[edit]Change the summary of this page
[edit]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aditya_Chola_II - The title of this page should change to Aditha Chola II. Not Aditya. 183.82.26.31 (talk) 02:35, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- This is something that you are welcome to point out at the foot of Talk:Aditya Chola II. -- Hoary (talk) 02:39, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- ALready discussed at the Talk Page in July 2022. Needs sourcing to show this is the WP:COMMONNAME. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:29, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
Regarding new page review
[edit]I've created a new page by moving from the userspace. Do I need to request review somewhere? Doesn't seem to be in the NPP new page log. Duonaut (talk | contribs) 08:27, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Duonaut The NPP have a large backlog, so it may not be reviewed for a while. You don't have to request review, although you could request to become autopatrolled if you are confident you are competent (generally have created about 25 articles without problems). Note that search engines do not index new articles until approved by NPP or 90 days have elapsed after creation. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:26, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- At least when I checked, that page actually didn't appear in Special:NewPagesFeed. Madeline (part of me) 12:06, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- The Page appears when it was created as a userpage. Probably a MediaWiki problem or something. Duonaut (talk | contribs) 19:13, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

How can i Publish Article
[edit]How can I publish Article Onlygurdeep (talk) 09:07, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- OnlygurdeepYour draft lacked the information needed to submit it for a review, I have added it(this is provided if you create a draft via WP:AFC). However, if you were to submit it now, it would likely be declined, as you have no independent reliable sources with significant coverage of the channel- it must not merely document its existence and what it does. Please see Your First Article- writing a new article is the hardest task to attempt on Wikipedia. If you work for this channel, the Terms of Use require that to be declared, see paid editing, as well as conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 09:10, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Is listing the channel number on different networks really relevant to an encyclopedia? David10244 (talk) 04:47, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Third opinion on proposed deletion
[edit]Hello, Kadı has proposed the deletion of Heris Tower, claiming the building is not notable to have its own article. I have since contested the deletion, by noting that is is the 7th tallest building in Izmir as well as previously holding the title of 2nd tallest building for 13 years. A third opinion would be greatly appreciated as we are at an impasse. Thank you! Central Data Bank (talk) 13:37, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- A third opinion may be obtained by following the linked instructions, Kadı.--Quisqualis (talk) 03:24, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Not to mention Central Data Bank .--Quisqualis (talk) 03:28, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Help with syntax of interlanguage link within a citation
[edit]Hi there. Can someone please tell me how to fix the error in the following book citation:
Schurr, Gérald (1996). Le guidargus de la peinture (in French). Les Éditions de l'Amateur. ISBN 2859172084. {{cite book}}
: Check |author-link=
value (help)
Masato.harada (talk) 13:49, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Masato.harada:
author-link=:fr:Gérald Schurr
: - Schurr, Gérald [in French] (1996). Le guidargus de la peinture (in French). Les Éditions de l'Amateur. ISBN 2859172084.
- If you want to partially do what {{ill}} does then
author-link={{#ifexist:Gérald Schurr|Gérald Schurr|:fr:Gérald Schurr}}
: - Schurr, Gérald [in French] (1996). Le guidargus de la peinture (in French). Les Éditions de l'Amateur. ISBN 2859172084.
- It currently produces the same but if we get Gérald Schurr here then that will be linked instead.
{{ill|Gérald Schurr|fr}}
produces Gérald Schurr . I don't think {{cite book}} makes that possible. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:49, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
Concrete masonry unit
[edit]I am the author of the source in this article. It listed only the date of the first edition. I added additional years for 2nd through 6th editions. I'm getting a formatting error message. Please help.Christinebeall (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- The editor who used your source, used only one edition of that source so that one edition is the only edition that should be listed as a reference in Concrete masonry unit. I have reverted your edit.
- —Trappist the monk (talk) 17:39, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- IT's not obvious why the book is listed separately as a 'source' anyway. The article cites multiple references, and I can't see why one should be treated differently from the others. AndyTheGrump (talk) 17:50, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Probably because references 8, 10, and 11 are all the same source but refer to different in-source locations so to avoid unnecessary bibliographical duplication, the editor wrote one
{{cite book}}
template and then referred to it with{{sfn}}
templates to specify which pages in the source support the text in the article. The only 'problem' that I see with this setup is that the{{cite book}}
should not specify in-source locations as it does now (|pages=61–63
). I have fixed that. - —Trappist the monk (talk) 18:12, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- That all makes sense. Thanks. Christinebeall (talk) 19:58, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Trappist the monk Wait, if the cites are to the same edition of the book, shouldn't the page numbers stay in the cite? Having page numbers helps readers find the supporting material. Obviously I'm confused. David10244 (talk) 04:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Page numbers are in the
{{sfn}}
templates which are references 8, 10, and 11 in the article. Those page numbers, 61–63, 66–68, & 68–70, if included in the{{cite book}}
template are just redundant and like many redundancies, might be confusing, and are certainly clutter. It is a somewhat common practice when using short form referencing, to include the page-range of a cited journal article in a{{cite journal}}
template with individually cited pages in the short-form templates. This aids those reader who attempts to get the local college library to photocopy the journal article; give the student librarian a range of pages to copy so that you get all of the article ... Nowadays, with so many journal articles available online for the price of a few coins, perhaps that practice isn't so necessary. - —Trappist the monk (talk) 11:29, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks, I get it. David10244 (talk) 09:53, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

- That makes sense. I'll leave it be. Thanks. Christinebeall (talk) 19:58, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Using brackets
[edit]I'm looking for some advice on how to use brackets for sporting events or where I could find bracket templates? I'm thinking of making pages for team sports at the Paralympic Games, e.g. goalball, and possibly for results for any individual sports like table tennis. I haven't used brackets before but it would be interesting to see how it works. SarahTHunter (talk) 17:17, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- @SarahTHunter: When I do not know how to do something on Wikipedia, I try to find a worked example. In this case, I found a bracket in 2021 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Go to the section with the bracket and click on "edit" to see the source. You can copy that source into your sandbox and play with it from there. -Arch dude (talk) 19:18, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, I'll try that out. SarahTHunter (talk) 10:04, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- For readers who haven't a clue what this is about (like me), see Bracket (tournament). Bazza (talk) 19:22, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
