Fantastic Contraption
I'm not sure if this is an acceptable app to make a page about, but I could make a very detailed page as I created a wiki article about it here. I can grab more references if need be.Tes753 (talk) 20:10, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks. I will gather the appropriate resources and references and will make the page. I suppose I should add "(iPhone App)" after "Fantastic Contraption" since there is a online version of the game.--Tes753 (talk) 17:50, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Well if its the same game just on different platforms i'd make 1 page with a section for each platform. Use {{Infobox VG}} as an info box as it is suitable for apps. Cheers ISmashed TALK! 18:23, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- I do not think that the PC version adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines for PC games. I will ask around the game's forums where there was a discussion on whether the game should be on Wikipedia. Thanks for the help!--Tes753 (talk) 22:30, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Pac-Man on this WikiProject?
Just out of curiosity, what's the current reasoning for adding Pac-Man to WikiProject iPhone OS? Is it just that the game was released on this platform? Or is there something more significant about its presence there that makes it particularly notable to this project? — KieferSkunk (talk) — 17:56, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hello? Bueller? — KieferSkunk (talk) — 02:01, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Nothing really notable about it on the iPhone. It's got a pretty average rating (3.5/5) for such a notable game, primarily because it's a game that's not that well suited for the iPhone. Gary King (talk) 07:04, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah there is the classic pac mman game which is a port. Then there is the pac-man remix game which is unique to the platform. ISmashed TALK! 18:59, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a little late getting back to this discussion, but ports and unique versions of Pac-Man exist for virtually every hardware platform imaginable. I purport that the only Wikiproject to which the main Pac-Man article really applies would be the Video Games project. If there is a Wikiproject about Namco or Namco-Bandai, then that would be appropriate as well. But merely having a port and a derivative on iPhone doesn't seem notable enough, IMO, to make it part of a platform-specific project, unless it's such a thing that having a version of Pac-Man is of vital importance to the platform itself. (ie.: Would the average person's decision to buy an iPhone be gauged by whether they could play Pac-Man on it?) — KieferSkunk (talk) — 06:11, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- Okay I agree with that. Also just checked namco have 4 pac-man series games on the iPhone. These are PAC-MAN, PAC-MAN Championship Edition, PAC-MAN REMIX which I personally own and is a totally new game and Ms. PAC-MAN which is a spin off of the original PAC-MAN series. WP 1.0 bot announcement
This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Additional information is available at the WP 1.0 project homepage. — Carl (CBM · talk) 03:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

IPhone OS has been nominated for a featured portal review. Portals are typically reviewed for one week. During this review, editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the portal from featured status. Please leave your comments and help us to return the portal to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, portals may lose its status as featured portals. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. --moɳo 00:29, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
As a task force for WP:MAC
There is an ongoing proposal here to rename WikiProject Macintosh to WikiProject Apple. The idea to make WP:IPHONEOS as task force has also been thrown around. Please join the discussion :). Thanks, Airplaneman ✈ 22:45, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how much it particularly matters as far as the autonomy of the project (which appears to be more concerned with third party apps than Apple hardware and software), but please be aware of it. The current consensus is strongly in favor. HereToHelp (talk to me) 00:33, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
Extreme slowness/stalling using Safari recently
Sorry if this isn't the right place to make this comment, but I couldn't find another more appropriate place.
During the last week or so, all Wikipedia links clicked using Safari (OS3) have either taken a very long time or have stalled out. They used to be redirected to the mobile site, but I no longer see the "m" in the URL.
Is this a known problem, something new, or something only I am experiencing? It has rendered Wikipedia useless for me on my iPhone. 76.126.52.183 (talk) 10:18, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's a little off topic for here. I wonder if it's related to the switch to "New features" for Wikipedia that recently happened. See Special:UsabilityInitiativePrefSwitch. PaleAqua (talk) 13:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
App Store article still class=B|importance=Top ?
Was at Talk:App Store and replaced {{WikiProject iPhone OS|class=B|importance=Top}}, which was being displayed as "Please replace this template with {{WikiProject Apple Inc.|iphone=yes}}". Top of Talk:App_Store included {{ WikiProject iPhone OS|class=B|importance=Top}} and {{WikiProject Macintosh|class=B|importance=High}}. Both those WikiProject tags replaced by {{WikiProject Apple Inc.}}. Both had class=B so I guessed current rating is B. Wondering which importance rating to use: Top or High? Not sure where the feature requests should go, but here's one: THE ABILITY TO EDIT. No iPhone wikipedia-related apps allow this so far, and editting via Safari is at best very very tedious. Please make this happen in the future! :D Children of the dragon (talk) 04:39, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

IPhone OS articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the IPhone OS articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Sunday, November 14th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!
If you have already provided feedback, we deeply appreciate it. For the Wikipedia 1.0 editorial team, SelectionBot 16:33, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
itunes remote app for ios
I hope this is the right place to ask: The article iTunes Remote is in need of an updated picture, because the current picture is old. I was wondering if anyone has the app and could take a new screenshot or something. --Thekmc (talk) 22:19, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Usage of iTunes Preview App Template
I just created a new template for use under the External Links section of app pages. The template is Template:ITunes Preview App and is used to link iOS Applications to their iTunes Preview pages.
An example is for Infinity Blade:

Can we start implementing this template on app pages? Thanks.KiasuKiasiMan 11:08, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

