The San Diego Public Library will be hosting an edit-a-thon during at the San Diego Central Library. All are encouraged to attend, however seating is limited. This will be the 113th Wikipedia meetup in San Diego County.

Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Summer Sessions 2024

This event is part of a combined series. If you register for this event, you will be automatically registered for all of the following events in the series.
Learn to edit Wikipedia pages and contribute to making knowledge more accessible! Join us from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in editing, writing, and improving a local history article. Join us to find out which one we'll be working on together! All experience levels are welcome. It is highly recommended that participants create a Wikipedia account ahead of time. Participants are invited to bring their own laptops as computer availability may be limited.Please register and reserve your space below!
This is part one of a three part series, one session per month. The dates are as follows:Monday, July 29th on the 9th floor in the Special Collections room.
Monday, August 26th on the 9th floor in the Special Collections room.
Monday, September 23rd on the 4th floor in the Wells Fargo Computer Lab. Light refreshment will be provided.
The San Diego Wikimedians User Group, an affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, will be giving a short tutorial on getting started with Wiki editing. Afterwards, we will begin editing! Some computers will be available. Attendees may bring their own WiFi-enabled devices if they so desire, though in-room outlet space may be limited.
The San Diego Public Library is seeking experienced users/editors of Wikipedia to assist members of the public in creating a Wikipedia article about a locally historic individual who does not yet have an article. We are looking to work on an article on a subject within the County of San Diego, to the point where it will get on Did You Know on the main page of Wikipedia.
Getting there
[edit]San Diego Central library is located in East Village, San Diego, and west of Interstate 5. It is encouraged that attendees plan in advance as parking underneath the library is not guaranteed. All library visitors may validate parking to two (2) hours. It is also northeast of the 12th & Imperial Transit Center, making it accessible to multiple San Diego Metropolitan Transit System options.
