Why was my page deleted?

[edit]

Hello. I am an actress, author and reality television star. Why has my page been deleted?

Thank you for your help.

LaNease Adams2603:8000:7B01:A166:FD6A:7BCC:47E:E00A (talk) 00:36, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You were on The Bachelor? That's lovely. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spongecob Flairpants (talkcontribs) 00:42, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It was never your page. LaNease Adams was an article about you. The consensus is that you are not notable enough to merit an article about you in a global encyclopedia, so the link to your name was redirected to your biggest claim to fame. There are many thousands of working actors, doing professional work but by no means notable in any way; and you fall solidly into that category. Heaven knows most people on "reality shows" never achieve notability. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:20, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Specific naming guideline for untitled projects

[edit]

Asking where is stated that projects without a confirmed title are named as "Untitled X project" in Wikipedia (such as Untitled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel) as I haven't found anything relevant in WP:NCTV or WP:NCF. Trout me if necessary -Gouleg🛋️ (TalkContribs) 03:12, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt there is any solid guidance. Frankly, I think a lot of these are WP:CRYSTAL violations. --Orange Mike | Talk 03:44, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

WWE,AEW etc has WikiProject Professional wrestling. Is there any wikiproject dedicated to pornography articles? Rizosome (talk) 06:13, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Rizosome: Yes. I clicked on pornography, went to its talk page, looked at the header, found Wikipedia:WikiProject Pornography. -Arch dude (talk) 06:29, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What's the purpose of wikiprojects?

[edit]

How it is useful to wikipedia? Is it just a community like whatsapp group ? Rizosome (talk) 06:52, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Rizosome: It's useful. See Wikipedia:WikiProject#Function. PrimeHunter (talk) 07:48, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit the page of Institute of Mass Communication Film and Television Studies

[edit]

I find that your site and pages of information about Institute of Mass Communication Film and Television Studies, Kolkata, West Bengal, India are not correct in some of the areas and comprehensive. The English is also poor. It requires total editing. I would request you to allow me to edited the same to publish. Eagerly waiting for your reply.

How to report an inappropriate edit made by someone in an article

[edit]

Just read an article that has been edited to reflect a personal bias of the editor against a person associated with the article. How do I report such an action or request review?

2600:387:0:805:0:0:0:68 (talk) 10:43, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tag it with {{POV}}, and then go to the article talkpage to express your concerns in more detail. To get to the article talkpage, insert "Talk:" followed by the article title into the search bar. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:53, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
IP editor, the complaint you make about another editor is an action you have taken yourself, resulting in your being blocked. Please reflect on this.--Quisqualis (talk) 15:59, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That block was from 2 years ago, so this could very well be a different person. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) (🎁 Wishlist! 🎁) 16:03, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Point taken, Tenryuu. --Quisqualis (talk) 16:07, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless point

[edit]

Could somebody please move Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft. to Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft (without the terminal point). I'm unable to do it because bizarrely the latter is a redirect to the former.--Shantavira|feed me 14:38, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shantavira, have you tried asking at WP:RM? Technical move requests are handled there. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) (🎁 Wishlist! 🎁) 14:40, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will do,--Shantavira|feed me 14:46, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Tenryuu actually for uncontroversial requested moves like this, they can be requested at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. A week long discussion at WP:RM is not needed for things like this which are obviously just wrong. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:02, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Joseph2302, thanks for the shortcut, as it's been a while since I've last requested a technical move and all I remembered was the entire page. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) (🎁 Wishlist! 🎁) 19:42, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New Article

[edit]

Hi Team,

I have created a new article for a known figure, I would like to receive your feedback and work so hard to meet your expectation.

