Perhaps this draft page won't go anywhere, since editors are also covering the drag "controversy" in the article about the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics, but sharing here, in case any project members are interested. Article about girl groups within the Runiverse?

I'm not sure I have a fully fleshed out idea here, but I'm curious if others think there might be potential to create an article along the lines of Girl groups in the Drag Race franchise. It could cover the girl group challenges within the various series, as well as other girl groups created by contestants. Lots of seasons have a girl group challenges, and sometimes the groups even go on to do other things outside the show. Thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? No news articles have been made, but I can attest that the production company behind Make Up Your Mind, another Dutch drag queen-related show, announced on their Instagram story that they have attained the rights to produce Drag Race Holland and have an intent to produce a third season. Split Category:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants by season?

Category:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants now has 189 members, and a logical way to split them is by which season(s) they were a contestant on. I don't think any of the created subcats would have less than 6 entries.Naraht (talk) 03:59, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Not a bad idea, but at the same time, I'd hate to see you and other project members do the work to create all the subcategories only for someone from WikiProject Television to say that's wrong or whatever. Are you aware of any examples of TV shows with subcategories for contestants? Or, would it be worth asking if creating subcategories is appropriate over at WikiProject Television? ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:44, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

I am also curious if there are some shows with navigation templates for specific seasons. For RuPaul's Drag Race (US), we're getting to a point where there are Wikipedia entries for almost every contestant and every episode (season 4 to present), which make me wonder if templates like Template:RuPaul's Drag Race season 4, Template:RuPaul's Drag Race season 5, etc, would be helpful. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:24, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

@Another Believer, I combined the seasons and episodes, I'm not sure if that's what you were thinking? It's based on the Modern Family template; we can spawn a different template for just episodes e.g. Grey's Anatomy template. Let me know! Is it Juan? (talk) 15:52, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
I was thinking about the possibility of having separate templates for each season, but if there's a way to keep everything together in one, great!
Since we've created season categories for contestants, I wonder if we should consider doing the same for episodes. Example: Category:RuPaul's Drag Race season 10 episodes. If those are created, what about general season categories, too? Example: Category:RuPaul's Drag Race season 10. Created. Another Believer started moving queens before I did. :) I'd like to leave it as just Season 1 for a bit, if no one has thrown any objections in a few days, I'll do the rest. As a guide to creating categories, if there are 6 (number picked to be sure it stays large enough), that aren't redirects to the season, I'll create a subcat. In my opinion, since the winners category is *not* a subcat of the individual seasons, the winning queens *should* be in the category for the season they were in, even if they didn't belong in the bigger overall contestant category.Naraht (talk) 15:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

Winners done, easiest way to make sure there was at least one in the non S17 cats, so we didn't have to worry about an empty cat.

  • (Also, even if there are 6 or more contestants in a season, I don't think it makes sense for those franchises with only one season (I'm looking at Sweden).
Season episodes, absolutely. Category:The Simpsons season 17 episodes for example. (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&limit=500&offset=0&ns14=1&search=intitle%3A%2Feason+1%2F) But RPDR is the only one with cats for contestants, so it would be the only one with both types of subcats. and thus the second type of categories, I think.Naraht (talk) 01:13, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Categories for each season done from 4-17. 17 only has contestants and the season page. Note, now all of the single digit contestant cats have identical text in them, with all display differences calculated from the title. Similarly all double digit season contestant cats and the single and two digit episode cats. May be able to simplify down, issue with one if the workhorse templates, talking to author.
I'm not sure if doing the same thing for All Stars or one of the non-US multi-season locations like Canada or the UK is next, but I'm going to take a bit of a break on that for a bit.

Cats to do

I was set to create an All Stars contestants Cat to hold the All Stars contestants season cats, but then I read the CFD for it. Given that, I think the most reasonable thing to do is to have season Cats for the contestants of the following: Drag_Race_(franchise)#Drag_Race_franchises_by_country that have three or more seasons. this should nicely have the expected minimum of three entries in each cat while keeping WP:DEFINING as well as keeping the individual "country" contestant cats under control. With the exception of queens in the "Shangela" situation, this means each contestant ends up with *one* contestant cat. (Eureka for example would have 2. US9 & US10, but not for AS6 or CatW2)Naraht (talk) 16:05, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

UK filled, Canada filled. Still trying to figure out why Canada is showing negative numbers in navseasonlist, but UK isn't. Minor.

Done, except for three queens redirects left for now in Category:Drag Race España contestants. All additional redirects for S4. I think Angelina La Perversa is a mispelling, Kelly Passa is the queen's name without the punctuation "!?" (likely mispelling?) and Vampirashian is the name the queen used up until the Finale.
