[edit]im a bit confused on how the process works...
[edit]My article is stuck in the sandbox and i wish to post and upload more info including photos ...please give me some direction.
Thx Carla — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carlaannparra (talk • contribs) 00:18, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say that it's stuck there. It's there because it hasn't been moved to the main article space. And to be honest, it shouldn't be moved as it is right now. You have not supplied a single source for the information. I'll post a welcome on your talk page which may help to explain things a bit more thoroughly. Dismas|(talk) 03:00, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
URL with funny characters
[edit]I'm citing an article with the DOI of 10.1002/(SICI)1520-6548(199810)13:7<649::AID-GEA1>3.0.CO;2-6 and the title "The Geomorphology of Sugar Loaf Mound: Prehistoric Cemeteries and the Formation of Loess Cones in the Lower Wabash Valley", so I'd envisioned linking it as "[http://www.dx.doi.org/10.1002/(SICI)1520-6548(199810)13:7<649::AID-GEA1>3.0.CO;2-6 The Geomorphology of Sugar Loaf Mound: Prehistoric Cemeteries and the Formation of Loess Cones in the Lower Wabash Valley]". Unfortunately, that displays as
How can I get the whole thing to display properly, e.g. "The Geomorphology of Sugar Loaf Mound: Prehistoric Cemeteries and the Formation of Loess Cones in the Lower Wabash Valley"? I've tried replacing the < and > characters with < and >, but it doesn't have any visible effect. Please note that I've inserted zero-width spaces between &l/&g and t; in the previous sentence; don't copy/paste them :-) Nyttend (talk) 02:06, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- < and > are html and not for url's. You can use urlencode: "The Geomorphology of Sugar Loaf Mound: Prehistoric Cemeteries and the Formation of Loess Cones in the Lower Wabash Valley". PrimeHunter (talk) 03:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Feedback
[edit]Is there anyway to give feedback? I started to respond, but don't see anyway to do so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.252.161.19 (talk) 04:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- If your feedback is about a particular article, you can leave it at the article's talk page. Just click the "Talk" tab at the top of the article, and then click "New section" to start a new discussion thread. However, if you think you can improve the article yourself, by all means do so! You don't need to get our permission first; just start editing, keeping our policies and guidelines in mind. PleaseStand (talk) 07:09, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
1210s
[edit]Can someone take a look at 1210s. In my browser it shows a bunch of errors, Expression error: Unrecognised word "s"., and I cannot figure out where they are from. Thanks Illia Connell (talk) 07:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Might have something to do with: Warning: Default sort key "1210s" overrides earlier default sort key "1210" ~E 74.60.29.141 (talk) 07:26, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Fixed with an edit to "1210". PleaseStand (talk) 07:27, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Did that have something to do with </onlyinclude> ? ~E:74.60.29.141 (talk) 07:41, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, 1210 transcludes {{C13 year in topic}} and in turn {{Year in other calendars}}, which assumes the page name is a number and therefore can be used in mathematical expressions. By adding back the </onlyinclude>, I prevented the transclusion of those templates in 1210s. PleaseStand (talk)

Move discussion
[edit]I am considering moving a discussion from a talk page to a different (more relevant) one. Although I believe I could do this properly, I imagine there is some sort of WP protocol for doing this, and I don't want to mess it up.
Re, discussion here: Talk:Spider_silk#Ballooning vs. Kiting
Belongs here: Talk:Ballooning_(spider)
I am willing to do this myself, but would need some instruction to do it properly.
~Eric F 74.60.29.141 (talk) 07:33, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- You should paste the discussion's wikitext into the other article's talk page, mentioning just after the section heading that you moved the discussion there (e.g. using {{Moved discussion from}}). Then on the old talk page, you should replace everything but the section heading with a link to the new talk page (e.g. {{Moved discussion to}}). That way, users looking for the discussion in its original location can still find it. PleaseStand (talk) 07:50, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Okay - thanks, will do (tomorrow, it's past my bedtime). ~Eric F 74.60.29.141 (talk) 07:56, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Done ~Eric F74.60.29.141 (talk) 17:14, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Distinguish note/Hat note for non existing article
[edit]- Article Ananya Chatterjee
I am not sure if a hatnote is needed for an article which does not exist in Wikipedia. I can not decide if I should remove the hatnote.
