Ref 122 really should be recorded as being from a journal - have I done it correctly? (Probably not - sorry!) 144.139.54.82 (talk) 01:52, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine. You're doing fine, and thank you for your contribution! It's on the web, so "cite web" is fine. ("cite journal" explicitly supports fields for Volume and Issue and DOI, so it's handy if you have those. But don't worry about it.) Herostratus (talk) 02:20, 29 April
IMO, improving from bare urls or [http://www.blahXX.com/bar title] to cite web (for a journal) is at *least* 90% of the improvment that cite journal would be. I don't think that it would get in the way of something being a Good Article, but *might* need to be changed to cite journal for something to be a Featured Article. The best comparison that I can make is that changing to cite web is going in and cleaning up all of the trash at the playground and changing to cite journal is cleaning up all of the trash at the playground *and* painting the various pieces of equipment. If you've got the material to do the painting, that's fine, but if not, someone with the paint will come through before the Mayor does his event. We are not getting the location where we can update Our Business Phone number.

[edit]

Dear Team,

We are not able to find the location with our Wiki page where we can update our phone number on it. The number which is saved on this page That is a very old one and that assigned to some one else. So we need to update the Current Phone number of our Business.

The page link is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IYogi

The Phone number Should be update as (redacted)

Kindly Help us on this.

Thanks and Regards iYogi Managemenet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IYogiManagement (talkcontribs) 06:58, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

IYogiManagement: our article iYogi does not list any telephone number. It does have a link to http://www.iyogi.com/, which gives a telephone number different from the above. Maproom (talk) 08:03, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed your phone number advert from the wrong place at the bottom of the article. Why don't you get the correction made on your own website? Dbfirs 08:23, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
iYogiManagement, please don't make edits like this one again. As Dbfirs has noted above, the addition has already been removed. Wikipedia is not a directory and does not include contact information such as phone numbers for any person or organisation. Thanks. EdChem (talk) 08:27, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
... also, please note that Wikipedia allows only individual usernames, not corporate names. If you register as an individual editor, you will need to declare your WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Paid.
... there is also the possibility that you are a competitor pretending to be iYogo Management! I assume, though, that iyogitechgenie is a subsidiary? Dbfirs 08:52, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref no input

[edit]

This error message at Love You To has got me totally flummoxed. Could well be a case of me missing something obvious, but any help would be much appreciated … Thanks! JG66 (talk) 14:24, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@JG66: Fixed it! In {{refn|group=nb||intended footnote text}}, the extra pipe character meant the intended footnote text was ignored. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:56, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
John of Reading: Fabulous, thanks John. I had a feeling it would be something pretty straightforward – and that I'd feel suitably embarrassed(!) JG66 (talk) 15:05, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can't sign in

[edit]

I am a longtime editor (or it seems like a long time anyway) named caprtrash. I am now relegated to an old Mac computer and am unable to sign in because what I see on the screen at wikipedia is largely overlapping, with the wikipedia logo at the top left covering the "sign in" options. IS there a back door or some other way I can sign in? I am not even suer that I will be able to get back here. 192.206.202.218 (talk) 15:02, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Einar, go to Special:Userlogin. Or are you reporting a problem that you encountered upon going to that page? Using Windows computers, I've found that changing the window's zoom level or the size of the window can sometimes resolve overlapping issues, since it changes the proportions of the screen items. You might also try to use view source, if that's an option with this old Mac. Nyttend (talk) 15:09, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • It could be because of the outdated Safari browser you might be using. Wikipedia pages do lose their clean formats in old browsers. I would suggest that you download the latest version of either Safari, or (in my opinion), Chrome which seems to work better in my Mac (here's the link: https://www.google.com/chrome/). Hope this helps. Thanks. Lourdes 15:16, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Try in the Modern skin, and say if you want user CSS to hide the logo in other skins when you are logged in. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:18, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Now that I am signed in my view is much improved. Unfortunately the download link is for 10.9 or better and I have a 10.4. Such is life . . ...... in my life. Carptrash (talk) 16:34, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I switched from Safari to Firefox for all of my WP editing when I was running Tiger (10.4) back in the day. I don't know if you can still find an older version of Firefox to download, but I remember its being a very good combo, at least with Monobook. RivertorchFIREWATER 16:48, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
When I tried to go to other websites where I could download a new (old) browser Safari would not open them. I eventually managed to get something called TenFourFox7400 that seems to bew working. I could sign in, stay signed in adn see images, which I could not see last time I got on. Thanks you one and all for making this happen. Carptrash (talk) 20:11, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What's the point of this page? An intentionally blank page is typically used for when you'd expect to find something on a page (so you know that it's not a mistake), but this one appears more like sticking such a page in the middle of the endpapers. Nyttend (talk) 15:12, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See Clarke's Third Law. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:05, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(e/c) Hey Nyytend. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 62#Special:BlankPage for some explanation. If you search Wikipedia for "Special:BlankPage" you'll find quite a few technical discussions, advice, and coding referring to or using it, e.g., Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 148#Message jam. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:29, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have also used it as an example when I wanted to manually inspect the html source of pages without distractions from the page content. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:31, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List_of_countries_by_distribution_of_wealth page seems really wrong

[edit]

It seems that GINI wealth on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_distribution_of_wealth is wrong. It seems to be outdated and values are extremely strange. According to the page Switzerland and Denmark are some of the most unequal countries in the world.

Their GINI index according to http://www.oecd.org/social/inequality.htm#income is 0,295 for Switzerland and 0,254 for Denmark. All GINI indexes seem to be extremely big. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.102.48.206 (talk) 16:43, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Did you miss that this is wealth not income? Per List_of_countries_by_income_equality, which is income, Denmark's value is .248 almost identical to the value of .254 you found.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:06, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error references missing key

[edit]

At MØ discography, I see a message stating 'Cite error: A list-defined reference named "ac_Germany2_M.C3.98" is not used in the content (see the help page)'. How do I fix this?
Please {{ping}} me when you respond. Thanks! --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:11, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
