How do I change our company name in header?

[edit]

Hi -- we changed our company name from Vector Space Systems to Vector Launch. I can't edit the header name, only in the body section.

How can I do this myself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjennett (talkcontribs) 01:01, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Kjennett: An admin or page mover can do this. But, how do I know you own the company? –apap04 talk | contributions 01:05, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Kjennett, I have moved the article to the new name per confirmation by secondary sources. However, before you edit any further, please read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline and please comply with our policy on Paid-contribution disclosure. Thanks, Lourdes 05:51, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of a letter

[edit]

I am not familiar or comfortable with the process of requesting the deletion of an article, but List of colleges and universities which have signed the Presidents Letter cannot possibly be notable. It's simply about a short, 2007 protest letter signed by a relatively small number of colleges, and the only sources are a copy of the letter itself from an education organization and a broken link to an education publication. If someone more experienced agrees it's not notable and can recommend its deletion, that would be good. 2605:A000:FFC0:D8:3059:8016:5847:3E43 (talk) 01:10, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have proposed the article for deletion. Thanks, Lourdes 05:39, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Lourdes: I've removed the PROD tag, as Criticism of college and university rankings (2007 United States) seems like a suitable merge target. TeraTIX 10:24, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. That sounds fine. Lourdes 10:25, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done. TeraTIX 12:52, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to both of you. 2605:A000:FFC0:D8:3059:8016:5847:3E43 (talk) 13:01, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How do I submit requests for biographical articles?

[edit]

I have a factual question: How do I submit requests for biographical articles for notable people? I've read the many pages on contributing articles or asking for articles to be create, but find the material hard to wade through. I'm going to put a short list below and request that someone either move those names/requested-pages to a zone where they can be taken under consideration, or request that someone offer a less than fully cryptic path/algorithm of suggestions. Thanks for your patience, courtesy and consideration. The names follow:

Hello Bluedudemi, you can yourself add the articles to either Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography/By profession or to Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography/By nationality. Cautionary note: these pages are very long and placing these names there does not guarantee that the articles will be created or you'll get any feedback on the same. You can yourself start creating the articles by following the suggested procedure at Your first article. Thanks, Lourdes 05:37, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lourdes: 1) thanks very much; 2) as the cliche goes, I couldn't see the tree for forrest ;) Take care Bluedudemi (talk) 14:23, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

:) You probably meant the "forest for the trees". You see, as the modern cliche goes, at least get one of them – as I've many a time missed both :) Have fun editing. Lourdes 16:48, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Buggy svg rasterisation

[edit]

I added new svg to the page "Block cipher mode of operation" but the generated png are buggy. What can I do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koko256 (talkcontribs) 13:55, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Define "buggy". Lourdes 16:55, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Koko256:SVC rendering packages sometimes differ in their interpretation of the underlying SVG source, and will therefore not always render your generated SVG in the same way that your SVG editor does. This is quite frustrating, of course. In this case, whatever PNG rendering software is in use at Wikimedia differs from both Inkscape and Firefox. As to what you can do: either convert it to PNG and upload the PNG (yuck, this destroys the scalability), or test on multiple render engines and hope one of them is the same as the Wikimedia engine. If you find a "broken" rendering, you may be able to recover by simplifying the SVG, e.g., by ungrouping. (I'm now going off to see if there is a decent way to preview the Wikimedia rendering.) -Arch dude (talk) 18:04, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found it, I think. look here: c:Help:SVG#Black rectangle (Flowed Text bug) -Arch dude (talk) 18:13, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. It was the "invisible flowRoot" case. Fixed it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Koko256 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Pinkney's The Tortoise and The Hare

[edit]

Can I free hand draw Jerry Pinkney's characters from the Tortoise and the Hare, and add bible scripture to the drawings?I do free hand and provide my drawings to friends. Kathryn Reynolds — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rer58 (talkcontribs) 15:10, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Rer58:I do not think this would be an acceptable addition to the article. If your pictures are sufficiently close to the originals, then they violate copyright. If not, then they are not representative of the book. As to bible quotes, there is no indication in the article that the book has any such quotes. If this is a question about the legality of your non-Wikipedia activities, then you are in the wrong place and you will need to ask a lawyer, or simply write to the author and ask permission (and send him a picture. He'll probably like it.) -Arch dude (talk) 15:46, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone explain how exactly to "cleanup" an article? It's a basic question but I'm genuinely unsure. Please ping me. C o g a i d h Talk to me 16:44, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
