Image Removals & Blocking for FirstPrezzzz1776

[edit]

I was blocked and had my images removed that were not in violation. They were my images. Please help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by FirstPrezzzz1776 (talkcontribs) 02:16, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@FirstPrezzzz1776: It appears you were blocked on Commons, not the English Wikipedia. Please follow the instructions on commons:User talk:FirstPrezzzz1776 for assistance. GoingBatty (talk) 03:49, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like you were blocked on Commons and the images were deleted because of copyright violations. You uploaded the images as "own work", meaning you were asserting that you took the photographs yourself, and created the logos yourself. However, the images appear elsewhere on the internet, and on Commons you state that you are a student and employee of the university and were given the photographs by the school. Please read our pages on conflicts of interest and paid editing, and especially Commons' policy on copyright. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 04:25, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

does anybody have any information on the cheongju kim clan of korea? im a cheongju kim but i cant find any information about it.

thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ceiichirou (talkcontribs) 05:55, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Google seems to think this is the same as Cheongju Han clan here on Wikipedia. Does that help? Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:31, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, @Ceiichirou:, that's almost certainly not what were looking for. The nearest I can find is a brief mention at Kim_(Korean_surname)#Other_clans. Mike Turnbull (talk) 12:45, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Line feed character and check date values in a tweet

[edit]

Hi! I found the cite tweet template recently, but I have a problem with it. On this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta_FaZe one tweet has an error ""line feed character in |title= at position 57 (help); Check date values in: |date= (help)"", but I don't know what is causing this. Also, the date is "June 24, 2095" but I didn't put a date in the template?? No other tweets on the page have this problem?? I'm confused. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piano-ongaku (talkcontribs) 07:18, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I fixed the line feed thing, but what about the date?? --Piano-ongaku (talk)

@Piano-ongaku: It's the last reference in the Atlanta FaZe#2019 Season, right? Does the tweet open properly if you click the URL? If I do, Twitter shows 'Something went wrong. Try again.' to me... --CiaPan (talk) 07:40, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@CiaPan: Yes, that's what it was! I messed up the url! Thank you! --Piano-ongaku (talk) 07:45, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(Added too late) (e/c) The template {{Cite tweet}} you used uses the {{cite web}} to format the whole reference and the {{TwitterSnowflake}} to format the date based on the tweet's ID. I suppose you entered an invalid tweet ID (the 'number' parameter) and that's why the URL doesn't open properly and a date can't be retrieved. --CiaPan (talk) 07:47, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is Twitter a reliable source? I would have thought not.Spinney Hill (talk) 09:34, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter isn't the source at all. The person or entity doing the tweeting is. Limited use of tweets is fine for attributed statements of opinion or per WP:ABOUTSELF. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 13:14, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That said, when 16/27 references on an article are tweets, even though they are being used in compliance with WP:ABOUTSELF, the article has a problem in that it is trying to convey information that has not been determined by independent sources to be relevant. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:19, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's my next step, looking for sources that aren't twitter twitter twitter twitter. But first I wanted to get rid of the messy urls! --Piano-ongaku (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:30, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Changes in the first paragraph of Wikipedia for an Indian Actor's page.

[edit]

HI

This is Alifiyah Haji here, from Vidyut Jammwal's team. Vidyut Jammwal is a bollywood actor working in the Hindi Film Industry. We would like to edit his introductory paragraph on Wikipedia.

I'll share the link of his current page and I'll give the content which we would like to edit and update along with the supporting links. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vidyut_Jammwal

The version that we would like to get it reframed to. "Vidyut Jammwal (born 10 December 1980) is the only Indian to be officially recognised by Google as the world's top martial artist in the league of legends such as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal, Donnie Yen and Jean-Claude Van Damme. He is a film actor and stunt performer, who predominantly works in Hindi-language films. He represented India on the global front by featuring on TheRichest list of '10 People You Don't Want To Mess With' along with Bear Grylls and Vladimir Putin. Renowned as a fitness star, Jammwal is credited for popularising Kalaripayattu, mother of all martial arts."

The supporting links to the above information are googlable.

"... officially recognised by Google"??? Uporządnicki (talk) 12:47, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This proposed changed violates WP:NPOV. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:50, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Alifiyah Haji: If you have other suggestions you would like to make to improve the article, you may do so at Talk:Vidyut Jammwal with the {{request edit}} template. GoingBatty (talk) 14:41, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Google does not have any authority in deciding who is the greatest martial artist. JIP | Talk 01:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And they don't claim to. Alifiyah Haji probably refers to the Google search world's top martial artist. It displays a sequence of people but they are presumably just automatic search results. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:15, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Covid19

[edit]

I think all the information you Wikipedia have listed under covid19 is there but what about the other information that is pertinent? Like the WHO holding Event 201 led by Bill Gates in October of 2019 for a preliminary 'what if' then Covid happens two months later. Or how Gates Foundation and Clinton Foundation two biggest donors to the WHO, or how Bill Gates has been public about a worldwide vaccine, or how Faucci, Gates, and many others in political office now have skin in the game because they own patents on biological matter, which is against US law...When that was coming to light, reports claim this was moved to Wuhan so our patent holders here wouldn't be held liable under US law. I just want all of this part of Covid19 section. Give us the information and let us please make educated decisions. You Wikipedia, are bought out and owned by Google. Your information is clearly censored. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:85E0:5470:1528:F33B:6CD9:A73 (talk) 13:16, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Barry N. Haack -- this article seems to be stuck awaiting approval longer than normal

[edit]

I submitted an article on "Barry N. Haack" who is an authority in the field of remote sensing, a senior scientist at the USGS, and a retired professor at George Mason University.

