Article for Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus/Indiana University Columbus

[edit]

Hi all. Back in July, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis split into two universities, Indiana University Indianapolis and Purdue University in Indianapolis. The split with that institution seems to have gone well on here, but this split also affected the regional campus under IUPUI's administration, Indiana University–Purdue University Columbus. The plan was for that institution to transition to becoming just Indiana University Columbus, and Purdue ending its involvement with the campus. So far though, the IUPUC page has been changed such that all its verbs are past-tense (indicating a defunct institution), and the link for Indiana University Columbus is just a redirect to the IUPUC page with its past-tense phrasing. My initial plan was just to move the IUPUC page to Indiana University Columbus and change all its tenses to present-tense again, but I wanted to check in here first to see what you all thought, or if there were plans to make a new IU Columbus page and leave the IUPUC page up as is, as a defunct institution. Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks in advance! Finchwidget (talk) 03:45, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Technique (newspaper) has been nominated for a good article reassessment by @Hog Farm. I think (someone double-check me) this may be our only GA for a student paper, so it would be nice to save it (or bring another article up to its status) so we have a paper to display for our showcase article section for use as a model elsewhere. Accredited Universites

[edit]

Fully accredited degree issuing University are being deleted.WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES does state "Most independently accredited degree-awarding institutions have enough coverage to be notable, although that coverage may not be readily available online." Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 11:53, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It also says that a 2017 RfC concluded that: "WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES should be added to the Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions, as it is an accurate statement of the results but promotes circular reasoning." You can see this has been done at WP:OUTCOMESBASED. If there are accredited universities up for deletion, you can advertise that (neutrally) here and editors may be able to track down references. But institutions are not automatically notable just because they are accredited. Robminchin (talk) 22:16, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Name change?

[edit]

I just did a "move" for Monroe College, which is now Monroe University as of September. I did a move? Did I do it correctly? Is there anything else I need to do with the redirect so I'm not messing anything up. If anyone could check to confirm that would be great! Jjazz76 (talk) 03:24, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That was perfect! Rublamb (talk) 03:36, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rublamb Thanks! Easier than I thought. I thought I was following all the colleges to universities in New York, but apparently I missed this one by about 3 months! Jjazz76 (talk) 03:48, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Deletion

[edit]

I went to Columbia back in the day, but this article The Record (Columbia University) seems like such inside baseball and isn't really noteable as far as I can tell. I'm not even sure it is still publishing after 2016. Could we do an AfD on this. (I was reading the instructions on how to do an AfD and worry it might just be a tad too complicated for me.)

User starting numerous RMs

[edit]

I wanted to bring to the attention of this project a user who has started maybe two dozen requested moves to shorten the names of various colleges and universities; see for instance University of Virginia to UVA. All of them were made with the same rationale (COMMONNAME) with no evidence to back up that assertion. While some of the requests may have merit (the SUNY schools for example) two dozen cookie-cutter requests seems disruptive. ~~ Jessintime (talk) 18:32, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
