[edit]Please help if able with 3 concerns - I would like to include the new file of 1st Earl Manvers in the top info box please. Also - can the pic of Sarah Meadows Martineau be cut off/made neater at the top. also - can ref number 9 please have the bit attached at the end without upsetting the "stepped" nature of the citation quoted. Thanks 175.33.22.145 (talk) 02:52, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Done
- I may crop the image as requested later today, if I have time.
- I've replaced "<brp>" by "<br>", and removed a linefeed. The error message on ref. 9 has gone away. I don't know if that's what you wanted. Maproom (talk) 07:49, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Done 2. Maproom (talk) 14:20, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Can anybody provide further support with this issue?--Converto (talk) 09:48, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Stop certain notifications
[edit]Hi,
A while ago I created pages for some new professional cricket teams in Afghanistan. I now receive a notification (in app / on site, not email) every time a user links to these pages from another page. How can I stop these? The pages in question that I created have been removed from my watch list, but I still get the notifications.
Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks

- Bs1jac You may want to go to your Preferences, select the Notifications tab to the right, and untick "Page link": Noyster (talk), 12:24, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Noyster Ah, thank you! Bs1jac (talk) 12:28, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Accidentally duplicated page
[edit]Hello! I apologize for the inconvenience as I am fairly new but my mistake certainly happened with the best of intentions. I saw a note on Bang Tango's history page that requested a page for each of their most popular albums instead of a redirect. I then took it upon myself to take on this task. I added more information and references to their first album Psycho Café but for their second album Dancin' On Coals, I did not realize that there was a redirect page that I could have initially edited instead of creating a whole new page. If someone could help me with a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Thatguy1987 (talk) 13:41, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- The article you created about Dancin' On Coals had only one reference, which appeared to be infected with malware. I've deleted that reference. I see that Psycho Café has some references to the same domain, allmusic.com. Maproom (talk) 14:08, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Maproom, I apologize for the links, I was unaware of that. I will update them immediately. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thatguy1987 (talk • contribs) 14:12, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Thatguy1987: Hello, and thanks for ypur efforts to improve the coverage: however, before you go much further with the task you have taken on, please read WP:NALBUM and check that each release passes. The original article in respect of Dancin' on Coals was redirected in 2009, the editor concerned stating "lacks reviews or references for notability, little more than a track listing". The new page does not seem to have addressed those issues and may possibly be nominated for deletion or redirection at review. It would be a shame to spend a lot of time creating content if it did not pass the notability guidelines. Some indication of chart performance would obviously assist. Thanks. Good luck. How do I get this article I’m writing reviewed and possibly published?
[edit]I’m trying to write a Wikipedia page for Chartmaster Infurion. I have based it around the existing code for the Aphex Twin (Richard D James) entry and have changed all the relevant information over to that which pertains to Chartmaster Infurion. However, a photo remains of Richard D James playing in Turin, and I would like to know how I could change this for a photo of Chartmaster Infurion?
- @Thaddeus976: to include an image in a page, type
[[File:your file here|thumb|your caption here]]
. See WP:IMAGE for more. L293D (☎ • ✎) 16:00, 16 March 2018 (UTC)- Thaddeus976, I have moved the draft text you had in your user talk page to User:Thaddeus976/Graham Donald Warner, so that your user talk page can be used for its normal function of sending messages to you, and you posting responses. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 16:04, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I’m completely new to all this. I’ve now finished the article, you can see it if you follow DES’s link above. How do I submit this to be published? Thaddeus976 (talk) 10:36, 20 March 2018 (UTC)
User Needs Help in Spanish Wikipedia in Spanish
[edit]Can someone who knows Spanish (as well as knows enough English to be reading and understanding this Help Desk) please help User:Edugraph with a problem with the Spanish Wikipedia, I think having to do with Javier Bertucci? Edugraph asked for help at DRN, but I had to close the request because it has to do with a complaint about the Spanish Wikipedia, which has its own procedures. I don't entirely understand, probably because we don't have enough of any common language to communicate. Thank you. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:59, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Already requested unblock on eswiki which as been declined by a second admin, apparently for posting English language articles and machine translations. There's nothing we can do about that here, other than suggest that they stop posting English language articles and machine translations, which has already been done on eswiki, and it doesn't seem that they've gotten the point. GMGtalk 18:21, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- User:GreenMeansGo - I am not quite sure that I understand what the issue is, but it doesn't matter, because I was only asking for help for User:Edugraph, and it appears that you are saying that they aren't paying attention. User:Edugraph - If what you are doing is not working, try stopping. In any case, do not post machine translations. