles" about him in English, Spanish, and German.Pascalulu88 (talk) 00:09, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Extensive purge of material on Traven's identity
[edit]Up until June 2022, there was an extensive discussion of various theories about B. Traven's identity. The article now only mentions the Hermann Feige/Ret Marut theory, admittedly the most popular one, and contains nothing on the extensive alternative theories on the identity of the novelist. It seems that the section grew large enough that it was forked off into its own article, a smaller section (without much discussion of alternate theories) entered into this article in its place, then a few months ago, the entire "Identity of B. Traven" article was simply *dropped* and none of that material reincorporated into this article. Whatever problems and need for heavy editing that article had, that level of purging of referenced material is unjustified. The last version of "Identity of B. Traven" is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Identity_of_B._Traven&oldid=1223529534 and some effort of reincorporation of properly cited material should be prioritized.
