Linguine

[edit]

I want to learn more about linguine. Can anyone recommend a comprehensive, authoritative source on the history of pasta? Viriditas (talk) 08:38, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read Pasta? Also, here's a cameo appearance by linguine, in a movie.[1] --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots10:42, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Pasta: The Story of a Universal Food (2000), by Silvano Serventi and Françoise Sabban Alansplodge (talk) 12:41, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Heath Robinson dob

[edit]

Heath Robinson has two dates for his birth, May 13 and May 31. Anyone know how to get a referenced definitive date? -- SGBailey (talk) 11:43, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The BBC says May 31. The May 13 date in the article has no reference; my guess is that is a typo; someone transposed 31 to 13. --Jayron32 12:12, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed by The Illustrations of W. Heath Robinson: A Commentary and Bibliography (1983) p. 1
William Heath Robinson was born in the borough of Islington , North London , on the 31st May 1872. He had two older brothers and was to have two sisters and a brother younger than himself.

(edit conflict) The edit that introduced the inconsistency looks indeed like it was an inadvertent transposition. The BBC article may be later than ours, but these sources for May 31 are definitely earlier: [2], [3], [4].  --Lambiam 12:49, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also confirmed by the Heath Robinson Museum (and they should know): The 31st May 2022 will be the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Heath Robinson. [5] Alansplodge (talk) 12:53, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And his headstone says May 31.[6] --←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots13:04, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have corrected the article using one of Lambiam's references. --Jayron32 13:20, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
