Reference help
[edit]When trying to find a reference to document a historical incident, a search of the Google News Archives can been helpful, as seen here.
Also, many umpire articles make mention of some notable games that an umpire has officiated in. When searching for a reference to document this involvement, one might find box scores for said games listing the umpires at sites such as Baseball-Reference.com, Baseball Almanac.com, ESPN.go.com (which is often a good place to find game recaps), and MLB.com. Retrosheet's Umpire directory also provides useful biographical info as well as box scores. In fact, Retrosheet now includes information not only about ejection totals for a season, but also provides very brief summaries regarding individual ejections.