Please find below article for your reference, looking forward to hearing from you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dineee90/sandbox

Regards Dineee — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dineee90 (talkcontribs) 14:59, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dineee90, please read up on inline citations, as they are required in every Wikipedia article; it is not a bibliography in the style of other citation styles like MLA or APA. The draft is also heavy in promotional tone, especially Mohamed Karim's greatest achievement was through his book [...] (emphasis added). —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) (🎁 Wishlist! 🎁) 15:05, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dineee90, in addition to proper citations of the sources, your article's sources must demonstrate the notability of your subject. You have shown in the article his notoriety, but Wikipedia relies on in-depth converage in reliable sources, which, briefly, are widely published, independent of the subject and considered neutral in tone. Find at least 2 relialbe sources which cover your subject in depth, and try to base the article primarily on those sources. Information from the subject which cannot be independently verified, such as, perhaps, where he went to primary school, is not appropriate for a Wikipedia article. For the whole creation process, see Your first article--Quisqualis (talk) 15:19, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Watchlist notifications

[edit]

Hello,

Is it possible to get a notification when a page on your watchlist is edited? Ideally as a notice or alert. I understand if it isn't.

Thank you,

User:Heyoostorm_talk! 16:17, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Teahouse, Heyoostorm. You can set that in your preferences on the User Profile tag. that will send you an e-mail (or a daily list). Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:33, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism help request from 76.71.44.36

[edit]

I have noticed some vandalism at Roger Picard. Namely, a usee keeps changing birthdate to 1933 with no sources. Would an editor please assist me with fixing it? Thank you, 76.71.44.36 (talk) 19:09, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@76.71.44.36: I wouldn't call this Vandalism (I now my patience can be endless). Its certainly disruptive though. I have placed a handwritten note on User talk:Marc87 about this and added the page to my watchlist. If he continiues, its time to raise the problems at WP:ANI. Victor Schmidt (talk) 19:32, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

False information

[edit]

Why does Wikipedia allow false info about some subjects. Like the site of parler is not a right wing conspiracy site. You know I was thinking about donating to Wikipedia to help them. But now I see how biased you actually are and I'll get my info from somewhere else now..no I won't contribute a penny to another left wing propaganda site.. I'll save my $300.00 and let my friends know what you really are....very sad — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1702:C0:2370:17B:5508:E3B4:C09 (talk) 22:20, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You can participate in the discussions at Talk:Parler if you are unhappy with the article. We have six million articles. Nobody will like all of them. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:27, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Faked reality television genre

[edit]

In the article Kiev Day and Night, the most character and plot are staged. What do we call the genre of this TV program if there is an article genre in Wikipedia entry that support this pseudo reality show? The Supermind (talk) 22:25, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The opening sentence says "scripted reality television series". PrimeHunter (talk) 22:29, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question:

[edit]

Am I allowed to invite/ping certain editors to participate in an article deletion discussion in which I serve as the nominator? Hitcher vs. Candyman (talk) 22:36, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you may, but not in a biased way. See what you may and may not do at Wikipedia:Canvassing RudolfRed (talk) 22:53, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If, as your recent contributions suggest, you are intending to ping Toughpigs and/or others who have expressed concern about your AfDs in a new nomination, that should be fine. – Teratix 23:01, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MOS references ( but for a few long lists of award recipients )

[edit]

I am trying to add additional references to an article, but it is for a list of award recipients that have been listed under a "===" heading with only some recipients with ref tags. I know of a webpage that is updated with regularity from the governing body that has a list of all recipients. So I could always do as follows:

"===" Generic List "==="
*Jane Doe"old-ref" "new-ref"
*Jan Alleman"new-ref"
*John Doe"new-ref"
*Li Si"old-ref" "new-ref"
*Mario Rossi"new-ref"

But is there a less cluttered way to go about this? To my eyes adding the "ref" in or beside the heading a la "===" Name Of List "REF" "===" doesn't seem quite proper either.

Editing the En page for Wiener Flötenuhr Heliatrope Fish (talk) 23:27, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So most people would put the reference under the header:

===Generic list===

<Ref></ref>

However, usually you could introduce the list, and put the ref at the end of the sentence. That would be best practice. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 23:34, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
