[edit]Trying to connect es article with en article with Wikidata?
[edit]Wikidata is designed for people smarter than I, and I can't even find a help desk over there, so I have to ask somewhere, my apologies. At Fiona Gubelmann is an "add links" button, and when I press it, it says I need to be logged into the central data repository... which I am, so apparently this thing doesn't work. At wikidata, I searched for Fiona Gubelmann and found two results, and because of this, apparently I can't connect the two together. I just wanted to have es:Fiona Gubelmann listed on the en: page, and vice versa; it used to be so simple. If someone wants to take this up, I'd be grateful. Thanks. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 06:02, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- There were two separate items in Wikidata, for some reason. I checked that they linked to articles about the same person, then merged them (using the merge gadget which I had enabled in my Wikidata account). --ColinFine (talk) 08:12, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you so much ColinFine. I looked at what you did, and I think I was on the right track except for the second item blocking anything I was doing from working. :) – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 18:31, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Wonthaggi Public Library - error in wikipedia entry
[edit]When searching for "Wonthaggi Public Library" the webpage Wonthaggi appears which contains an error in the last line of the 3rd last para of the "History" section. It says that the library is in the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre - it is NOT. It is in a totally different building approx two blocks away from the Arts Centre (and later this year is moving to yet another location). I am a Wonthaggi resident. Please correct this error by removing the reference to the library being in the Arts Centre. Many thanks.121.219.158.78 (talk) 06:53, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- As that "fact" was unsourced, I've removed it. Rojomoke (talk) 08:08, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. Rojomoke has removed it, but if you find errors you are welcome to edit the article and correct them yourself. --ColinFine (talk) 08:14, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Tracking Buffalo Through the Bathtub
[edit]Here's an article about an album, Tracking Buffalo Through the Bathtub, that uses http://allmusic.com as its only source. Is this considered to be a reliable source? —Anne Delong (talk) 09:23, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- It's using that reference for the rating that the album achieved on that site. So, yes, it's reliable for that fact. It sounds like you're asking if it's enough to establish notability. As for that, no it's not enough to establish notability. Though the album may be notable anyway. See WP:NALBUMS. Dismas|(talk) 09:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Unsourced article
[edit]Dear editors: If an article like this one Final Report has been marked unsourced for four years and no one has added any sources, should it be deleted? —Anne Delong (talk) 09:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Best to check if sources are available and, if you can't find any, nominate it at WP:Afd. Clarityfiend (talk) 11:52, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Old geezer memory syndrome
[edit]I think I tagged a page today for speedy deletion for a page move (not Gerard, but another one), but I can't remember what it was now. Can't find it in my contributions, so I assume it's been done. Could somebody ID it for me please? Clarityfiend (talk) 11:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- You posted this to Julian de Stoop:

Article editing
[edit]I want to create an article with a very offensive title, but is notable. Will I get in trouble if I create this ? Amstaedeae (talk) 13:10, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe.
- What makes you think that the topic is notable? How much experience do you have in establishing the notability of topics on Wikipedia?
- Why does the articler title have to be "very offensive" for this topic? There is more information at Wikipedia:Article titles. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 13:28, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

What do I do?
[edit]During random editing, I've come across an article completlely in Danish ( I think). Do I tag It? The article is Mariagerfjord Treatment Plant. ```Buster Seven Talk 14:04, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- It's in German. I suggest adding it to WP:Pages needing translation into English. --ColinFine (talk) 14:10, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Someone has deleted it for "A2: Article in a foreign language which exists on another project". RJFJR (talk) 17:28, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- It was a copy-paste of the existing German article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:01, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Unified Login Question
[edit]I asked this question earlier, but not in its own thread, and didn't get an answer. If I click on a link to a page in Meta or Commons, the page displays, but I am not logged in. I then have to go to the upper right corner and select Login and enter my user ID and password. If I didn't notice that I was no longer logged in, I could accidentally edit, and would be editing as an IP address beginning with 71 (and it wouldn't always be the same address, because telephone companies use dynamic IP addresses). Am I being too optimistic or too unreasonable in thinking that a unified login should stay logged in across Wikipedia wikis? Robert McClenon (talk) 18:28, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think it's trivial to maintain cookies (or whatever) across domains (if you go from Wikipedia to Meta, for example); it might even break Internet rules. On the other hand, if you stay within Wikipedia (for example, you go from en.wikipedia.org to fr.wikipedia.org), you do stay logged in.
- More generally, this strikes me as the sort of question better asked at WP:VPT. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:36, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Biography being redundantly revised.
[edit]There is a dispute pertaining to this biography that is causing repetitive revisions: T. Winter-Damon Madamecp (talk) 18:34, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Don't engage in an edit war. Discuss the issue on the article's talk page, and follow the guidance at WP:DR RudolfRed (talk) 18:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- This issue has leaked outside of WP - see http://twinterdamon.tumblr.com/ The discussion on the Talk page seems to be unproductive. The IP editor is probably the tumblr blogger - is there a way of confirming if it is Damon? Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 18:56, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- I've tagged the article as containing weasel wording. Is there another reliable source about the death? I agree that the IP editor probably is the Tumblr blogger. There appears to be some sort of malicious prank. Either the death notice is false, a malicious prank against Damon by someone, or the Tumblr blogger is an Internet sockpuppet. Robert McClenon (talk) 19:27, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Discussion is continuing on the article talk page. The basic issue is whether the subject of the article is living or dead. There is no reliable source for either, so the references to the subject's death have been removed. Robert McClenon (talk) 01:46, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- The blog on tumblr.com has dissapeared. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 08:35, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

- Hello. It is difficult to understand what you are asking. I think you are saying that somebody has scammed you somewhere. I'm sorry for that, but this is the help desk for Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia, and we are not able to help you with your problem. Sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 19:11, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
Quickly rename
[edit]Uhm, this is kind of an embarrassing mistake but I just created a category for Category:Riots and civil unrest during the Reconstuction Era and misspelled the key word Reconstruction. How can I get that quickly renamed so I can go on building the cat?--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 19:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- I took a look at what you've done - Requested move does not work on Categories. Probably the easiest way to deal with this is to simply create a new catgory with the correct spelling then empty the incorrect category which will make it eligible for deletion. BTW I added a link to the category in your post. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 19:58, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- I've now emptied the misspelled cat.--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 20:07, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
