Apagón - Power Outage
Requesting an article for the recent major power outage in Sep 2016, known as "Apagón". Deaddebate (talk) 02:38, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Article on prominent Puerto Rican-born (apparently) general can use editors familiar with island sources, which might provide desperately needed secondary sourcing. Coretheapple (talk) 15:24, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Coretheapple: yup, he is Puerto Rican. I will see what I can do as local sources might be difficult to come by since he has been outside of the island during his career. But at least I was able to find a source that confirms he graduated from UPRM [1]. Thanks for the notification! —Ahnoneemoos (talk) 21:37, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- Glad you're able to help. The article was created by a subordinate of the general and is getting scrutiny for that reason. I note that you believe he may not meet GNG. Do you think WP:SOLDIER would tend to argue in favor of notability? Coretheapple (talk) 23:28, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hm. You know, looking again at WP:SOLDIER, I think you have a point. Coretheapple (talk) 23:49, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Coretheapple: Unfortunately, WP:SOLDIER is an essay, not a policy. I think that in this case we need to apply WP:BASIC or WP:GNG. The DOD sources can't be used to establish his notability since that's a primary source. —Ahnoneemoos (talk) 23:54, 14 December 2016 (UTC)
- That's an excellent point, and frankly I hadn't noticed it was just an essay. He is not notable per SOLDIER either. I've commenced a discussion on the article talk page and would encourage your participation. Coretheapple (talk) 00:01, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
