Wikipedia:WikiProject Reliability/March 2025 Drive
Welcome!
- Do you have a question? Please feel free to comment on the project talk page or ping the co-ordinator, and someone will try to help as soon as possible!
- Do you need help creating citations? See the Referencing for beginners and Citing sources pages for information on how to write references and create citations
- Quality over quantity. Cite reliable sources and make sure that your references actually verify the content. Avoid perpetuating citogenesis. Contributions will be spot-checked at the end of the drive by the co-ordinators, and bad "fixes" will be reverted and invalidated.
Welcome to WikiProject Reliability's second backlog drive for articles with unsourced statements, that is, claims tagged with {{citation needed}}! There are currently 536467 such articles. Fix a few, or fix a lot!
This drive is focused on cleaning up good articles. Removing a tag from a good article (the list) is worth more points (see details in §Scoring, below).
This drive uses a system similar to the Guild of Copy Editors' drives. First, click the big blue "sign up" button. Click "Publish changes" in the edit box that then appears. This will create a section on this page where you list the number of articles you have removed tags from, the number of tags you removed/replaced with a citation from each article, and your total number of points so far. If this is confusing, there's an example further below.
Scoring and guidelines
[edit]The focus of this drive is cleaning up good articles. To "clean up" an article, all the tags have to be removed. For each tag, follow this procedure:
- Search to find a citation that supports the claim.
- If you find one, great! Replace the tag with the citation, correctly formatted. (It's possible to fix multiple tags with the same citation. You still get full points for each one.)
- If the article is a GA: 4 points per tag; otherwise, 2 each.
- If you can't find one, you can remove the claim. Remember, the burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material. Remember to careful, though, and ensure that all of the claim in question is excised from the article.
- GA: 2 points each; otherwise, 1 each.
- If you just remove the tag without fixing the article, you're editing disruptively. Don't.
In your tally section, please list the articles you've made changes to, and list the total number of points at the bottom. You can update your tally section one edit at a time, or in batches.
Here's an example tally section, with different edits worth different numbers of points:
- Article (4 tags fixed). 8 points
- Article (GA; 1 unsourced statement removed) 2 points
- Article (GA; 2 tags fixed). 8 points
- Total: 18.
Barnstars will be awarded when the drive ends. The drive runs from March 1 2025 to March 31 2025 (inclusive).
If you have any questions, ask our coordinator: .