The article met with editor requirements for more in line citations. It's not chock-full of them, and has been for some months. How might I get this article moving? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twilson088 (talkcontribs) 13:32, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Twilson088 You have not resubmitted it for review, you need to click the "resubmit" button. 331dot (talk) 13:51, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Twilson088:  Courtesy link: Draft:Barry N. Haack It was rejected and never resubmitted. Please read the feedback the reviewers left. Doxxing?

[edit]

I requested a new username a year ago, but now see that my previous edits are still visible under my previous username, which is my actual name, which I would rather they not be. Advice on how to change this, is there a blanket edit you can do to change all previous contributions to having a different signature?Hol-Tangings (talk) 13:58, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hol-Tangings, I think WP:VANISH my be what you're after. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:22, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Gråbergs Gråa Sång

I think this is what I want: "If you want to change your username, users in good standing are free to request a change of username at any time. All contributions made under the old username will be re-attributed to the new username, including deleted contributions, preserving the edit history.[a] Old signatures embedded in past posts cannot be changed due to technical limitations of the MediaWiki software, although in some cases collapsing or blanking is possible."

I've already changed my username (the current one is the new one), it's just that all of my old contributions are still connected to the old one, they haven't been re-attributed. Is there a way to request that the collapsing or blanking be done?Hol-Tangings (talk) 14:36, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Hol-Tangings: I guess you only refer to the username in signatures. User talk:Hol-Tangings can be blanked but you have no edits there. Other talk pages shouldn't be blanked just because a user has changed name. You can find your old signatures at Special:Contributions/Hol-Tangings or "What links here" on your old user page, and manually change the name to your current name. The old name will still be in the page history. It can also be found in some logs connected to the rename. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:24, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
PrimeHunter That's fine! It's just the front facing names that I wanted changed anyway, I mistakenly thought my old name would be removed everywhere it existed when I changed username, I know now that it has to be done manually, thank you!Hol-Tangings (talk) 17:13, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent- How to paste my content to Wiki

[edit]

Hi, I am a university administrator trying to copy and paste content on the uni website to wikipedia, but the content was deleted by an administrator due to copyright, even when I cited the source. What can I do to use the content that my organization owns to Wikipedia? Thanks ChiaWeiHo (talk) 15:13, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot, unless the copyright holder puts it under a license that allows resuse for any purpose. See WP:DCM. Addtionally, this is an encyclopedia, and it is unlikely that your website is written to the standards of an encylopdia article. RudolfRed (talk) 15:22, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ChiaWeiHo: Furthermore, you are a paid editor (see WP:PAID), so you must declare your paid status, Do not edit Wikipedia's article about the university directly. Instead, make requests for changes to it: (see WP:COI). In spite of all this, we really do welcome any suggestions you may wish to make that will improve the article. -Arch dude (talk) 16:22, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And one more "furthermore", ChiaWeiHo: it is unlikely that anything on the University website will be appropriate for a Wikipedia article about the University. Wikipedia is not for the university (or any other subject) to tell the world about itself: that is called promotion, and is forbidden. A Wikipedia article should be almost entirely based on what people who have no connection with the subject have chosen to publish about the subject, not on what the subject says or wants to say. --ColinFine (talk) 18:04, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disrespectful, offensive and blasphemous article?

[edit]

How do you report an article that is disrespectful, offensive and blasphemous towards Muslims? Are there not any community guidelines in place that prevent such articles?86.31.12.145 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 20:37, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest posting your concerns (and suggestions for improvement) to the article's talk page. GoingBatty (talk) 21:07, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not censored. It is a neutral encyclopedia that does not cater to any specific belief system. There's plenty of stuff on here that could be offensive to one group or another, if we tried to appease them all we wouldn't have an encyclopedia anymore. Pushing Draft live

[edit]

Hello,

I'm looking to push LIVE the Draft I created earlier, but not able to find the Move option on the top of the Edit panel (see screenshot). Would you please advise how do I proceed with that?

Thank you!

--Bondesign (talk) 20:53, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That option is deliberately not there for very new users, you have to be autoconfirmed. You can submit it through artciles for creation but that can take a while. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:58, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bondesign: I added a template to your draft that you can use to submit your draft for review. If you were to submit it today, it would be declined because your references do not have any inline citations - see Help:Footnotes for instructions. Please also remove the external links from the body of your draft, and convert the Reference dates to English. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:12, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
