"Why we still need to talk about diversity in Physics" - Dr. Jess Wade One of Nature's '10 people who matter in Science' 2018, Dr. Jess Wade is a physicist who made the resolution to make a Wikipedia page every day of 2018 to highlight the often underacknowledged work of women, LGBT+ and scientists of colour. Jess was invited to speak at the University of Edinburgh's Science and Engineering campus by the Women in STEM Society. In this talk, held at the University of Edinburgh's Swann Lecture Theatre on 30 January 2019, Jess addressed why talking about diversity in physics is still so essential and what we need to do about it. Women's Suffrage in Scotland - exhibition launch at the University of Edinburgh Library.	29 November 2018	Ground floor, University of Edinburgh Library, 30 George Square, Edinburgh Organiser: Kirsty MacNab, Exhibitions Officer at the University of Edinburgh's Library and University Collections division	50 approx.	A hybrid exhibition launch on the evening of 29th November incorporating both physical items displayed in glass cabinets and a smart table displaying digital records through a Wikidata-driven timeline of Women's Suffrage in Scotland, created by Women in Red volunteer editors creating new Wikipedia pages about Scotland's suffragettes and pulling these entries together in a Histropedia timeline. I spoke to attendees and invited them to interact with the timeline on the smart table to learn about all the lives and contributions of these remarkable women.
Edinburgh Futures: Data, Data all Around … - one day IT Futures conference in the Informatics Forum, University of Edinburgh	12 December 2018	Informatics Forum, University of Edinburgh Organiser: The IT Futures committee at the University of Edinburgh	50 approx.	Attended one day conference with following theme: "Surrounded by vast quantities of data, we are confronted by deep problems and extraordinary opportunities. Radical new thinking is needed, imaginative and interdisciplinary. Citydeal is about the University, in collaboration with the City, its businesses and a wider context, building a national centre of expertise, training and ethics, to realise the value in data. Our conference this year seeks to bring us together as a University to understand the breadth of the implications for creativity, research and education. The Usher Institute is already a major centre for the application of data expertise; the Bayes Centre, newly opened, has hit the ground running; the Edinburgh Futures Institute is emerging with a focus perhaps especially on creativity and learning. What do we want it to mean, when we say Edinburgh is Data Capital of Europe?"

• To prepare an International Women's Day editathon at Argyle House on 8 March 2019.
• Psychology in Action MSc assignment – discussing first iteration to go ahead in February 2019.
• Digital education MSc assignment – discussing first iteration to go ahead in February 2019.
• The import of thesis collection data to Wikidata from the Edinburgh Research Archive is to go ahead now Library Developer Mike Bennett's contract is continuing. Completed necessary preparatory work; just awaiting Mike testing the tool on Wikidata's test site that converts ALMA library catalogue data into a Wikidata-friendly import.
• Importing a subset of the Tower Block archive images into Datashare and from there importing the images to Wikimedia Commons and linking to structured data in Wikidata. This is an ongoing project which I have discussed with Jason Evans, Wikimedian at the National Library of Wales.
• Continuing to add more data to Wikidata from the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft database. Recruiting a Data and Visualisation intern (a Witchfinder General) to work on geographical aspect of the import.
• Co-hosting a Wikipedia Diversithon with the student Wellcome Kings group and UnCoverEd student researchers to add more biographies of notable LGBT+ professionals and BAME professionals missing from the online encyclopedia.
• Discussing Digital Sociology MSc workshop for March 2019 with course convenor, Kate Orton-Johnson.
• To meet with Simon Fokt, Learning Technologist at the University of Edinburgh, about a Women in Philosophy editing event.
• To further explore how Wikipedia editing could become part of the Edinburgh Award programme.
• To continue meeting objectives in terms of our Athena SWAN commitment to writing new articles about notable women in ten different academic disciplines as part of the new 4 year (2018-2022) Athena SWAN plan.
