Fairy tales.

There is a nice bunch of authors creating articles based upon fairy tales written in the 19th century, at least twenty of them. I think these people need a bit of guidence and tidying up. Some of the articles are here on User_talk:Clevermammoth

Nuru

Hi, I would like to amend the content of this page: Nuru (massage). All my corrections have been deleted. Here are the explanations:

1. Nuru is a brand for a massage gel and not a massage technique. Active registration: https://www.swissreg.ch/srclient/faces/jsp/trademark/sr30.jsp

2. The word does NOT originates from the Japanese language and does NOT mean slippery: http://translate.google.com/#ja/en/nuru

3. Nuru is not a massage oil. It is a brand for a massage GEL. Oil is better for massaging purposes and keeps your skin greasy. Gel is easily washable and not so good for massage purposes.

4. External Links: The indicated link is pure commercial and should not be in an encyclopedia. These people abuse our brand. Please cancel it.

It looks like you are attempting to use Wikiepedia to promote your product, the gel, which just happens to have the same name as the technique, and that is not permitted. You may very well own a trademark registration for your product in a particular class or classes of goods but that does not give you any rights over the generic term. In any event the article does not have a single reference and only a single external link of dubious usefulness, so unless references can be found it is probably heading for deletion.--ukexpat (talk) 02:16, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

But a check of the reviews already posted or googling the book , will show it was written by Howard Rosenberg and Charles S. Feldman. Did I do this move correctly?

There was an article, The psychology of film. A student blanked the page, wrote some new notes, and then moved the article to Dual-route hypothesis to reading. I discovered this, restored the version that existed before blanking, but discovered that the move was not undone. I tried to undo the move, failed, and manually moved the article back to The psychology of film. Now Dual-route hypothesis to reading had got an automatic redirect to The psychology of film which I erased and replaced by a sentence. I also wiped out the redirect of the talk page. Now I know that moving pages can be a bit tricky, so my question is, is everything as it should be or are there things left to be fixed? (Next time I'll undo the move before I revert to a previous version...) Lova Falk talk 10:51, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Karen Harup

This:

"Death

On July 19, 2009, a Toyota Prius crashed through Harup's bedroom wall, hitting her and sending her flying out into the street, where she was run over twelve times. She was pronounced dead on the scene.[1]"

on the page Karen Harup#cite note-politiken.dk-1 is something of a mystery to me, since my mother died in a hospital bed after a stroke.

Is it possible for someone to delete the chapter?

Joe Paterno page

Resolved

Please consider changing the content of is page. It is based on the Freeh report which basically was a PSU Board of Trustees' attempt to buy a scapegoat. Please consider adding a more relevant report "The Paterno Report" produced by Dick Thornberg and individuals like Clemente who have prepared a report more substantial than Freeh's slanderous fit against Joe Paterno. The best place to make this request is here. Chances are nobody here at the help desk is very familiar with the details of these different reports and so it's hard for us to make a good determination regarding their relative reliability. The other editors at the Joe Paterno talk page will be much more familiar with the topic and can help you make appropriate changes to the article. Also, articles must give due weight to different sides of contentious issues. Therefore, your clearly biased views on the Paterno issue have no place in the article. For the record, the article includes content about his family's investigative rebuttal to the Freeh report. Hi Bridgian. You have to be very technical when using computer code to use the exact name of things because close just doesn't work. Here, you left off the file extension (.jpg) which is part of the image's name. It's fixed now. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 17:02, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi there, I grew up in Newtwon CT. and after looking up the info written about Newtown on Wikipedia, I noticed under the "Notable people" section, that the list is missing Robert Cottingham (who happens to be my dad).

There is a wikipedia page written for him which explains "He is considered to be one of most important original Photorealist painters." Robert Cottingam and my mom Jane Cottingahm have lived in Newtown Connecticut for over 35 yeas. They still live on the same property...Blackman Farm (founded in 1758). Some of the barns are converted into studios. Robert is still an active painter and is very much an influence in the art world today.