- Reason for removing hatnote or keep it, because—
Article does not exist
- Reason for keeping
They are absolutely right that readers may get confused. And some readers will come to this article from web search engines to search about the second Ananya Chatterjee.
Any suggestions/idea? Is there any policy or consensus on this? --Tito Dutta (talk)
- I've been bold and removed it - I'm not sure if they ae notable, and it can be put back in if they get an article. Mdann52 (talk) 13:15, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Blocked Article
[edit]I would like to thank you so much I was reding an excellent page on your service when I was asked my opinion on your service which blocked part of the article no matter what I did from ignoring to trying to reply I couldnt read the blocked out part of the article thank you you !!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.194.10.130 (talk) 10:06, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I added a header to separate your question from the preceding one.
- Can you tell us which article you can't read, and what exactly you see that stops you? Thanks Rojomoke (talk) 10:11, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe HMS Favorite (1864), on which the IP left feedback? I don't see anything wrong with the article, though. Deor (talk) 12:34, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps the Feedback "popup" failed to minimize after the OP posted in it and so obscured part of the article page. Roger (talk) 13:38, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Ted Arcidi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Hello there,
I would like my DOB removed from the site and articles about me, it is information I do not want out there as it hurts my career as people think Im getting older, not older, just wiser, so please remove that for me, just the DOB, everything else is all good! I assume this will be done in a nice timley manner and appreciate your help in this matter
Best Regards Ted Arcidi— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ted Arcidi (talk • contribs) 13:49, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- As the information was unreferenced, I've removed it. Rojomoke (talk) 13:56, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- It should be noted, however, that lack of a reference is the sole reason that it has been removed. If the DoB had been properly referenced we would not have removed it. The vanity of the subject is not a valid reason for removing cited content from an encyclopedia.--ukexpat (talk) 14:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I found a reference so I have reinstated the DoB and cited the reference.--ukexpat (talk) 14:12, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's been removed by User:Moonriddengirl because the subject of a BLP has made it clear they do not wish the information to be public, per WP:DOB, and the source has no editorial oversight and is not reliable. See Talk:Ted Arcidi. - Karenjc 23:01, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Recent post revison
[edit]Hello, recently I have modified several articles. The modification are not perfect but feedback would be fantastic. We all can make a difference.
Thank You Theexamined life (talk) 15:13, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- The first feedback I would give you is that you should try to remember to include a WP:EDITSUMMARY with your edits. Thanks and happy editing! --Demiurge1000 (talk) 15:17, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- And if you have trouble remembering to do this, you can set it in your preferences to remind/warn you if you try to save without an edit summary. - Purplewowies (talk) 15:36, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I see that your first contribution was to add 'March 1 – The Year of "The Great Lawsuit"' to the article 2013. If you look at that article's history, you will see that your edit was reverted later the same day. That is evidence that someone regarded it as unhelpful. The reason given for reverting it was "vandalism". I prefer to think you you were trying to be helpful – but with no way of knowing what you meant by "the great lawsuit", I believe that you failed. Xtra!
[edit]Hi Wikipedia.
I am the Digital Business Director of Pink Triangle Press. I edited the Xtra! page, because the information provided on the page is not accurate. Matt Mills doesn't work for Pink Triangle Press any more. Especially that his name is linked to an English football player is not accurate either.
The Squirt.org page was redirected to an curising in Wales page, which is not accurate either. Squirt.org is a website similar to Manhunt and adam4adam, which have a page on Wikipedia. Can you please outline why those changes were removed? The description was neutral and just a starting point to build the page for the site as other similar sites have on yoru page as well.
Looking forward to your guidance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dailyxtra (talk • contribs) 17:27, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Re Squirt.org see these extracts from the deletion log:

- 18:59, October 7, 2012 Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted page Squirt.org (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)
- Your change to Xtra! was not removed, and someone has delinked the mention of Matt Mills. —teb728 t c 19:49, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Section Header capitalization...
[edit]Should the "see also" section have the word also capitalized or not? In other words ==See Also== or ==See also==? . WP:SEEALSO says that "See also" is the most common, but does that mean that if an article has "See Also", it should be corrected?Naraht (talk) 19:39, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- The MOS says use sentence case in article titles and section headings - so "See also" is correct. Roger (talk) 19:48, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, definitely "See also". I guess it only says "most common" because a few articles use a completely different title like "Related articles". PrimeHunter (talk) 21:16, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
