This page needs to be edited; Islamophobia is not racism or race-related but I'm not sure which categories are the wrong ones exactly. Some help? Titanium Dragon00:01, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"The term race distinguishes one population of humans (or non-humans) from another" (Race, in Wikipedia); and "the Nazis used the religious observance of a person's grandparents to determine their 'race.' (Box on The Nuremberg Laws, Racial policy of Nazi Germany, Wikipedia). By this definition, "prejudice against or demonization of Muslims" (Islamphobia, in Wikipedia) could qualify as racism, and would seem by most definitions of race, race-related.
George Wallace was one of the biggest racists in American history, so where is he? I mean, the guy had to be forcibly moved by the Alabama National Guard when he attempted to block black students from entering a newly de-segregated school! I just think that he should be on here, as he makes David Duke look like a card-carrying member of the ACLU. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.50.151.8 (talk) 06:43, 14 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
Use of this category on the wrong article might violate WP:BLP
I have noticed a lot of overuse of this category. It has been added to a variety of WP:BLP articles. Unless the article has a lot of text and citations demonstrating that the person was a racist, I think it the category would violate WP:BLP. Including it implies that the person is a racist. Since the pages included at least one person that the article stated the person was a anti-racist, I decided to remove all such apparent violations.
After a controversy related to Robert Mugabe, I was explained that the category is not intended as a list of racist or supposedly racist people. Therefore, I have removed individual entries, most of whom are listed under subordinate categories anyway. Wedineinheck06:28, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Category:Antisemitism has a disclaimer: "This category contains articles that discuss or refer to the topic of antisemitism. It does not imply that the subjects of any biographical articles are antisemitic."
Does this category include only topics that are racist, or topics that are related to racism. In other words, if something is in this category (e.g. antisemitism), does it imply that it is racist? Can topics that are related to racism (for example a group formed to fight or monitor racism) be also included here? Bless sins (talk) 03:57, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Groups that fight racism are generally, with some exception (and that needs to be fixed) in , not here. This category is for subjects which are related to racism. YahelGuhan04:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This includes "anti-racism", which is basically efforts against racism. Should it includes the history of racism, scholars on racism, major reports on racism etc?Bless sins (talk) 16:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I note that the result of this discussion was: The result of the discussion was: no consensus for the proposed rename. However, because consistent consensus has been to delete categories that label people, organizations, media, etc. as "homophobic" (see, e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) no articles for allegedly homophobic people (including fictional people), organizations, or media should exist in this category. I also note that there are serious WP:BLP concerns with adding this category to articles about living people. If this restriction cannot be adhered to, users can notify me and we can go from there. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:48, 2 February 2010 (UTC) It seems to me that either this should be the policy for both Category:Racism and Category:Antisemitism or, to the opposite so that such accusations may be more easily identified and verified, all three should have subcategories called Category:Accusations of ____. CarolMooreDC (talk) 00:47, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Update:Wikipedia:BLP#Categories.2C_lists_and_navigation_templates is clearly against listing people in this type of category. Some categories try to get around it through “Disclaimers.” - WP:BLP says "Category names do not carry disclaimers or modifiers." This is a wink and a nod to including people in a light to give them a poor reputation. This whole area if being tightened up. Thus: {Subjective category} someone else just put on. Note that this note from Category:Homophobia may be promoted to antibigotry categories. This category is for issues relating to homophobia. It must not include articles about individuals, groups or media that are allegedly homophobic.CarolMooreDC (talk) 15:58, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Seems there is a lot of conflict on this page, particularly over its existence, title and lead. I kindly request reading body and provide feedback in RfC and other discussions.Sonrisas1 (talk) 07:11, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