Information about an article meeting the notability guidelines for wikipedia

Hello thanks for your help, I see that the picture I donated has shown up on the wiki article I am writing you about. To "de-orphan" an article all you need to do it to create incoming links from other pages. That is, you need to edit other pages and create a link from them to the orphan article. This link will show what articles are currently linked to Oryn the Rebel. As long as there is a minimum of one incoming link from another actual article, you can simply remove the "orphan" tag at the top.

To establish notability is a bit more difficult. You'll need to provide multiple "reliable sources" that discuss him and include them in the article. Right now I see a New York Times link and that's a good start. You'll need more of these high quality sources to establish that the subject of the article is notable. The notability and orphan tags at the top of the page at Oryn the Rebel have important links inside them that can help you understand how to provide proper sources. -Thibbs (talk) 23:22, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

Banda (opera)

Rigoletto#Instrumentation includes "banda", with a redlink to Banda (opera). I've just been looking for what is meant. "Banda" is Italian for

Band (in all senses); banner; company, crew. — civica, municipal band.

(Cassell's Italian Dictionary, 1967)

I have started a draft article, Thnidu/Banda (opera), which so far is barely even a stub but does have one offhand reference. I would appreciate any elaboration, especially by someone who knows the territory.

I have been looking for a more exact forum to post this in but without any success. List of musical ensemble formats looked promising but is minimal.

Banda is Italian for band, but it has a special and well documented role in opera. I've expanded your draft at User:Thnidu/Banda (opera) and added further sources. Video in gallery

2013 Russian meteor event includes a video in a gallery. Clicking on it causes it to run the video but their doesn't seem to be a way to get to the image page. Is there a way to add a link like the icon in the regular video thumbnail? Rmhermen (talk) 22:46, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

It doesn't show a thumbnail from the actual video, though, just a generic thumbnail I chose for this. I am not sure whether for most videos on Wikipedia showing a thumbnail from the actual video is really needed in the cases where a link to the video is to be provided such as you intend. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 23:26, 16 February 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict) It looks like the "Neutrality Disputed" tag was placed on the article nearly 2 years ago. But the citations were just added a few minutes ago. Also the citations only cover one of the three "Citation Needed" flags. After you've introduced sources to cover the other two claims then I think it would be OK to remove the "Neutrality Disputed" notice. -Thibbs (talk) 00:14, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Thibbs, the tag is solely about the neutrality of some of the section's language, which is unrelated to the recently added cites. As I said in my prior comment, the editor did the correct thing by posting in the existing thread on the article's talk page. I disagree that language choice was the central issue here. If you look at the original edit that placed the "Neutrality Disputed" notice, you'll see that the editor who placed this notice simultaneously tagged three separate lines as "citation needed". I think it's most likely that the editor who placed the "Neutrality Disputed" tag was equally concerned with the lack of citation for all three lines. Indeed this is reflected in the talk page post he made. At any rate finding citations for the two remaining "citation needed" claims or alternately removing the claims from the article would seem to cover the most likely root of the problem and couldn't hurt. -Thibbs (talk) 00:40, 17 February 2013 (UTC)

Thibbs, you can discuss the matter on the article's talk page. While citation needed tags were added, there was also a separate neutrality issue with some of the content that still exists. Again, I disagree that the "citation needed" issue is separate from the "neutrality disputed" issue here. All evidence points to the contrary. Applying proper sources where indicated by the cn-tags will fix any neutrality concerns. This isn't a content issue, it's an explanation of how to interpret NPOV tags. If you're unclear on the difference between help concerning content (like a discussion over the Paterno family's investigative rebuttal to the Freeh report) and help concerning how to use Wikipedia (like how to interpret cleanup tags) then please feel free to contact me at my talk page where I can elaborate without cluttering up the Help Desk. -Thibbs (talk) 06:06, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
