The Jean and Alexander Heard Library at Vanderbilt University is hosting a Wikipedia "Buildings at Vanderbilt University" Edit-A-Thon with Special Collections at Vanderbilt University. Wikipedians of all experience levels are encouraged to participate.
Event Details
WHO: Undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, staff and anyone else who is interested
WHAT: This Edit-a-thon will focus on creating and expanding Wikipedia articles about buildings at Vanderbilt University. Participants will have the opportunity to utilize relevant sources available at Special Collections in their attempts to start and edit current Wikipedia articles about these buildings.
WHEN: Saturday, 16 November 2013, 1:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M.
WHERE: The edit-a-thon will be held at Vanderbilt University's Special Collections, located on the second floor of Central Library. Directions and Parking Information for Special Collections
OTHER: Wifi and electrical outlets will be provided at Special Collections, but please bring your own laptop for use. It is recommended that you create a Wikipedia account beforehand since Wikipedia has a limit on the number of accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period (currently 6). Please send a message to Yun Cha if you have any questions regarding creating an account.

Special Collections of the Jean and Alexander Heard Library
The staff members of special collections have combed through the university archives to find original source materials for use during the Edit-A-Thon. There will be boxes of archival materials arranged by topic for each building. This is a great opportunity to learn about the history of these buildings from the primary source documents.