RfC on the use of terminology like “GiB” (gibibyte) on Wikipedia
Notice: An RFC is being conducted here at Talk:Hard diskdrive#RFC on the use of the IEC prefixes. The debate under consideration is the use in this table of the “Hard disk drive” article of nomenclature such as “KiB”, “MiB”, and “GiB” to describe capacities. The governing guideline on MOSNUM is Quantities of bytes and bits. The quality of the discussion can be improved by broadening participation of the discussion. This will hopefully more fully achieve a consensus. Greg L (talk) 17:57, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
2 ads?
Why does this task force have two WP ads (#177 and #210)? Is that even allowed? I would think that that's cheating, or at least somehow unfair to everyone else. —Preceding signed comment added by Airhogs777 (talk • contribs • wikia) 08:11, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

iOS 7
Hi! I'd appreciate a little extra input into what is now becoming an edit war on the iOS 7 article regarding the inclusion of a proportionally large criticism section. I have opened a talk discussion there, yet IP editors keep re-adding the section despite a lack of reliable sources, and the fact that it causes extreme bias. I don't know whether semi-protection is warranted, but it'd be good if some people could help back me up; I don't want to fall foul of 3RR, so I can't protect it myself any more. Thanks! drewmunn talk 10:23, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- WP:DR could be of advice. But from the history, I think you're right. -- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 12:36, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Cheers. I tried opening sensible channels of communication, but the editors in question didn't take the opportunity to be civil. I don't like whining for help, but at the same time feel that the content being added isn't in line with our policies and don't want it to get nasty or end up on DRN unnecessarily. drewmunn talk 12:49, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- Stuff is getting a little silly at the article now, with a massive section unecessarily transcluded from the iOS version history, and the critisism section being reader without the cleanup tag. Could we have some more, constructive input please? If I do anything else there I'm going to fall foul of 3RR and the assembled hoards of IPs will no doubt just carry on as if nothing had happened if I get blocked. I'm seriously considering asking for semi-protection just to give it time to settle and the people trying to useful things to it an oppotunity to get work done. drewmunn talk 19:50, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
- When things haven't been released, speculatopi and lies tend to follow. I suggest semi protection. -- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 23:57, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Screenshot
Hello again! Following yesterday's Beta 2 release of iOS 7, the screenshot has been updated to show the software running on iPad. This image was taken from an online source (Softpedia), and depicts the home screen. However, unlike the shot previously used, it includes a number of icons for 3rd party software. This would require extra disclosure on the image description, but more importantly, how do people feel about using a such a shot as our sole depiction? Do we risk confusion over why Dropbox etc are shown as part if iOS 7? Thanks! drewmunn talk 06:50, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Wikipedia:WikiProject iOS → WP:WikiProject Apple Inc./iOS task force – To better merge with the Apple inc. project. — 2002:43F4:3ABB:1234:6599:A678:D07E:B60A (talk) 17:20, 5 December 2015 (UTC) Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 12:57, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- Based on the lack of action on this talk page, I think work has stopped on this project, and similarly for any renamed taskforce. I would suggest mark it historical and direct people to WP:WikiProject Apple Inc. instead. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:39, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- There are three active users and I have invited a fourth. It is semi active. It's not "dead". Also I would not base these things on talk page activity I would base it on the project. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2002:43f4:3abb:1234:a4ed:4387:1b01:30cc (talk • contribs) 13:30, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- The standard action is to merge inactive projects as taskforces in overarching more active projects, per WP:MFD recommendations. Marking it historical won't help editors coming to the project to request help, while merging inactive projects to more active ones with a larger scope in the same area will. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 05:55, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Similar to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Optics, I would recommend marking this as historical and simply adding a pointer to Wikipedia:WikiProject Apple Inc.. It doesn't look like anyone is interested in maintaining this project, even as a task force, so it should not be foisted onto the folks at WikiProject Apple Inc. who have given no indication they want it. Jenks24 (talk) 12:06, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- If we merge it, it will become more active. I know it. It's semi active. A bunch of users maintain it. 2002:43F4:3ABB:1234:8414:C5C3:563B:8A4 (talk) 18:10, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- Similar to WP:MILHIST their task forces all redirect their talk pages to the main talk page, so that automatically improves watchers. That can be done here after this is moved. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 10:25, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
- Who are these users? Where are they? Surely if there were even some semi-active members of this project they would have participated in the several weeks this has been open. The last post on this talk page is from 2013 so I doubt that there are any even semi-active project members willing to maintain it, even as a task force. And regarding the suggestion to redirect the talk page, what is the benefit compared to just placing a big notice at the top of this page? At least that way WikiProject Apple Inc. doesn't get foisted with a task force (that will require maintenance) that they do not want. Jenks24 (talk) 10:47, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
- This wikiproject started out as a taskforce of WP:APPLE, returning it to WP:APPLE hardly seems like foisting it on WPApple, since it started there in the first place in 2009 it was only converted to a WikiProject in 2012. That taskforce page now redirects here because of the conversion. -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 12:29, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Old subpages
There are two subpages of the old task force that I renamed to avoid creating issues. They now reside at:
- Wikipedia:WikiProject_Apple_Inc./iOS_task_force/Members_old
- Wikipedia:WikiProject_Apple_Inc./iOS_task_force/to do old

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:23, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