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:10, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Well if you look at their articles created analysis tool they definitely have deleted articles with obviously innapropriate English titles for eswiki. That much anyone can verify. GMGtalk 00:54, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- User:GreenMeansGo and User:Robert McClenon thank you so much for your support. Apparently, the reason they blocked me was for trying to create a Spanish article, where I change the title 2 times and started Spanish article by translating from the English version. I translated 60% the first time and 35% the second time. I can translate 100% before posting, but I feel they will delete it anyway. They claim that the Spanish article version already existed, that is equivalent to the English version. I exposed my reasons but they did not answer me and blocked me right away without discussion. Three admins (bibliotecarios) worked together but they didn't give me a reasonable nor coherent reason for my blocking me Wikipedia-es. ::::Here is the thing, the next May 20th Venezuela has the presidential elections and one candidate, Javier Bertucci (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Javier_Bertucci), who is a pastor is being targeted with bad publicity by involving him on the panama papers, however you can see the List of people named in the Panama Papers that only includes actual beneficiaries and Javier Bertucci is not included in the English list, because he simply communicated with the lawyer firm who received the leakage on the Panama papers. We know that Wikipedia ES is the source for many people, including newspapers and reporters. For this reason, it is fair to have specific information and not to blend actual beneficiaries with people that only had a email communication with the law firm. Please see the Spanish to English translation of my Spanish Wikipedia discussion page here: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=&sl=es&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fes.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FUsuario_discusi%C3%B3n%3AEdugraph The user Taichi, who blocked me handles Spanish and English and here is his page in English, you can see that he complained about me uploading a picture on English Common Wikipedia, here is his page. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Taichi Thank you so much for your help. And I did not create and article with words in English in the title for Wikipedia ES--Edugraph (talk) 01:30, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- Edugraph, the problem is that each project is nearly entirely separate, with it's own administrators and functionaries. You need to address the reasons given for your block on eswiki, using the eswiki unblock system. You need to do that in good faith and with substance, addressing the reasons that were given for your block. That is the only thing that anyone on enwiki can say that is going to help you. GMGtalk 01:40, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- User:Edugraph - Please do not continue to try to open a discussion at DRN. We have explained why we cannot help you. Please do not try to resolve your Spanish Wikipedia issue either here in the English Wikipedia or at Wikipedia Commons. We cannot help you except by giving you advice. I do not know whether you are following our advice. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:57, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- GreenMeansGo I understand that eswiki project is separate from En-wiki, but since they blocked me I can't contact any admin or librarian -librarian is the title for admin in eswiki- via talk page (or discussion page for eswiki). To my knowledge, the only way for me to be unlocked, on eswiki, is by a librarian from eswiki, and I'm reaching bilingual good librarians or admins from eswiki who can unblock and analyze my case.Thanks.
- Robert McClenon I understand, but in case eswiki don't solve my issue, who oversees eswiki? Thanks--Edugraph (talk) 02:09, 17 March 2018 (UTC)
- GreenMeansGo could you please approve this English article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Javier_Bertucci Thanks--Edugraph (talk) 02:22, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

As a rule. We do not approve drafts that contaian substantial unsourced statement about living persons. GMGtalk 10:31, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Photo from desktop (copy) to be pasted on an existing Wikipedia page
[edit]I am trying for hours to download a .jpg photo on an existing first page of a Wikipedia site. Why is this process so complicated? Can someone guide me step-by -step rather than watching the confusing video? Thanks, Mimi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cara Chester (talk • contribs) 20:55, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- ? Have you clicked on 'save image' with your mouse? We are not mind readers. If you are having problems that millions of other users don't. It would help if you provided more details. Such as which image and why you want to download it, and for what purpose, etc. --Aspro (talk) 21:44, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- It seems to me that they're trying to upload an image, not save it. Photo from desktop to be pasted on a Wikipedia page. Uploading an image is indeed a bit of a pain. (Steps listed here). Partially this is just poor planning, but it's also partly because Wikipedia has restrictions on how and when to use non-free content. If it was as easy as uploading to, say, Imgur, removing the non-free images would become a full-time occupation. Matt Deres (talk) 16:24, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
Really me
[edit]I knew for some time that someone made a Wikipedia page about me. It was not me - likely a colleague. Now I see the page is under attack by an anonymous person trying to discredit me. I am who I purport to be, and will not tolerate defamation. The page has been well edited by the community, and should be taken off the watch list. I am everything the page says I am. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cynthia Ross Friedman (talk • contribs) 21:32, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- I'm glad editors were able to help you out. I would guess that there is enough attention to your article now that any further problems will be addressed quickly. If you notice anything, please bring it up on the article talk page. --Ronz (talk) 22:08, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
